Report on Oservance of Swachchata Pakhwada

PRIMARY CLASSES:

A number of interesting and fun filled activities were incorporated for the students , all through the fortnight. Some activities were for the primary section as a whole, while some were specifically for each class, keeping in mind their levels and interest.

The general theme was- to waste less! To reduce reuse and recycle .

Assembly activities-

* Each Class (15 in all) was given an opportunity to perform in the assembly with one special activity to show their talent and high light cleanliness in their own special way. Through song, dance and through skits

* The school nurse took one session and it was followed by a demo on How to wash our hands.

Discussion Activity -

Every class had a discussion and brain storming session on cleanliness related issues.

Class I- Clean me and my clean class room- dos and don’ts Class II- What the term” Clean means to me! How can I be “Clean” from inside? Class III-Swasth bache au rswachch school – cleaning session Class IV- How can I make my school better? Class V- Identify how the primary wing could be made cleaner, where does the problem lie?

How to rectify it.

Group Work- Activity for each class was to make students aware of good health and hygiene

Class I-This the way we brush our teeth /this is the way I clean my shoes class II- This the way we brush our teeth /this is the way I clean my shoes Class III-Herbal garden Class IV- snake and ladder game – create one for swachchta Class V- Poster making- swachchta

INDIVIDUAL ACTIVITY –WEALTH FROM WASTE – OPEN COMPETITION FOR ALL!

(All students were given a day to create something new and useful by recycling TRASH. )

Grade I- Individual Activity – coloring. Pictures related to cleanliness. Show and tell &colour it.

Grade II- Swachbachhe salad ! Students made salad and decorated it. This was to inculcate healthy food habits .

Grade III- Give me Five - How I keep my school/class clean .

Grade IV- Show and tell how I used trash to make something useful

Grade V –Slogan making in Hindi/English - swachchvidyalayameinswasthbachche

The grand finale was an exhibition all the hard work put into this mission and with all hopes that our honorable PM’s big dream of a clean India 2020 comes true!

To prepare activities that would contribute to waste reduction,clean classrooms ,reusing paper etc

3 Class discussion with teachers on ways to improve the cleanliness and Do’s and Don’t’s for every class made by the class.

Involvement of students in taking decisions for the cleanliness of the classrooms and school.

4 Gollu with a difference-:

Students to arrange dolls(paper,cloth,earthen)with a message ie a resolution taken by them for Swachch vidyalaya.(no gods/goddesses or religious symbols included)

Educating all students about proper hand washing and girls of VI –XII about proper disposal of sanitary napkins in school toilets by swachchata leaders and teachers.

INITIATIVES FOR SWACHCH VIDYALAYA:

1. Separation of Bio degradable & non-Biodegradable waste –separate bins and disposal points. Non- biodegradable wastes disposed for recycling /processing at OWZONE unit of IIT M

2. Vermicomposting of organic waste.

3. Effective microbes (EM) used for composting food waste (generated during meets/events)

4. Waste- water treatment using solar energy in collaboration with Green environment

5. Incinerator for disposal of sanitary napkins fitted near girls’ washroom.

6. Swachchata leaders for every class to monitor the upkeep of class and follow the initiatives at the class level. ‘Clean class’ Award initiated.

7. Posters and slogans to spread and awareness and remind students of the mission.

8. Clean your home /micro environment – started on October 2nd as an everyday activity for the students.

9. Scouts & guides clean the campus drive.

10 .Design your own snakes and ladders game of clean habits to be inculcated & unclean habits to be avoided class wise as a constant reminder.

11. Hand washing technique demonstrated by the Nurse to all students in the morning assembly.

12. Washrooms fitted with additional soap dispensers and students educated on the proper use of toilets and disposal of sanitary napkins by student leaders and teachers.
