Introducing the Defence Materiel Organisation The Defence Materiel Organisations (DMO) purpose is to equip and sustain the Australian Defence Force and our first priority is to provide equipment for Australian Defence Force (ADF) units deploying on operations. We manage over 180 major capital equipment projects and over 50 minor projects and we also sustain and upgrade over one hundred existing fleets. Position Description From fighter aircraft and Navy ships to soldier systems, the Defence Materiel Organisation (DMO) is one of Australias largest program management, logistics, procurement and engineering services organisations. DMO has offices in more than 70 locations throughout Australia and overseas. We are a civilian organisation responsible for acquiring and sustaining the equipment used by the Australian Defence Force (ADF). The Defence Materiel Organisation Materiel Graduate Scheme offers an 18 month graduate program, consisting of three six month rotations, at various locations around Australia. Positions are available in various locations across ACT, NSW, VIC, QLD, SA and WA, with one rotation based in Canberra.     DMO Professionalisation The DMO is seeking to recruit individuals with a commitment to ongoing professional development. Our employees are encouraged to achieve and maintain professional status in a professional field. The DMO's Professionalisation Initiative is a central strategy in DMO's commitment to meet the challenges of the future. This initiative for professionalisation and up skilling processes will be implemented to cover the entire DMO workforce. Prescribed eligibility requirements apply. The DMO is interested in candidates who can demonstrate an ongoing commitment to their own, and their staffs, professional development through achievement of chartered status or an equivalent form of professional recognition. A key objective is to develop chartering/certifying processes and programs that enable our workforce to register competence through assessment against the highest standards available. They include formal professional certification programs that are awarded by a professional body or society, as currently applies to lawyers, engineers and technical officers and accountants in DMO.

  • Selection Criteria As part of the application process, you will be required to answer three shortlist questions. You should address each of the questions and provide examples which demonstrate your ability against the selection criteria. Your responses to each question will also be used to assess your written communication skills. Question 2 Supports Productive Working Relationships and Leadership Skills Please outline a goal / task (work, study, social) that you had to achieve while working with a diverse group of people who did not always agree on key issues. Please outline: your thoughts and the actions you took and the behaviours you demonstrated to achieve the required outcome.   • Qualifications / Experience Requirements A minimum three-year Bachelor degree recognised in Australia in a relevant discipline within the past five years is required to apply for the Materiel Graduate Scheme. Please note, those applying for the Finance, Logistics, and Procurement and Contracting streams must have achieved a credit average (a pass average is required for the Engineering stream). There are specific degree requirements for the specialised streams of the Program. These are: Engineering (inc Naval Architecture) Applicants must have an Engineering degree specialising in Aerospace, Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Mechatronic, Computer Systems, Computer Science, Software, Systems, Telecommunications, or Naval Architecture; Logistics Applicants should have degrees in Logistics, Business, Commerce, Economics or Management; Procurement and Contracting Applicants should have degrees in Business, Commerce or Law RecruitAbility Scheme The Department of Defence is committed to supporting the employment and career development of people with disability.     The two parts of the definition are the presence of a limitation, restriction or impairment which restricts everyday activities; and the expected longevity of the condition (6 months or more). This also includes episodic conditions. The definition covers many types of disability. You do not need evidence of your disability to opt into the scheme, but you are making a declaration to the APS that you meet the definition.
