ADDED ITEMSARE UNDERLINED AND DELETED ITEMS ARE STRUCK THROUGH The Contract Documents for the above referenced project are amended and revised as follows: 2 nd FACILITY TOUR OPPORTUNITY MSDGC will hold one additional guided tour of the DIW facilities on Monday, 10/27/2014 at 10:00 AM ET. Participants should gather in the atrium of 1081 Woodrow Avenue. This tour will be a repeat of the tour given at the Pre-bid meeting on 10/21/2014. Pre-registration is not required. QUESTIONS & ANSWERS Question A: Regarding the replacement of the Fume Hood Sashes and Liner Material, can you provide the name and contact information of the current manufacturer, and what type of liner is currently being used? Since that manufacturer may be adverse to supplying product and material to a competitor, would the Owner or the CM consider providing the material, and the contractor do the installation? If we wait until the Pre-bid Meeting, there may not be enough time to acquire pricing from the current manufacturer. Photo would also be most helpful in determining what needs to be considered in this scope of work. Answer A: The existing laboratory casework was manufactured by BMC National Products, PO Box 4089, Muskegon Heights, MI 49444. (616) 733-1206. The attached file contains the original product data submittal for the existing fume hoods. The attached photo shows FH-23. Question B: You may want to ask for an Alternate to replace the fume hoods, as opposed to replacing the sashes and liners. Newer hoods could be run at lower CFM / FPM, giving the users significant long term energy savings. Answer B: We are unable to change the budget, the scope of the project or the bid items at this time. Question C: I am requesting adding Hanson Lab Furniture to the list of Approved Manufacturers in Spec. Section 115313. 2. 1. ITEMS DISCUSSED:  The purpose of the Pre‐bid meeting was to review requirements of the DIW Office and Lab Improvements Phase 2 project and to tour the DIW building.  1.0 INTRODUCTION  1.1 A representative of MSD Procurement, Mark Menkhaus, the MSD Project Manager, Sohail Saeed, and the 

Project Architect, John Kornbluh, began the Pre‐bid meeting with a brief introduction to the project.  

1.2 Mark Menkhaus pointed out that the bidders are required to submit various forms with their bid. All of those forms are grouped together in one place in Volume One of the bid booklet. He also described instructions for submitting combined bids. 

 1.3 John Kornbluh briefly described the work of the project and mentioned schedule, phasing, temporary 

facilities and controls, scope of work and other requirements that are described in detail in the documents.  

1.4 All questions concerning the project are to be sent to MSD Procurement at MSD.PROCUREMENT@cincinnati‐oh.gov.  

1.5 Addendum 1 will include minutes from the pre‐bid meeting along with additional information about the existing fume hoods and a change in the Plywood Packing Crate Boxes Schedule in Specification Section 01 50 00. 

 2.0  TOUR OF THE FACILITY  2.1  A tour of the building was conducted. The tour included all areas of the building and mechanical penthouses 

where work is to be done as well as the mechanical and electrical rooms.  2.2  To arrange to tour the building again, contact MSD Procurement at MSD.PROCUREMENT@cincinnati‐oh.gov.   3.0  QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS  3.1  Q. Please identify the location of the data communications rooms.   A. Punch down panels are located in the following rooms: Communications Room 118, Electrical Room 145, 

Electrical Room 206 and Electrical Room 219.    3.2  Q. Are all voice jacks and cabling being retained? Will a Value Engineering item for including replacement of 

voice cabling be considered?   A. Yes, all voice jacks and cabling are being retained. See Keynote 5 on ED101. The project should be bid as 

specified and designed. Substitution requests will be considered after award of contract.   3.3   Q. What are the heights of the existing partition walls that are being removed and the ceiling heights in 

those areas?

  A. All walls (new and existing) unless otherwise noted, extend to the underside of the floor or roof deck above. First floor to second floor height is 14’‐0”. Distance from second floor to underside of the roof deck is approximately 15’‐0”. Ceiling heights are indicated in the Room Finish Schedule on A‐701 and in details on A‐501. For additional ceiling heights, see also the Room Finish Schedule on Sheet A2.4 of the Original Construction Drawings which can be accessed through the MSD website. 

 3.4   Q. Is any of the electrical power distribution wiring located in the floor slab?   A. None of the wiring is in the slab.  3.5   Q. Are the existing office systems furniture panels electrified?   A. No, they are not. There is no wiring in the panels.  3.6   Q. Will MSD furnish protective pads for the elevator?   A. Contractor use of the elevator is permitted, as described in Specification Section 01 50 00 Temporary 

Facilities and Controls, paragraph 3.3.C. In this paragraph the contractor is directed to provide protective coverings. 

 3.7   Q. Is the roofing system under warranty?   A. Specification Section 07 01 51 Roofing Protection and Repairs describes the existing roofing system, which 

was installed in 1994, in detail. It also includes requirements for the roofing system manufacturer to approve the materials and details to be used in roofing repairs and new work. There are no requirements to maintain a warranty in effect. 

 3.8   Q. Can the exhaust fans in the penthouses be temporarily taken out of service and moved if needed to 

provide clearance for the work at the air handling units?   A. In general, it is acceptable to temporarily remove the exhaust fans from service since the fans in each 

penthouse most likely serve fume hoods in the same area that is served by the air handling unit.  However, the contractor is to confirm this. Note that each exhaust fan number corresponds to the fume hood served by that fan. For example, exhaust fan F‐23 serves fume hood FH‐23.
