A VISIT TO A SERVICE CENTER.A Story.
Today was an important day for the fourth grade classat the Martinez Elementary School, and MargaritaGonzles was especially excited. Trevirio's Service Centerhad opened up a few weeks ago and it was only a mile fromthe school. The class was going to take a trip to seewhat the workers do in a Service Center and Margarita hadmade their visit possible. Her Uncle Felipe had justbeen hired by the manager as a repair person and Margaritahad asked him if her class could visit the center. Afterspeaking to Mr. Ldpez, the manager, her uncle had toldher that it would be all right for the class to come tothe center for a visit, but that Mrs. Miller, the teacher, would have to arrange the day and the time with Mr. Ldpez.
"How exciting!" Margarita thought to herself as her classwas getting off the bus in front of the Service Center."I am so proud of my uncle. He is going to show usaround the center and tell us all about his new job."
"Hello, Uncle Felipe," shouted Margarita as she saw himwaiting for the class at the front door of the building.

"Before I start to tell you something about what we dohere," began Mr. Gonzales, "do any of you have anyquestions that you would like to ask?"

Mr. Gonzales smiled warmly,"I have always wanted to 1,:0wwhat makes things work, so I took as many shop course:i in
high school as I could. After I finished military service,I decided that what I enjoyed most was fixing audio equip-ment like radios, televisions, record players, and taperecorders. I enrolled in a special vocational school andstudied for six months. Then I worked in several storesand service centers until I came to Treviiio's. I reallylike what I am doing and that!s important. I know that Ihave the right job for myself."
Margarita's friend Frederico raised his hand. "Do the otherpeople who work here have special training?" he asked."They are all fixing different things."
"Yes," replied Mx. Gonzales. "We each have our special jobhere at the center. So each one of us has gone to school tolearn our job."
"Is your job at all dangerous?" asked one of the girls.
"Esa es una muy buena pregunta",contest6 el Sr. Gonzales."EVes esta radio?" fl levant6 la radio para que toda laclase la viera. "Estos alambres llevan la electricidad.Debo tener mucho cuidado o puede que me d6 la corriente0 me queme. zVen que las herramientas mias tienen mangode goma? It sounds scary," said Margarita.
"I didn't mean to scare you. It isn't dangerous ifyou think about what you are doing." Mr. Gonzalessmiled.
