Who could forget 12 year old Bonny the beautiful young lady with the magnificent

voice.

The unqualified standout had to be Graham Edwards OA Graham is currently the WA

State President of the RSL. And spoke on the 100 years of Anzac Commemoration, what

a fantastic presentation given with emotion and personal experience, Graham lost both

legs during the Vietnam war.

A visit to the Anzac Memorial while in Albany is a very worthwhile and rewarding

Guest Speaker: Dr Gordon Benz Chiropractor

Gordon has been in private practice for 17 years and in Kwinana 15 years.

All up spent 11 years studying at university (A 3 year post graduate

Paediatricts degree, a Bachelor of Science from UWA as well as a Master in

Chiropractic from Macquarie University. Was a supervising Clinician for 7 years at Murdoch University

Chiropractic Clinic. Gordon has a passion for health sciences and understanding and promoting health.

Straight-Forward Chiropractic operate from Mears Avenue, Parmelia.

Gordon says as we are all aging our spinal column and bone joints degenerate which is why we need to

look after them, wear and tear will take its toll. A few simple exercises on a daily basis will go a long way

towards slowing down the aging process. We need to put movement into our spine and neck to keep them

flexible, the old saying “don’t use it you lose it” is certainly true.

One of the best things we can do for ourselves is to ‘Drink Water’ 2 litres a day preferably. This provides

the building blocks to maintain our cartilage in our spine and joints.

In old age we need ‘independence’ and regular movement is the key to preserve our independence.

One thing to remember while exercising is while your spine, neck and joints need movement, only move

them to the point where is no sharp pain as this can be detrimental to your joints.

Michael M: Took a phone call during a Conference Session, Ruth couldn’t get into

their van at the caravan park, “Give the door a good hard pull’ says Michael.

All is OK and Michael returned the Conference. So as not be embarrassed by perhaps

another phone call Michael switched off his phone.

Three hours later Michael checks his phone ‘missed call from Ruth’

Michael quickly makes a return call only to find Ruth has been stuck in the van for the

last three hours because she couldn’t get the door open to get out. !!!!!!!

Bob C: Last seen leaving the caravan park with Wendy driving the car pulling the

Polio this week 25th March 2015

Inactivated polio vaccine (IPV) was launched this week in

Bangladesh, as part of global efforts to introduce the

vaccine globally by end-2015, ahead of the planned switch

from trivalent OPV to bivalent OPV in early 2016.

“Together with GPEI, Gavi is supporting an unprecedented

push to introduce IPV into most countries by the end of

2015. Strong routine immunization is an essential factor to

interrupt and maintain zero polio transmission,” commented

Dr Seth Berkley, CEO of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance.

The GPEI is currently accepting applications from students

and recent graduates interested in summer 2015 internships

at the World Health Organization.

Hot Cross Buns History

Dating back to medieval times, the buns were traditionally eaten on Good Friday,

but they are now popular all around the Easter season. These sweet treats,

fragrant with fruit and spices, are marked with a cross, either slashed into the

dough before baking, or drizzled on in icing afterwards. The history of hot cross

buns dates far back to the pre-Christian era. It is thought that they are descendants

of the small cakes offered to Eostre, the goddess of spring. They may have been marked with a cross

even in ancient times, to represent the four quarters of the moon. In later centuries the church, unable to

stamp out ancient pagan traditions, decided instead to "Christianise" the buns by associating the cross

with that of Jesus.

Paschal bread, made in a round shape, is very popular in Eastern Europe [in Russia it is known as

paska.] The German Easter loaf is Osterstollen and in the Netherlands people eat a sweet bread filled

with raisins and currants called paasbrod.

Ever wondered what the Easter Bunny and chocolate eggs have to do with the resurrection of Christ? In fact, Easter has its roots in Pagan times. In Northern Europe, the Anglo-Saxons held an annual spring festival for Eostre, “goddess of the growing light of spring”. Her symbol was the rabbit, for its high fertility rate, while eggs represented new life. These traditions were later incorporated into Christianity, with stories of an enchanted rabbit who lays eggs surfacing in 17th century Germany. The date of Easter is still calculated according to the moon.

Q: What happened to the egg when he was tickled too much? A: He cracked up.

Q: What do you call ten rabbits marching backwards? A: A receding hareline.

Q: Why was the Easter Bunny so upset? A: He was having a bad hare day!

Q: How did the soggy Easter Bunny dry himself? A: With a hare dryer!

Q: What do you call a rabbit with fleas? A: Bugs Bunny!
