Discovering Our PurposeThe Role of the Woman in
Marriage
The wife is instructed to submit to her husband as her head.
“As to the Lord”, “in everything”, “as is fitting in the Lord”
The Bible reveals three keys reasons for this relationship (order, source, purpose).
Submission is not a punishment for the woman; but the role for which she was created by God.
This submission is modeled after the church’s relationship to Christ.
Honor him. Follow his leading. The woman is able to submit to her
husband not only because she knows it is God’s will but because she “trusts” her husband to love her as himself.
The wife shows her submission by serving as her husband's helper.
Woman was made to be man’s “helper” (Gen. 2:18).
As a woman accepts this role she feels great personal worth as she enjoys the approval of God & the appreciation of her husband.
When the man leads with love and the woman submits to him in respect, a beautiful harmony and a mutual blessing come to a couple.
