[city's] Central Park Zoo. Every day we were on set it seemed that a
new animal showed up—ones
had never sven heard of. What's a dingo? They looked like scraggly dogs to me!
Q: In your search for the kangaroo, you ride a camel across the desert. Did you make friends? A: I loved my camel. Baby. I wanted to bring her back to the States with me, but I couldn't fit her on the plane.

Hot Books Girts Power... 3LW's Adrienne Bailon and Kiely Williams have started filming The Cheetah Girls, which is based on the book series about four friends who want to be pop stars. Adrienne will star as Chanel and
Kiely will play Adrienne Aqua*. (That's Bailon So Raven's Raven and actress
Sabrina Bryan round out the cast as Galleria and Dorinda.) The film will premiere on Disney ( Channel this summer.
A Dark Day. . . Another book leaps from the shelf to the screen: The Golden Compass
by Philip Pullman. The book is the first in his series called His Dark Materials and tells the story of a girl who gets wrapped up in a fantastical mystery of missing children.

The wild kingdom is swingin'
again! Human boy Mowgli and his
bearish friend Baloo first met in the
p movie The Jungle Book. In the sequel,
L they make a jungle-full of new friends
(and have to decide if it's better to live
in the jungle or in a village with other
humans—tough decision!).

m Bagheera the black panther finds an abandoned human baby and leaves him with a wolf family to raise. When the animals learn that the man-hating tiger, Shere Khan, has returned, they decide

so he'll be safe.

Fun Fact: In the "I Wanna Be
f 1 Like You" song scene, a wild- f haired monkey steals Louie's
spotlight. He didn't have a name in the movie, but insiders called
I him 'flunky monkey.'
Later, Mowgli hears Bagheera and Baloo talking about taking him to the village. Thinking Baloo has
betrayed him, Mowgli runs away.
Fun Fact: The Jungle Book was
the first Disney movie in which major characters were drawn to resemble the voice actors. For example, King Louie has the moves of jazz musician Louis Prima, who voiced him,
vultures' hangout, where four scruffy birds promise they'll be his friends. But when the villain Shere Khan shows up, they scatter. Baloo arrives and saves Mowgli.
Fttlt Fact: The smart-talking
vultures with mop top hair and British accents were created to sound a lot like John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr of The Beatles.
JCMowgli wants to stay in the jungle—until he sees a young girl at the river fetching water. She drops her bucket so he'll pick it up. \ The love-struck Mowgli then follows her back to the village.

The Jungle Book 2 starts right where The Jungle Book ended....

After Mowgli I tells the village kids about his I exciting life with Baloo, the kids ! follow him toward the edge of the forest (even though they've been warned to stay away from
the jungle).
Fim Fact: The movie originally
included a huge food fight among the village kids, but the scene was cut when the movie ran long (maybe it'll show up on the DVD!).
Mad Mowgli gets into trouble
for leading the kids toward the jungle, so he sits in his room, bummed. Meanwhile, Baloo sneaks into the village to visit Mowgli, who decides to escape back to the jungle. Shanti spots

Fttn Fact: Originally, Baloo 1 was supposed to sing "Jungle | Rhythm" at the ruins. But the creators moved that song to the scene where Mowgli tells the kids
about living in the jungle.
Shanti runs into Kaa. But just as she's about to be munched, pow! Little Ranjan, who's followed her into the jungle, whacks Kaa with a stick - over and over again. Kaa ends up at the bottom of a hill with mangoes falling on his head.
Fun Fact: Inside joke alert! When Kaa gets pounded with fruit, he pops up with two large mangoes on top of his head. The result? He looks like a certain famous mouse.
^ Shanti i Shanti and Ranjan finally track down Mowgli, but Shanti is hurt when she learns Mowgli didn't want her to find him. She and Ranjan run away, and Mowgli chases after them. But when he finds them, he also finds Shere Khan. Mowgli and Shere Khan face off at an ancient coliseum in a big final showdown.
