    Azmi Mohd Ali is the Senior Partner of the firm. Azmi is an experienced corporate lawyer with extensiveexpertise in areas of banking and finance, project finance, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporaterestructuring, privatization and energy, oil and gas.     3. the takeover of EON Bank by EON for a consideration of RM93 million;4. the scheme for the transfer of business resulting in transformation of the insurance business operation of

    Wing-On-Life Assurance Co. Ltd. in Malaysia into a full-fledged insurance company (with a newlicence) owned by EON and CMG (Australia) now known as EON-CMG Life Assurance Sdn Bhd;

    5. the reverse takeover of United Malayan Flour Mills Berhad, a Malaysian company, by a consortium of companies led by Chee Tat Group and the sale of the existing business of United Malayan Flour MillsBerhad;

    6. the issuance of Al-Murabahah Notes Issuance Facility on a tender panel basis of up to RM600 million

    by Tenaga Nasional Berhad;7. the issuance of Al-Bai' Bithaman Ajil Islamic Debts Securities issued on bought Islamic bond structured

    as Al-Bai' Bithaman Ajil with Warrants;8. the Al-Bai' Bithaman Ajil Islamic Debts Securities issued with warrants for up to RM140 million by

    ACPI Berhad, being the first Islamic bonds to be issued on a scriptless basis;9. the sale of 2400 Mega Watt power station by Tenaga Nasional Berhad to a Malakoff Berhad subsidiary

    at a consideration of RM6.27 billion;10. the sale of Melaka Power Station by TNB for a consideration of RM740 Million, statisfied by cash and

    debt instrument;11. the privatisation of Lembaga Letrik Sabah via the takeover of its assets and liabilities by Sabah

    Electricirty Sdn Bhd;12. sale by Tenaga Nasional Berhad of 20% stake in Genting Sanyen Sdn Bhd for RM240 million;13. reverse takeover of a Second Board Company for a purchase price of

    RM160 million;14. international bidding exercise by Telekom Malaysia Berhad for controlling stake in Telekom Kenya

    Limited for a USD120 million;15. fund raising exercise for a toll road operator based on the principles of deferred payment mechanism

    amounting to RM900 million by wat of issuance of RM800 million Al-Bai' Bithaman Ajil Islamic DebtSecurities Facility and RM100 million Murabahah Notes Issuance Facility and/or Islamic Medium TermNotes; and

    16. a syndicated financing exercise for a utility company based on the principle of Ijarah and Istisna for asum of RM95 million.

    He has also represented multinational Malaysian companies in cross border transactions involving companiesfrom the US, UK, Germany, France, Japan, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, Austria, Switzerland, Australia and othercountries.His vast skills and experience in the areas of corporate law are well documented and acknowledged variousinternational publication such as the Asia Law Profiles and in every edition of Legal 500 for the past severalyears. He has been consistently recognized to be the leading corporate lawyer in Malaysia.

    Azmi has attended training attachments with the upstream Legal Department of British Gas PLC and withAshurst, London. He has also attended various international seminars and forums, including those organized bythe Centre for Petroleum and Mineral Law Studies (University of Dundee), ILI (Washington), IBA(Washington), IBA (Manila) and CILS (Kitzbuhl, Austria), and has also presented a paper at an IBAConference in Hong Kong. In addition, his articles have appeared in World Energy Yearbook 2000, publishedby Petroleum Economist and Ernst & Young, and Fundamentals of the Global Power Industry, Yearbook 2000published by Arthur Andersen and Petroleum Economist, Fundamentals of the Global Offshore Industry,Yearbook 2001 and International Power Finance 2002/2003.

    Azmi is a fellow of the Centre of International Legal Studies (based in Salzburg) and was also appointed byBank Negara Malaysia to sit as a member of the legislative review committee to facilitate the furtheradvancement of Islamic Banking in Malaysia.
