Providing kids with warm coats is the goal of the Coats for Kids program. Councils that fulfill all the requirements of this “featured program” will fulfill two requirements of the Community category for the Columbian Award. Councils can purchase high-quality, brand new winter coats for boys and girls. Coats are available in boxes of 12 (boys or girls) and contain the following youth sizes: 2 small, 4 medium, 4 large and 2 extra-large. Prices are $215.90 per box ($20.00 cap shipping) in the U.S. and $346.95 CA per box (including shipping) in Canada. Teen coats are also available for $283.90 ($20.00 cap shipping). This fraternal year, a limited supply of light weight coats will be available in cases of 24 of a variety of sizes (again either boys or girls) ranging from size 8 for boys and 7/8 for girls all the way up to size 18 for boys and 14/16 for girls. Prices are $319.70 per box ($20.00 cap shipping). All coats should be ordered through knightsgear.com (Canadian Knights can order through knightsgear.ca ). The contest is open to young people ages 5-14 and divided into three age groups. Encourage councils in your district to conduct this program as a way to introduce the Knights of Columbus to the fathers of contestants who may be potential candidates for membership. Council officials should order the program kit via Supplies Online. Don’t forget to promote the contest and contact schools to participate. 2019 MARCH FOR LIFE/WALK FOR LIFE EVENTSThe annual March for Life will be held on Friday,January 18, 2019 in Washington, D.C. The event willbe held in observance of the 46th anniversary of theU.S. Supreme Court’s infamous Roe v. Wadeabortion decision. Knights from throughout the nationare encouraged to participate in the march along withtheir families, brother Knights and other parishioners. History was made at the March for Life inWashington last year as the President, VicePresident, and Speaker of the House all contributedto the event. The March for Life continues to growand Knights are needed now more than ever tocapitalize on this positive momentum. For March forLife information, call 202-234-3300 or visitmarchforlife.org. For information about the Knights'involvement, please visit kofc.org/marchforlife. If there isn’t onenear you, perhaps your council could start one!Philippine Knights hold Marches for Life in variouslocations throughout the country. These events areheld in late February and early March. Check with stateor local councils for march for life dates and locations.

In Canada, the National March for Life in Ottawa willbe held on Thursday, May 9, 2019. For information onthe National March, as well as times and locations ofprovincial marches, go to campaignlifecoalition.com. Council participation in, or sponsorship of, aqualifying March for Life or Walk for Life event fulfillstwo of the four Life activities requirements on theColumbian Award application (#SP-7). In order toqualify, councils must involve a minimum of 50Knights/family members.Councils needing “Choose Life” signs (#9341,available in English, French or Spanish) for theircontingent may order them through Supplies Online,the supply ordering portal available on Officers Online.As one of the most visible regional and nationalevents of the year for the Knights, Marches for Lifeare a wonderful way to help our Order grow.
