Domestic Policy as First Consul

• Code of Napoleon- no more privileges based on birth, allowed freedom of religion, and government jobs go to the most qualified.

Emperor (1804-1814)• French senate made him their emperor• Wanted to establish a vast empire and

control the world.

Napoleon was exiled from France. He took a few of his soldiers with him. He was

replaced on the French throne by Louis XVIII.

Ten months after his exile

Napoleon escaped,

He finally regained power, but was defeated in the

Battle of Waterloo. He died in prison six

years later.
