ThisspecificationcoversSeriesHeatingCableSetsandtheirinstallationforsurfacefloorwarmingapplication.

3 Specifications3.1 Dimensions

Dependingontherequiredelectricalpowerandinstallationapplication,thecableshallbeavailableindifferentlengthstooptimisethefloorsurfacetoheat.Makesuretoproperlyplantheproductsrequiredsincetheycannotbemodified.Thecableshallhaveanominaldiameterof1/8inch(3.2mm)andamaximumof5/32inch(3.9mm).

3.2 CablestructureHEATINGCABLEResistancewiremadeofcopperorcopperalloy,withafluoropolymerinsulation.Theinsulatedwiresaretwistedinpairsataspecificlaylengthsothattheelectromagneticfields(EMF)arereducedtoanon-significantlevelatthefloorsurface(between0.25mGand0.5mG).Acopperbraidcoverstheheatingwires.Anexternalcopolymersheathprotectsthewholecableassembly.Thecablepresentslittleformmemory.NON-HEATINGCABLE(orCOLDLEAD)

Thecoldleadismadeof3conductorsTWN75/T90,14AWGwithanoverallPVCRoHSjacket.MECANICALJOINTTheheatingcableandthecoldleadarejoinedbyultrasonicwelding.Thespliceisencapsulatedintoasolidplasticshellwhichisinjectedwithsealant.

3.5 Electricalvoltage

3.6 CablesecuringsystemThecablesecuringsystem(installationgauge)shallbemanufacturedinplasticmaterialinordertopreventanydamagetothecablesheathduringinstallation.Theinstallationgaugewillhaveopeningsateveryinchandshallbefreefromanysharpedgesorburrssusceptibletodamagethecablesheathduringinstallationandduringtheusefullifeoftheproduct.Thecablesecuringsystemwillallowauniforminstallationofthecableforanoptimumdistributionoftheheat.Theradiusofcurvatureofthecableatpointofcontactwiththegaugeshallbeequalorgreaterthan0.5in(12.7mm).

Thecablesecuringsystemiscompatiblewithhotmeltglueadhesive,nails,screwsandstaples.

3.7 Controls

FLPseriesprogrammablethermostatorFLKseriesnon-programmablethermostatincorporatingaclassAcertifiedGFCI,electronic,withlowvoltagemodule,includingatleastonetemperaturesensorinsertedtothefloor.Foraninstallationthatrequiresmorethan15A,usetheFLEseriesexpansionunit.

4 Installation

• InstallheatingcableinaccordancewiththeGreenCableTMsurfaceinstallationguide.

• SecurethegaugesinaccordancetoFLEXTHERMGreenCable™Surfaceinstallationguide;toconcretewithhotglueorscrews,onplywoodusinghotglue,screws,25mm(1inch)nailsorstaples.

• Securethecabletoanchoringdevices,50mm(2inches)fromedgeofwall.Maintainthechosenspacingthroughouttheinstallation.

• PlacethermostatremotesensingprobeinaccordancetoFLEXTHERMGreenCable™Surfaceinstallationguide.

• Donotcrossexpansionjointswithcable.

• Donotalterheatingcablelength.

• Ensurecablesdonotbunchorcross.

• Thesystemcanbeoperatedonlyafterthemortarorself-levellingunderlaymenthascompletelycured.Thiswaitingperiodisessentialtoensurethatthemortarorself-levellingunderlaymentisproperlyset.Refertoyourmanufacturer’sinstructionstoverifythecuringtimefortheproductyouareusing.

6.2 General

Eachproductisinspectedatthesource,duringmanufacturingandattheend,inordertoensurecompliancewiththepresentspecification.

6.3 Productmanufacturinghistory Everyproducthasauniqueserialnumberthattracestheproductmanufacturinghistory.

6.4 Repairs

Thecablecanberepairedifit’sdamagedduringofaftertheinstallation.ContactourcustomerserviceforadiagnosisandarecommendationforatechnicianwhoisqualifiedtorepairFLEXTHERMheatingcables.

7 PackagingTheproductisshippedinaboxclearlyidentifiedwithitscontents.Eachboxshallinclude

• Onespoolofheatingcable;• Anappropriatenumberofinstallationgaugesfortheentiresurfacetobecovered;• Anappropriatenumberofhotmeltglueadhesive;• Installationinstructionsincludingtestingproceduresduringinstallation.
