Simple DIY today

Drawn w ith fabric ma rkers, cut from a curv ed pattern, an d constructed with a single pleat for a h andy sized

zipper clutc h. Su itable for sun glasses and a few other spare parts.

Finished Dimensions: 5.5 inch es tal l x 9 in ches wide

Materials:

Cray ola Fabric Markers from the May Whim sey box

7 zipper

plain fabric measuring 1 5 x 1 2 for exterior (cut to 7. 5 x 1 2 wide)

lining fabric measuring 1 5 x 1 2 (cut to 7.5 x 12 wide)

optional: 2 4 bias corded trim /piping

usua l suspects: pins, thr ead, needle, wat er soluble pen

This Complimenta ry Pattern

Preparation:

Using fabric ma rkers by Cra y ola begin doodling y our pattern on two plain fabric panels measuring 7 .5 tall x 1 2

wide. Heat set according to m an ufacturers in str uct ions.

Construction:

Note: Seam allowances are approxim ately 3/8.

1 . Cut ma in fabric to Pattern Piece 1. Cut lining fabric to Pattern Piece 2 .

2. Tran sfer and ma rk pleat points (on pattern) on the ma in (outer) fabric.

3. Fold both outer points in towa rd center. Finger pr ess an d sew the pleat flat (1 /4 seam a llowance).

4. (OPTIONAL) If using piping, at tach piping to the cur v ed edge of one piece of ma in fabric.

5. Place the m ain fabr ic face down and alig n one edge of the zipper to it (zipper head should be lay ing fac e

down ). Pin in place and sew w ith a zipper foot.

6. Place lining fabric prin t side down on top of th e main fabr ic (righ t side up) and att ach ed zipper. The zipper

should be lay ing flat ag ainst the m ain fabric as it was wh en sewn. Sew th e lining to the zipper and m ain

fabric. Press lining a nd ma in fabric aw ay from zipper.

7 . Repeat with other panels.

8. Place the main outer fabric halv es righ t sides together, pushing the zipper tail aw ay from th e main fabric,

sew t hese two panels with a h alf inch seam a llowance.

9. Open zipper halfway and repeat th e process with the lining. Th is time leave a 3 -4 hole to tur n th e bag

righ t side out.

1 0. Turn the bag rig ht side out th rough th e hole and flatten th e piece, pushing out t he curv ed edges of the

linin g an d main fabr ics. Pinch t he hole shut a nd sew closed.

Stuff linin g inside the bag. Youre done.
