2. WORK PROCEDURE
2.1 PRELIMINARY ACTION
Inspection of the stub casting and alignment. Record for any deviation and report to
concern.
Check the actual vertical level difference between different foundations in one array using
water level pipe
2.2 STRUCTURE INSTALLATION
Before commencement of structure erection work all modules pallets should be shifted to
location where erection work will be started.
Checking of
Verticality of stub using
inclinometer

Module pallets should have to be only lifted by fork lift attached to excavator. Ensure that
pallets should be placed in such a way so that it will not affect structure erection work.
NOTE: Tool Box Training (TBT) should be given before shuffling of module pallets.
Tools used for erection of structure need to be calibrated and calibration should be checked
at site before commencement of work.

After shuffling of module pallets to their location assembly of rafter should be done at stub.
Tool Box Training should be given to worker before erection work about safety at working
area.
After the installation verify that all the fasteners are as per the BOM provided by the design
drawing. If any deviation is found during the assembly immediately report to the concerned.
Make sure that the spring washer is placed along with nut always and not with the head of
the bolt. It is advisable to use flat washers of appropriate thickness wherever slotted holes
are encountered in the structure.

After assembly of rafter other structure material viz. purlin, mounting rail etc. should be
done using cotton cord for alignment of structure.
Tightening of structure parts should be done using power tools and spanner. Torqueing of
nut bolts should be checked using torque wrenches at required Nm and torque marking
already done.
Ensure that both the extreme end members are tightened with specified torque and specified
tools. Use calibrated torque wrench and spanners for final tightening. To save on time and
labour requirement use power tools i.e. pneumatic power tools / electric battery based
power drive tools.

Now place end clamp and mid clamp with proper nut bolt assembly at their respective
positions. Ensure that clamp without rubber should not be placed in structure.
Take the structure already installed as a reference and proceeds with installation of other
structures.

Appropriate safety helmet must be worn at all times in all sites.
Appropriate safety footwear must be worn at all times in all sites.
Approved safety glasses must be worn at all times in all sites.
Approved Full Body Harness with double lanyard must be worn at all times in all
sites.
Approved reflective jacket must be worn at all times in all sites.
Appropriate ladder must be used.
Use appropriate type of gloves. Safety gloves should be worn when handling steel,
securing straps, ropes or chain slings
Appropriate scaffold must be used.
Ring or Jewelry must not be worn and removed.
3.2) PRE-OPERATIONAL SAFETY CHECKS
Close co-operation and effective supervision during handling of structural material at site.
Check the area where the material is to be unloaded. There needs to be clear space for
subsequent handling of material.
The capacity of the lifting equipment on site to be checked vis-à-vis weight of the load
specific requirements for safe slinging or handling of the load, should consider following:
All the risks have been assessed.
Are the Working Load Limits Adequate?
What is the weight of the load?
Where is the centre of gravity?

What is the sling angle?
Capacity of the gear?
Will the Load Be Under Control?
Tag Line available?
Is there any possibility of fouling?
Clear of Personnel?
All lifting tools / Machine needs to be inspected from TPI.
Securing of load components to lifting.
Bundle length Max bundle Weight Slinging Point
< 6m <150 kg Min 3 points
Unloading of MMS Should be carried out once all the risks have been assessed.
Don’t tie the load to an object to drag it off by moving the vehicle
If the load becomes unstable in some way during unloading, unloading should stop
immediately and the relevant competent person should be informed. Access to the vehicle
may be dangerous in these circumstances as the load could move unexpectedly and a larger
exclusion zone should be imposed around the vehicle. A decision to re-commence
unloading should only be made by staffs who are competent to make such a decision.
