DiscussiO!l.9 h'ith Il'.;}T senior' officers here have resulted in the following decisions via ~ vis our co-operation on your new Museum. We shall be very pleased to consider excha.nges of material. We have some Mathematical instruments such as integrators and planimeters, a few calculating machines, and some 1910/1920's punched card equipment at present available for exchange. Our own stock of material from early computers is unfortunately smal~ mainly dictated by available storage space, and we do not have anything to spare at present.

However, the Museum is offered computing equipment fairly frequently, and I have several contacts within the industry who advise me of equipm~nt reaching the end of its working lifeo I should be most willing to pass on use~~l intormation to yourself or to an agent of yours in this country.

I regret that I am unable to take up the post of purchasing agent for you. The material involved is exactly '~hat for lorhich I am responsible in the Museum, and it is therefore impossible for me to engage in a further paid activity which would conflict with ~ work.

I do wish your Museum project eyer,y success, and I hope that the contents of this lett,er can serve as a basis for mutual co-operation between our two establishments.

Here's your copy back. I went with Tim over to the exhibiton area--and now three of us concur. From a practical standpoint and most probably an aesthetic one, we feel that the program should not be contained within the closet.

A ~oint Tim made is that not only will the viewer be looking at the program and computer parts (were the program placed inside) but also, with the plexiglass and mirrors he will be looking at himself from all angles. The re~ult could only be visual confusion!!
