PRE-FAIR ENTRY DEADLINE EXTENDED Manilla-colored envelopes were mailed out. Please open them immediately to make sure you have all of your forms. Read and follow the instructions carefully. Please call the Extension Office if you have any questions. If you did not receive all of the forms you need contact the Extension Office immediately. You can find the forms on the Dixon.unl.edu website. The entry forms are the only means of making fair entries for the county fair and pre-fair judging day. Entry form deadline is Monday, July 15, by 4:30 PM POLICY ON LATE ID’S, ENTRIES, EXHIBITS The policy of the 4-H Council will be to allow 4-H members with late forms (whether it is ID’s, entries, or exhibits at fair) to participate, but their exhibit will be lowered one ribbon placing. Forms with a post mark of the entry date will be accepted the following day as on time. Late entry exhibits are not eligible for trophy competition. We appreciate your diligence in getting the needed information in on time. Call if you have any questions on what is required. PRE-FAIR JUDGING DAY Judging day is on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at the Haskell Ag Lab, Concord, beginning at 8:30 AM. This includes fashion revue, clothing judging, and photography. The Fashion Revue will be starting at 10:30 AM so 4-Hers can get their photography and clothing judged before the fashion revue. Any exhibits not interview judged need to be at the office prior to July 26th or at the Haskell Ag Lab by 10:30 AM on the 27th. 2019 FONNER PARK STATE 4-H HORSE SHOW

2018 NEBRASKA EXHIBIT THEME PRINTS
Unit II: BEAUTIFUL NEBRASKA – Nebraska's state song, Beautiful Nebraska, talks of peaceful prairie land, rivers, hills of sand, dark green valleys, and rainbows reaching to the ground. However, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and everyone has their own idea of what makes Nebraska great. Entries in the theme print class should capture and share what the exhibitor find beautiful in or about Nebraska.
Unit III: N150 – February 15, 2019 marked 150 years since the day the state of Nebraska chartered the University of Nebraska. That's 150 years of history to appreciate, impact to unpack, and stories to tell. Much has happened since 1869, all for the purpose of changing lives, advancing knowledge, and fulfilling dreams. How has the University of Nebraska impacted you, your family, or your community? How can you tell this story through photography? Exhibitors should explain how their photo fits the N150 theme. PRESENTATIONS AND FAVORITE FOODS One critical skill gained from 4-H is commun-ication. This skill is used daily in our lives. The Dixon County 4-H program has a great opportunity for all 4-Hers to do this year. Consider joining us for the Presentation Contest. Another opportunity to try is the Favorite Foods Show (youth prepare their favorite food and design a table setting). This year we are going to combine two contests together. For more information on how to prepare for these experiences, please contact the office. Presentation & Favorite Foods Contest Saturday, July 27 during the Pre-Fair Judging day at the Haskell Ag Lab. Registrations are due July 15. Registration forms are on the Dixon 4-H website: Dixon.unl.edu/4h

DIXON COUNTY 4-H GRIEVANCE POLICY The purpose of the policy is to provide a means to respond to a 4-H member’s concerns relating to Dixon County 4-H rules and decisions throughout the 4-H year. The policy will be printed in the fair book, and will be posted online at the Dixon County 4-H website. This is also a reminder of the “4-H Youth/Parent/ Guardian Code of Conduct” that all 4-H members, parents, and volunteers agreed upon, at the time of enrollment on 4HOnline. A copy of this is at https://extension.unl.edu/FINAL%204-H%20code%20of%20Conduct.pdf
PRE-FAIR CLEANUP The fair cleanup will be held on Monday, July 29 at 6 PM for all the clubs and members to help clean the fairgrounds. The 4-H Council is planning on all the 4-Hers and their family members helping with the fairground cleanup. The Council will be furnishing the meat, buns, dinnerware, and drinks. We are asking each family to bring either a salad or dessert to have as a potluck supper. We will need you to email [email protected] or call 402-584-2234 if you plan on attending so we can prepare for enough people. There is a schedule in this newsletter of the areas each club is assigned to clean up. 2019 DIXON COUNTY 4-H T-SHIRT The cost will be $11.00 for sizes Youth Small thru Adult XL; $14.00 for 2XL through 4XL. Send me your certificates if you have not done so yet. CLOVER KIDS JUDGING Wed, July 31, 9:00 AM – Ag Hall Exhibits Fri, Aug. 2, 12:15 PM – Rabbits & Poultry Sat, Aug. 3, 1:15 PM – Cats, Dogs, Pets CAT, DOG, AND PETS EXHIBITORS On Saturday, August 3, check in for Cats and Pets is 1:30 PM with the show at 2:00 PM. All cats and dogs need to be vaccinated by July 15. Please send a copy of your vaccination papers to the office by July 15. DIXON COUNTY 4-H COUNCIL Dixon County 4-H Council will be meeting at 7:00 PM at the Haskell Ag Lab on July 15th. The remaining schedule for the year is September 16, and November (TBD). Each club is to have at least one representative at these meetings. Teen Leaders are to attend these meeting also. Club leaders or other parents of 4-Hers can be the club representative at the meetings. There are new rules for the council that will be discussed at the March meeting. Please make sure each club has someone attend this meeting.
August 23 –
September 2 STATE FAIR STATIC EXHIBITOR DISCOUNT TICKETS New in 2019! 4-H youth exhibiting static exhibits at the Nebraska State Fair will order advance discount tickets directly from the Nebraska State Fair. Discount tickets will no longer be available through the county offices. Details on ordering tickets will be available soon. All livestock exhibitors and in-person event exhibitors (contests, fashion show, presentations) will still be able to order discounted tickets when they enter in ShoWorks for State Fair. 4-H NEBRASKA STATE FAIR VOLUNTEERS Nebraska 4-H relies heavily on volunteers in the days leading up to and during the Nebraska State Fair to help ensure the entire fair runs smoothly. State Fair 4-H volunteers receive a fair pass for the day(s) they volunteer. We are again asking your assistance in recruiting 4-H volunteers for the Nebraska State Fair. Volunteers may sign up at http://4h.unl.edu/state-fair/volunteer by August 15, 2019.
