Dominican’s Graduate School of Library and Information Science has long been a presence on Chicago’s higher education landscape, first offering library science programs in the 1930s.For more than 80 years, we’ve been there. Inspiring learners. Producing Leaders. Shaping the world of library and information science so that individuals and families everywhere get the most out of their library experience. At the Graduate School of Library and Information Science (GSLIS), ours is a higher standard. Scheduling Options Beginning in Fall 2012, you may earn an MLIS in
two years at the University Center of Lake County in Grayslake, Illinois. Beginning in Fall 2012, you may earn an MLIS in
two years on the weekends, taking classes mostly on the Main Campus but also online, downtown, and at UCLC. We do not offer a separate, online-only MLIS;
however, many courses are offered online or in a hybrid format.

Master of Professional Studies
A second professional degree for holders of ALA-accredited MLIS or related information degrees, certified school librarians, archivists, etc. 10 courses (30 hours) Certificates (up to 2) may count toward the MPS A thesis is NOT required
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
Completion of degree in 3 years (option to extend) Cohort model; all classes on weekends Allows professionals to complete the degree without career interruption 12 courses (36 hours); six required courses & six electives courses Dissertation
