Product Description POLYBATCH® ABACT 420 L is a next generation masterbatch containing an EPA registered antibacterial agent. The antibacterial performance of this masterbatch is based on inorganic, silver ion technology. POLYBATCH® ABACT 420 L offers the advantage of wide spectrum of activity against a range of bacteria while providing improved efficiency over previous generation grades. General Material Status Commercial: Active Availability North America Uses Masterbatch Processing Method Blow Molding Film Extrusion Injection Molding Sheet Extrusion Physical Nominal Value (English) Nominal Value (SI) Additive Content 20.0 % 20.0 % Specific Gravity 1.06 1.06 g/cm³ Moisture Content < 1000 ppm < 1000 ppm Usage Before using POLYBATCH® ABACT, make sure that the base resin you want to use it in doesn't contain sulfur compounds (like thioesters, pigments, etc.) in order to avoid discoloration. POLYBATCH® ABACT 420 L is typically recommended for use at levels between 1.3 and 2.5%, although levels up to 5% are also suitable. Performance 2.0 mil monolayer films with and without POLYBATCH® ABACT 420 L were tested by JIS Z2801. Regulatory FOOD APPROVAL: POLYBATCH® ABACT 420 L is made only from FDA recognized raw materials. Detailed information is available upon request. EPA: Under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA), companies cannot make or infer public health claims related to pesticides for any plastic article unless the article has been approved and registered (licensed) by the EPA, or is covered by the Treated Articles Exemption (TAE) described in Title 40 of the Code of Federal Regulations (40 CFR), part 152.25 (a) and described in Pesticide Registration (PR) Notice 2000-1. The TAE provides exemption from all requirements of FIFRA for qualifying articles or substances treated with, or containing a pesticide, if both of the following conditions are met: 1. The incorporated pesticide is EPA registered for use in the article 2. The sole purpose of the treatment is to protect the article itself. The TAE provides examples of acceptable and unacceptable language that can be used in marketing or labeling the treated article. It is the responsibility of the end user to understand the restrictions and guidelines set forth under FIFRA, 40 CFR 152.25 (a), and PR Notice 2000-1. Packaging & Storage POLYBATCH® ABACT 420 L is packaged into foil-lined gaylords or moisture barrier bags. In general, these products should be stored for up to a maximum of 12 months at 25°C for optimum performance. POLYBATCH® ABACT 420 L is hygroscopic so any opened and unused packages should be resealed thoroughly.
