l Jer 9:23-24 Thus says the LORD, "Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let notthe mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; 24 but let himwho boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD whoexercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on earth; for I delight in thesethings," declares the LORD.

l Psa 34:2 My soul will make its boast in the LORD; The humble will hear it and rejoice.

l Psa 44:8 In God we have boasted all day long, And we will give thanks to Your nameforever. Selah.

l Isa 45:25 "In the LORD all the offspring of Israel Will be justified and will glory."

l Isa 41:16 "You will winnow them, and the wind will carry them away, And the storm willscatter them; But you will rejoice in the LORD, You will glory in the Holy One of Israel.

• “In the Christian church, indeed, self-commendation should beviewed with suspicion as a mark of disqualification. God’scommendation of a person is shown, not by verbal boasts, butby the testimony of the consciences of those who haveexperienced the blessing attendant upon that person’s laboursand by the continuing and increasing fruits of his labours (cf.4:2, 5:11).”
