The rise of gambling can be explained by a number of factors
Addiction is a behavioural alteration that entails a shift from a simple habit to an obsessive search for pleasure through substances or behaviors which lead to pathology.
Environmental factors:
Mood disorders, attention deficit disorders with hyperactivity
suggest behavioural and physical activities which are able to compensate the modifications in the prefrontal cortex.
In order to prevent the spread of pathological gambling, the following is desirable:
interventions for regulation and abolition of advertising related to gambling;
information promotion, even at the school level, on the modification of neuronal circuits triggered by the misuse of the internet;
