Tips for Holiday Compassion Recommendations for our faith family Hello Faith family, As the holidays and cold weather approach we know there are many whom are homeless and needy in our community that you and your families want to serve. We want to provide you with a few things on how to best serve those in need in our city, and what to avoid. 1. DO volunteer at your local non-profits to provide clothing, blankets, hygiene kits and other comfort items. 2. PLEASE DO NOT pass out food – Recent breakouts of Hepatitis A have been reported in homeless communities. Empty food and drink containers can be virus incubators. This also duplicates current provided services. 3. DO partner with a local non-profit to fund and provide meals to those in need. Poverello House and the Fresno Rescue Mission are both equipped to provide 2,000+ meals a day in a safe and sanitary way, inspected routinely by the Department of Health. 4. PLEASE DO NOT pass out money to the homeless. This often perpetuates and feeds their addictions. When you give to a non-profit, you’ll know where your money is going and how it is being used. 5. DO organize drives to help your local non-profits distribute items like: canned food, gifts for single men, women and children in programs, in-kind gifts, blankets, socks or hats. 6. DO consider adopting a month of the year to assist a local non-profit in it’s work with the homeless. We thank you for your commitment to the community as people of faith. For more tips and other information feel free to visit Poverellohouse.org and fresnorm.org.

Tips for Holiday CompassionRecommendations for our faith family

Hello Faith family,As the holidays and cold weather approach we know there are many whom are homeless and needy in our community that you and your families want to serve.

MissionsCORNERJOHN KOEHLER, NEW LIFE

John, after spending several years in Mongolia has miraculously received approval from the government of Afghanistan to open a residential program called New Life to minister to men in recovery from drug addiction.

Recently he received approval from the government to begin the live-in phase of the program. They interviewed six men and now have three of them in residence.

Thanks to your faithful giving to PC Missions we are able to partner with John monthly to reach out in Jesus’ name to society’s throwaways in a worn-torn nation.
