TabletYou draw points, segments, lines, circles, or triangles on a tablet screen with your finger. sketchometry transforms your sketches into exact objects that can be moved and modified afterwards. Actually you can generate dynamic constructions in two ticks.

Whiteboard Draw the “parallel line” gesture on the board. sketchometry recognizes this gesture and generates a parallel line. Gestures instead of menus – sketchometry sets new standards for dynamic geometry software products.

DesktopDo you prefer working on the desktop with mouse and keyboard? No problem, draw the gestures with the mouse – sketchometry will do the rest.

Constructing and Dragging (Moving)You can construct new objects with sketchometry by drawing sketches on the screen with your finger or the mouse pointer. For that you have to activate the construct mode (button Construct) in the toolbar:

After touching the button Drag (drag mode) you can drag independent points, lines, and circles for instance, or you can rotate lines:

Both Construct and Drag are chosen. Draw new objects and modify their position afterwards.

If only Construct is chosen then objects cannot be moved on the screen. The choice of this mode can be very helpful because now points, lines or other objects cannot be moved accidentally.

If only Drag is chosen then its only possible to move independent points, lines, and other objects or to rotate lines for instance. Drawing an object by accident is not possible. This mode makes sense when you investigate or present and explain a completed construction.

If neither Construct nor Drag is chosen then your construction is fixed. Nevertheless by touching the button Prop. (board/object proper-ties) you can change the appearance of the objects.

Status LineWhen drawing a sketch on the screen with your finger or the mouse pointer the status line indicates the name of the identified object.

(Independent) Point Touch a free position on the tablet screen with your finger. An independent point (in red color) appears. It does not depend on any other object. An inde-pendent point is free to move anywhere on the screen (sketch plane). Every point automatically gets a name. Select the properties menu to change the name.

Dragging a Point To drag a point you touch it with your finger and then move it on the screen.This is only possible for independent points and points on a path. Points of intersection cannot be moved indepen-dently. They can only be moved if at least one of their parent objects also can be moved.

Point of Intersection Touch the intersection of two objects with your finger to mark their point of intersection.If there are more than two intersecting objects on this position then sketcho-metry asks which two objects should intersect.

Glider/Point on a Path A glider/point on a path is constructed on a path object such as a line, a segment, a circle, or a graph of a function. Touch the path object with your finger and a (yellow) point appears. A point on a path is free to move along its path, but cannot leave the path.

Independent Line Sketch a straight line on the tablet screen with your fi nger. sketchometry converts this sketch in an independent line. You can move this line with one fi nger and rotate it with two fi ngers.

Line Draw a straight line through two given points with your fi nger. sketchometry creates a line. By moving one of the two given points you can change the position of the line.

Segment A segment is drawn like a line through two given points. But here you have to start and end the line very close to the given points.Hint: It is advisable to deactivate the Drag mode for this construction!

RayTwo points are given. Start close to one point with your fi nger and draw a line beyond the second point.

Moving a LineYou can move an independent line or a line/segment through two independent points with your fi nger or mouse pointer.

Rotating a LineYou can rotate an independent line with two fi ngers. Grab the line on two different spots and turn the fi ngers against each other.

Independent CircleSketch a circle on the screen with your fi nger or mouse pointer. sketchometry generates an exact circle automatically.

Circle by RadiusTwo points are given. (They indicate the radius.) Start to draw a line close to the fi rst point (center of the circle) with your fi nger. When you have reached the second point (that lies on the circum-ference) then continuously sketch an arc. sketchometry generates a circle with the selected center.

Sector Three points are given. Start close to the selected center, draw a line up to a second point, and then continuously sketch an arc that ends at the third point.

Moving a CircleYou can move a circle with your fi nger or the mouse pointer.

Circle by Three PointsSketch a circle through three given points. sketchometry generates an exact circle through these points and the corresponding center.

Resizing a CircleYou can modify the size/diameter of a circle with two fi ngers. Grab the circle on two spots on the circum-ference and move the fi ngers appropriately. Thus you can shrink or enlarge the circle. You cannot do this movement with the mouse pointer.

Triangle Sketch a triangle on the screen with your fi nger. sketchometry automatically generates independent points at its vertices and draws an exact fi gure.Three (independent) points are given. Connect these points with lines on the screen with your fi nger or the mouse pointer.

Quadrangle Sketch a quadrangle on the screen with your fi nger. sketchometry automatically generates independent points at its vertices and draws an exact fi gure.Four (independent) points are given. Connect these points with lines on the screen with your fi nger or the mouse pointer.

Polygon Connect existing points on the screen by sketching lines with your fi nger or mouse pointer. sketchometry automatically generates a polygon.

Refl ection in a Line Given a straight line to be the mirror for refl ection. Select the point you wish to refl ect and sketch a line with your fi nger until you reach the mirror line. Then continuously move the fi nger back thus drawing a peak of an arrow. The refl ected image of the point appears.

Refl ection in a Point Two points are given, one point is the refl ection center. Select the point you wish to refl ect and sketch a segment to the refl ection center with your fi nger. Then continuously move the fi nger back thus drawing a peak of an arrow. The refl ected image of the fi rst point appears.

Midpoint Two points are given. Start close to the fi rst point and sketch a loop that ends at the second point. sketchometry generates the midpoint between the two given points. The connecting segment between the two points doesn’t have to be visible.

Perpendicular Line Sketch the letter “L” (right angle) with your fi nger. One part of the “L” has to be on the selected line (to which the new line is to be perpendicular).The perpendicular line can be moved with your fi nger or the mouse pointer.

Perpendicular Line If you want to construct a perpendicularline through a specifi c point on the given line then the break point of the “L” has to coincide with this specifi c point on the line.

Perpendicular Segment To construct a perpendicular segment to a line from a point not on this line sketch the letter “L” starting close to the given point. The second part of the “L” has to go along the given line.Note: If you start your sketch too far from the given point, you get a perpendicular line.

Parallel Line To construct a parallel to a given line simply sketch the letter “Z”. Ensure that the fi rst or third part of the “Z” goes along the given line.

Parallel Line How do you construct a line parallel to a given line and through a given point not on this line? Sketch the letter “Z”. The given point has to lie on the fi rst part of the “Z”, and the third part goes along the given line.

Angle Bisector Sketch the letter “W”. The fi rst and last part of the “W” has to go along the legs of the selected angle.

Tangent Line on a Circle Sketch a “T” on the circumference. The horizontal segment of the “T” indicatesthe position of the tangent line. sketchometry generates the touching point (as point on a path) and the corresponding tangent line.

Tangent Line on a Graph Sketch a “T” on the graph of a function.The horizontal segment of the “T” indicates the position of the tangentline. sketchometry generates the touching point (as point on a path) and the corresponding tangent line.

Marking an AngleSketch an arc from the fi rst to the second leg of the angle (counterclock-wise). sketchometry marks the angle with an arc and automatically gives a name. To change this name select the properties menu.

Slope Triangle Sketch a triangle on the tangent line of the graph of a function. (One side of the triangle has to go along the tangent line.) sketchometry generates the corresponding slope triangle.

Copying Length Touch a selected segment on the screen with your fi nger and hold it for some seconds until a circle appears with this segment as radius. Under your fi ngertip there lies the centre of this circle. Now drag the centre together with the circle to the requested position.

Copying Radius Touch the selected circumference with your fi nger and hold it for some seconds until a circle with equal radius appears. Drag the new circle at its center to the requested position.

Moving Construction You can move the whole construction with two fingers.When working with a mouse you have to select the Zoom/Navigation menu in the toolbar.

Zooming Construction Move two fingers towards each other to shrink the construction. Move the two fingers apart to enlarge the construction.When working with a mouse you have to select the Zoom/Navigation menu in the toolbar.
