28th October to 31st October wherein team DPSG bagged the second position and was awarded a Runner

up trophy. The event was organized by School Sports Promotion Foundation.

15th District Junior Athletics Meet was held at Mahamaya Sports Stadium Ghaziabad wherein Rudransh Tomar, class X brought laurels to the school by winning a gold medal in High Jump (U-16 Category).

Children’s Creativity and Innovation Day 2017 was held at Delhi Public School Ghaziabad wherein Gracy Gupta, class VIII won first prize in the Cartoon Making Competition, Vani Goel, class X bagged the third prize in Poster Making Competition and Viral Gupta, class VIII secured the fourth position in Science Model Making competition organised by CBSE to celebrate Dr Kalam’s birthday.

To commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, the Regional Science and Technology Centre, Ghaziabad organized ‘Children’s Creativity and Innovation Day 2017’ on October 14, 2017 at Delhi Public School Ghaziabad, Meerut Road. The mega event saw participation from 125 schools and over 1600 students from Western Uttar Pradesh.

Various competitions like Innovative Model Making, English and Hindi essay writing competitions, poster making and cartoon making were organized for the students to showcase their talent.

The luminaries to grace the occasion were Mr. Mahadeo Pandey, Regional Scientific Officer, Regional Science & Technology Centre, Ghaziabad, Dr. V.K Rastogi, Ex Dean (Physics), CCS University, Meerut, Mr. Anil Chand Mathur, Ex Group Director, ISRO, Ahmedabad. The programme was organized under the able guidance of Mr Vivek Sudarshan, District Science Coordinator and Ms Soma Singh.

On 16th of October students of class 9E conducted a special assembly on Diwali celebration. Through the assembly they emphasised on the importance of the need of not just enlightening the surroundings but also our hearts towards being more sensitive towards our environment. They also presented a skit to convey this message.

Community Outreach Programme Service to Society A team of 17 students from Secondary Wing along with their teacher incharge, Ms Ruchi Anand visited Adwait Public School on October 12. The aim was to sensitize our students to needs of underprivileged children. The students distributed food packets, books, and toys to them. They shared the nuances of making Madhubani painting with the students there. They were also shown the decorative material made by special kids for Diwali. In all, students had a good experience and understood that true happiness lies in helping others.

Visit to Asha Vidyalaya Ingraham Institute

Learn to light a candle in the darkest moments of someone’s life. Be the light that helps others see; it is what gives life its deepest significance.

Keeping in sync with this thought, students from Secondary Wing went to Asha Vidyalaya Ingraham Institute, a school for students with hearing impairment on October 16. The students interacted with the teachers and learnt that they were taught using sign language. The mesmerising dance performance by students of Asha Vidyalaya left everybody spell bound. What left them amazed was the fact that they were dancing even though they didn't know the beats. They had a very positive outlook towards life despite having hearing impairment. The students distributed sweets and food items to them. After receiving the gifts, the smile on their sweet faces was a sight to behold. Our students also visited Sanyas Ashram, Gandhi Nagar and distributed sweets. Overall it was an endearing experience filled with knowledge for DPSGiites.

Visit to Morta Village

The students of the Interact Club accompanied by two teachers paid a visit to Morta Village on 13th October, 2017 to celebrate the festive spirit of Diwali with underprivileged children. The students explained the importance of the ‘Festival of Light’ to the children and played various games with them.

A ‘Diya Decoration’ competition was also organized wherein all the required material was supplied by the club students and prizes were distributed to the best three diya decorators. In the end, all the kids were given Diwali gifts.

Seven Heaven Interschool and Interclub Football Tournament was held at Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education (Category U/19) wherein team DPSG secured the second runner up position. The paricipants were - Nandini Tyagi, Vidhi Ratan, Yashswi Jindal, Srishti Sharma, VI; Vanshika Singh, VIII; Somya Sharma, X; Isha Dagar, Gauri Ratan, XI; Vrinda Sharma and Tanvi Anand, XII. Player of the match award was bagged by Gauri Ratan and The youngest player award was bagged by Srishti Sharma.

Mindsmart 2017

Satakshi Agarwal, XB, Harshit Sharma,XE, Anirudh Verma, XG, Aarchik Sachdeva and Suhani Bishnoi, XI attended a Peer Educator workshop, Mindsmart India, 2017 at National Science Centre on October 12, 2017 . The session gave students an insight into First Aid treatment and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) functioning. First aid and CPR save lives, particularly where there are grave injuries and it is critical that immediate action is taken.

XIX CBSE Cluster Athletics Meet was held at Blue Birds International School, Amroha wherein Mridnalini Singh secured second position in Javelin Throw (U-17 Category) and qualified for CBSE National.

CBSE North Zone –I Skating Championship was held at Delhi Public School Ghaziabad, Meerut Road from October 24 to October 26, 2017 wherein Samiksha Jain, class IX-I won two silver medals. She has been selected to participate in the CBSE Nationals. The event will be held in Bhopal.

"To move, to breathe, to fly, to float; to gain all while you give; to roam the roads of lands remote; to travel is to live." A special thematic assembly was conducted by class VII E on 27th October, 2017. The theme of the assembly was tourism.The relevance of tourism was put forward through various things in the assembly. Students came dressed up in the traditional dresses of different states of India and talked about the tourist attractions of those particular states. Memory Guru Mr Ashish Sharma addressed the gathering and shared his pearls of wisdom with the students. After the assembly the French delegates were welcomed by Ms Krishna Singh, Head Mistress, secondary wing.

To inculcate the importance of physical fitness and spirit of sportsmanship, a sports meet was organized for classes VII & VIII from 10th - 13th of October 2017. Students participated enthusiastically in various events like javelin throw, discuss throw, shot put, long jumps, high jumps, 200, 400 and 800 m races.

School Health Programme

Session on Substance Abuse

The school organized a session on Substance Abuse on October 11 for students of class IX with an aim to sensitize them about the ill effects of substance abuse. Dr Shalabh Gupta, President Indian Medical Association, Ghaziabad made the students aware of the different kinds of drugs available in the market and their deadly effects on human health. He emphasized that drugs like tabacco, marijuana, nicotine, alcohol etc are harmful and hence should be avoided. He further said that teenagers tend to indulge in such activities because at their age they do not know the difference between the right and the wrong. He called students’ attention to learn to say ‘No’ to peers and family members who try to drag them into this vicious cycle of drug abuse. The health issues related to these drugs were widely discussed. Students actively participated in the programme putting up queries on the topic.

Visit to National Science Centre

"Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known." In order to provide some fodder to the creative and curious minds of the students of Delhi Public School Ghaziabad, the school planned an excursion for class VIII students to National Science Centre on 7th of October, 2017. Students enjoyed themselves and learned many new facts about science in a day spent at NSC.

Young Minds Great Ideas competition was held at Noida Institute of Engineering and Technology, Greater Noida wherein students showcased various innovative projects. The competition provided students an opportunity to present their innovations from various fields of science.

Two teams participated in the event under the guidance of Mr Prneet Dhingra. The Rescuecopter project by Akarshan Mishra and Ishan Agarwal, IXG was highly appreciated by the judges and secured first position with the prize money of Rs. 15,000. The Purinator project presented by Abhinav Sharma, Kshitij Tripathi and Tuhin Bhattacharya, VIII G was also recognised by the judges for its innovative and futuristic approach. The efforts of the young promising scientists and their enthusiasm impressed all the judges, participating schools and their teachers who wished them good luck for their efforts and hard work.
