Page 1 of 6 We finally made it to summer! What a Spring we have had, no one could have imagined that leaving for Spring Break would be the last time we would see most of you face-to-face. Although the year did not go as planned I am so proud of how our faculty, staff, students, and parents adjusted to the transition to at- home learning. Our model helped us make this change with ease and we were able to finish out the year strong. I want to send out a special congratulations to our Class of 2020; although it was not the senior year they imagined, we hope their time at the UA has been memorable, I know this is one year they will never forget! As we begin to prepare for next year, please know that we will continue to monitor guidance from TEA and the CDC as to best practices for the health and safety of our students. There are still a lot of details that must be worked out and we appreciate your patience as our team of dedicated leaders work diligently through the summer to develop plans for meeting the challenges that still lie before us. Next year will see some significant changes in how we must operate, but we are confident we will be ready. This newsletter outlines some of the important details we want to share with you so far. We will continue to update you as more plans are finalized. We are anxious to get back to work with our students and see their smiling faces in our classrooms, we have missed them! Enjoy your Summer and we will see you again soon. Jo Ann Simmons, Ed.D. Superintendent SUMMER HOURS Campuses will be closed on Fridays beginning June 12 th and the offices will be closed to the public the week of June 29- July 3. Staff will return to campus July 6 th and to normal operating hours on July 13 th . PROPOSED REVISION TO 2020-2021 DISTRICT CALENDAR As many of your know, a revision to our currently adopted 2020-2021 District Calendar will be presented to the Board during the July 9 th meeting. Due to the extended closure our campus faced, and the amount of time students have been without face-to-face instruction, we feel it is best to begin school two weeks early to get a jump start on the year. The proposed calendar has school beginning on August 3 rd , with scheduled make-up days added to October in case they are needed to make-up for any possible closures. Additional make-up days have been added to the end of the calendar through the month of June to accommodate meeting the 180-day rule for full funding in the event of missed instruction throughout the year. Links to both the adopted and proposed calendars are included below.
