Education is a continuous process – a blend of factors and influences that form character and personality. Two institutions however, play a prominent role and have formal educational responsibilities before the law and society – the family and the school. Each of these institutions cannot operate on their own… Communication and co-operation between them is therefore essential.

Parents have always been and always will be the first educators of a child. They have the right and the duty to lay the intellectual and emotional bases for their children’s lives and to help develop their system of values and attitudes. Children learn best from those they love. Parents, you are your child’s first and most influential teacher!An Educational system / school must aim towards training young people to be good citizens and sound professionals, providing them with the basics for a life long learning and personal development.

aS YoUR chIld’S TEachERS aT hoME, PaREnTS can: • Schedule a daily homework time. Encourage your child’s efforts and be

available for questions. Spend time discussing.

• Read together. Taking the time to read is the most successful way to encourage kids to read and is critical to a child’s education.

• Use TV wisely. Establish a TV viewing budget and help your child choose programmes for viewing. Select programmes to watch together and discuss.

• Offer praise and encouragement. Encourage your child to put in time and effort to complete assignments, to work hard. Encourage them to persevere. Cultivate a warm and supporting atmosphere while also setting and enforcing standards for schoolwork.

• Talk to their children. Know their friends and whereabouts. Support them in their school and extra-curricular activities. Keep them involved in family activities. Stress their importance as role models to younger siblings.

• Communicate values openly with your children. By talking about and living values like honesty, self – reliance and responsibility parents are helping their children make good decisions.

• Cultivate healthy eating habits, junk food like chips, pastries and aerated drinks should not be a regular feature in snack boxes. Diet plays a major role in the all-round development of a child.

• Ensure healthy sleeping habits. Encourage your child to sleep at a set time – EVERYDAY. Children need a minimum of 8 hours of sleep. Quite a number of children cannot enjoy their learning in school, as they are too sleepy.

IN RELATION TO SCHOOL, PARENTS SHOULD • Let the children be responsible for completing class work.

• Reinforce values and discipline instilled in school

• Respect teachers for the nobility of their profession and give timely response to their feedback and observations.

• Avoid criticizing your child’s teachers in the presence of the children. The teachers are their role models in school.

• Seek the advice of the teachers if you think your child needs special help.

• Behavioural, Academic and Emotional problems in children may be directed to the School Counselor.

• Trust the school authorities enough to know that they have the best interests of your children. Offer active and enthusiastic support for all school activities.

• Kindly discourage your child from taking leave as far as possible.

• You are expected to go through your child’s diary daily to check whether there is a message for you and countersign it.

• Keep in touch with the day progress of your child and discuss it with the authorities regularly at the appointed hours.

• Criticism of a student’s teacher or the school in the presence of the child should be avoided because it may cause the student to lose respect for the teacher and the school.

• The school teachers do not take tuitions for their own class students. So, do not force them to teach your wards privately.

• Kindly inform the school if there is any change in address.

• Only English should be spoken in the school premises in order to obtain a command over spoken English. Parents are requested to encourage this practice at home also.

• After every periodical evaluation, the parents of students who have not performed well, will have to meet Principal to take the progress reports in person at the appointed time which will be intimated

• Parents are requested to examine the progress reports issued and take up remedial measures in consultation with the Principal.

• Parents are requested to contact the school office for any official purpose.

• The school periodically organizes parent - teacher meetings in which talks are arranged on child education and child welfare. Attendance of at least one of the parents at all such meetings is compulsory.

• Parent / Guardians may see the teachers or children only after obtaining permission from the Principal. They are requested not to enter and disturb classes.

• Parents who wish to meet teachers to discuss regarding their wards academic or behavioural issues or to make any inquiry with teachers, can come between 2:30 to 3.00pm from Monday to Friday.

• Entrusting a pupil to the school implies that the parents agree to abide by the rules and regulations of the school. Parents should see that their children prepare home lessons properly and devote at least 2-3 hours in the evening to their studies.

• As Educating a child is primarily the responsibility of the parents, they are expected to co-operate with the school with regard to pupil’s integral growth. Parents are requested to follow up the child in the process of growth and maintain a cordial, co-operative relationship with the school authorities.

School WebsiteAll the school circulars are published on the school website ‘www.donbosconerul.com’. Parents are encouraged to go through the website and keep themselves up to date with the latest happenings in the school. The circulars are normally published every Tuesdays and Thursdays.

There are many other features on the website. Parents are requested to log in to the website with the username and password provided to them. Teachers will be entering the student’s remarks (positive or negative). You are requested to go through all these features on the website. Kindly update your child’s profile periodically (in case of change in address, email address or mobile number).

GENERAL INFORMATIONa. GEnERal InFoRMaTIon1. Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, Nerul is an English Medium School

run by the Salesians of Don Bosco.2. It is a Catholic Institute, established and administered under Minority Rights.

It caters to the Catholic community, but to the extent possible, its doors are also open to other communities irrespective of caste or creed.

3. We follow the Don Bosco Educational method of Reason, Faith and loving Kindness. This is based on the conviction that the heart of education is the education of the heart. • The constant search for value which promotes one’s human and civil

culture • The authentic experience of God, live in simplicity and translated into a

communal rapport with one’s neighbor. • The kindness that strengthens the bond of friendship, builds up the family

and creates solidarity. • Accepting Mary, our Blessed Mother, as the Model for women, as

Teacher and Mother, who helps, guides, protects and teaches self-giving, for the service of others.

4. At Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, the process of education involves bringing together young people, their parents / guardians, the Management and Staff, to form an INTEGRATED COMMUNITY.

5. The school conducts certain drives for funds for charitable /educational causes during the year. Kindly note that no student or parent is ever compelled to donate towards these funds. Any contribution should be made out of sheer goodwill and bearing in mind the purpose of the collection which is always clearly announced beforehand and duly carried out.

6. Medical inspection of the pupils is held regularly by competent team of doctors, who issue a report of each student, and this is sent to the parents for follow - up.

7. An in-house Counselor interviews each student and compiles a Report and Recommendations for further medical or psychological intervention, which is passed on to the parents for further action.

b. adMISSIon and WIThdRaWal1. Admissions are done by the Principal and the management in accordance

with the Admission policy of the institution.

2. An Entrance test may be conducted at the discretion of the school authorities to ensure the academic standard of the pupil seeking admission.

3. If the candidate seeking admission has previously attended any school, a conduct certificate and transfer certificate from the previous school must be produced. In the case of candidates coming from outside Maharashtra State or any board other than CBSE, the transfer certificate must be countersigned by the Education Officer of that State.

4. Admission may be refused to a candidate who is too old for the class into which admission is sought.

5. Application for Transfer certificate shall be made in writing to the Principal by the parent or the legal guardian of the pupil.

6. No certificate of any kind will be issued to students who are in arrears of fees, etc.

c. School RUlES1. Each pupil must possess a copy of this Handbook which should be well

maintained. The handbook must be brought to school daily. If he / she does not do so his / her parents can be called and asked to bring the handbook to School. The student may also be refrained from attending classes till the Handbook is brought.

2. All students will wear the sports uniform on the day allotted to them.3. Shoes must be regularly cleaned and polished.4. Personal hygiene and neatness are essential. Hair must be well groomed. It

must be cut short in the case of boys and neatly tied in the case of girls with long hair

5. Chewing gum is forbidden in school.6. Parent are advised not allow their children to wear or bring any valuables to school.7. Mobile phones, CD’s, books and magazines of objectionable nature should

not be brought to school.8. All pupils are expected to take part in co – curricular activities of the school

as part of their education. Sports Days & Annual Days are important school events in which students are expected to participate.

9. Purchase of food articles from roadside vendors is prohibited.10. Only English should be spoken in the school premises since it is the medium

of instruction in the school, thus maintaining a certain level of proficiency.11. Pupils are encouraged to develop a spirit of generosity. However, no gifts of

any sort, individual or collective, should be given to the teachers.12. Pupils must keep not only their classrooms but the entire campus, neat and

free of litter.

13. Movement to the classroom after Assembly and to and from Physical Education (P. E.) classes, Library and Laboratories should be in silence and in an orderly manner.

14. School games and exercise is compulsory for all except in the case of exemption by medical authority.

15. Notebooks will be checked periodically. Students are responsible for submitting the notebooks at the specified time in a neat manner.

16. No pupil who fails for two years in succession will be permitted to continue to study in the school.

17. Dyeing of hair, wearing of long earrings, growing French beard or any other form of undesirable style is strictly banned. Any student deliberately violating the rule will be suspended.

18. No books or paper of any kind should be brought to the examination hall by the pupil and nothing should be written on the question paper. Every pupil should have the required writing and drawing materials and no lending or borrowing is permitted in the examination hall.

19. Absolute silence is to be maintained in the examination hall. Pupils who make use of unfair means during examinations will be severely dealt with; even those who help in any way to have recourse to unfair means will be punished. Punishment will be to the extent of dismissal.

20. A student who is found copying or helping another student to copy will be awarded only zero marks in that respective paper, he may also be suspended from school according to the discretion of the Principal. At the end of the year he may be asked to take his transfer certificate.

d. PRoMoTIon RUlESPromotions are decided based on pupil’s performance throughout the year. A combination of Grades and report serves to assess the progress of the child. The Pupil’s attainment of communication skill in English will be measured through a continuous assessment. There are regular ‘open day’ when the performance of the child, both academic and social, is communicated to the parent. it is necessary that parents are prepared for the meeting with questions about their child / ward.

The transition from Pre - Primary to Primary section, IX to X and Xl to Xll Class will follow a certain procedure. Admission to these classes must be sought by filling an Application Form.

The application will be scrutinized for acceptance according to the performance of the pupil.

E. FEE RUlES1. Fees are to be paid online through any Bank Credit Card, Debit Card,

Internet Banking or Demand Draft by 10th of every month. Online payment will be accepted through HDFC Bank (www.hdfcbank.com/payments - Click on Fees).

2. In case of Demand Draft – drawn in favour of “Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, Nerul”. The Pupil’s Name, Class, Section, Student ID, HDFC Bank Account number and Mobile number are to be entered on the reverse side of the Demand Draft. Fee challan has to be collected from Accounts office in School and it has to be submitted along with Demand Draft in HDFC Bank, Seawoods Branch. Kindly note Demand Drafts will not be collected after 10th of every month that is the due date for fee payment.

3. NEFT / RTGS / CHEQUE payments will not be accepted.

4. Please note the school shall not accept cash payments. As per CBSE guidelines fees should be collected via online transaction. (Digital mode).

5. Kindly note that Tuition fees are payable for 12 months. Term fees and Co-Curricular Activity fees are payable thrice a year. Gymkhana fee, Examination fee, Library fee and P.T.A. Membership fee are payable once a year. (Classes IX & X - Laboratory fees are payable once a year. Classes XI & XII Science – Laboratory fees are payable for 12 months.) Fees may be paid in advance for quarterly, half yearly or annually.

10. In case of mid-term withdrawal of a student, fees will be charged till the month

of withdrawal. Pupils joining the school mid-term should pay the fees as per

11. To postpone payment of fees in emergency situations, prior permission

must be secured from the School Management in writing.

12. If fees are not paid in time, appropriate action will be taken.

F. PRIVaTE TUITIonSTaking Tuitions has become a necessary evil. It is not praiseworthy and is a source of many irregularities in the life of the pupils and the school.

Hence:1) It should be undertaken with discretion and only to the extent necessary.2) All Tuitions, both on payment and the so-called goodwill guidance will only be

undertaken on with the permission of the Principal.3) Staff members of this school, should not be approached for private tuitions of

pupils, subject taught by them in class.4) Parents and staff members will be required to fill in tuition register periodically

/ once a term for the details of pupils tutored.5) No new tuitions will be allowed for the current school year, after December.

G. RaIlWaY concESSIonRailway Concession forms are available at the Reception.

h. aTTEndancE1. Regular attendance is a key requisite for a good student and Don Bosco

Senior Secondary School attaches much importance to it. A special certificate is awarded to students with hundred percent attendance.

2. Pupils must be punctual to class. Latecomers will not be allowed to enter the class unless an entry is made in the Handbook and verified by the teacher in the class. Students who are late more than three times in a month will be told to go home.

3. If a pupil remains absent for one day or more, due to illness or any other plausible reason, he / she must fill up the absence record on the special page provided in the calendar, duly signed by his / her parent. If a pupil is ill for two days, the fact must be communicated to the school. Absence for 3 to 5 days on medical grounds must be accompanied by a medical certificate and should be sanctioned by the Supervisor. If a pupil is ill for more than 5 days, the parent must accompany the child with a doctor’s certificate and a letter explaining the absence. For any other absence of more than 5 days, a written sanction of the Principal is required. In every case, the absence must be recorded in the handbook. If a student is absent for more than 10 days and the reason for absence is not communicated in writing, then the student’s name is liable to be struck off from the rolls / register.

4. No pupil may be absent (other for reason of illness) without obtaining leave previously and in writing from the Principal. If for any grave reason, a pupil is absent without prior leave, on his return he must be accompanied by the parent. As a rule leave for family / social celebrations will not be granted.

5. During school hours no pupil is allowed to leave the classroom without the permission of the teacher or until the class is dismissed. Written permission of the Principal / Headmistress / Supervisor is required for the pupil to leave the premises during the school hours. Breach of these rules will be viewed seriously.

6. Pupils must return to school on the REOPENING DAY after the holidays. (Ganesh Chaturthi, Deepavali, Christmas, etc.)

7. Leave, absence, and late attendance record of the pupils must always be kept up-to-date.

8. Pupils are not permitted to remain in the class room, except during class hours. Exceptions need special permission.

9. Pupils themselves are responsible for the safe custody of their books and belongings. It is not advisable for them to bring money or valuable articles to the school.

J. condUcT oUTSIdE ThE claSSRooM1. Every pupil should try to keep up the high tone of Don Bosco Senior Secondary

School by excelling in good manners and exemplary behaviour towards the staff and the students.

2. Scribbling on the walls or furniture or floor is to be strictly avoided. Any damage to school property including games and sports equipment will have to be made good. The decision of the Principal / Administrator regarding the amount to be paid is final.

3. Dangerous or harmful games and amusements are strictly forbidden. In a spirit of love the pupils are expected to share with one another the limited premises of the school, avoiding everything that hurts one another.

4. After the classes or any function, the pupils must leave the school building and the premises in an orderly and disciplined manner.

5. During school hours pupils may leave the premises ONLY with the permission of the Principal and after informing the class teacher.

6. Pupils are not allowed to use the school address to receive letters or other correspondence without special permission.

7. All pupils are responsible to the school authorities for their behaviour even outside the school. On their way to and from school, they are expected to behave with proper decorum.

8. Irregular attendance, habitual idleness or neglect of duty, long absence without permission leave note, disrespect toward the members of the staff, indocility to correction, malpractices during test, stealing, bad moral influence or any other grave fault deemed as such by the school authorities justifies severe sanctions from the school.

9. All pupils are expected to go home immediately after class, and not stay back in school unless permitted for a specific activity or practices. Parents are expected to take responsibility for their children after school hours and make necessary arrangements to take their children home on time.

ASSESSMENT SYSTEM Educating young children is indeed a challenge in present societies. The new generation needs to be provided with the awareness, abilities and mental strength to take up responsibilities in real world situations. The evaluation systems and attitudes of young children have to be guided and defined. Children have many developmental needs; some have learning disabilities, others have emotional and behavioural problems that have to be identified and addressed. Above all the real challenge lies in designing meaningful curriculum that helps to develop and sustain healthy, productive and ethical minds. Towards this need, Don Bosco Senior Secondary School follows a holistic approach to educating children. The environment is essentially child centered and focuses on developing mutual trust and understanding between the teacher and the student.

Our educational goals are oriented towards confidence building, developing intellectual curiosity with scope for exploration and hands on learning as well as fostering a spirit of living in harmony. MULTIPLE ASSESSMENT - WORKSHEETS FOR CLASSES IX AND X:• Students will be assessed using multiple choice questions.

• Three worksheets of 20 marks each will be conducted in each term.

• Marks of these worksheets will be reduced to 30.

• Worksheets will be conducted in April, June, August, October, November and January for Class IX.

• Worksheets will be conducted in April, June, and August for Class X.

(i) Periodic Test (5 marks):The School will conduct three periodic written tests in the entire academic year and the average of the best two will be taken. The schools have the autonomy to make its own schedule. However, for the purpose of gradient learning, three tests may be held as one being the mid-term test and the other two being pre mid and post mid-term with portion of syllabus cumulatively covered. The gradually increasing portion of contents would prepare students to acquire confidence for appearing in the Board examination with 100% syllabus. The school will take the average of the best two tests for final marks submission.

(ii) Multiple assessment (5 marks) :The schools are given autonomy to use alternate modes of assessment as per the demand of the subject and the context towards addressing the goal of assessment for and as learning, such as, quizzes, portfolio, project-work, Self and peer assessment, collaborative projects, experiments, classroom demonstrations, etc.

(iii) Portfolio (5 marks) :A range of evidences of student performances is being assessed. It is a tool for assessing a variety of skills not usually testable in a single setting of the traditional written paper and pencil tests. It is an extension of note books developed subject-wise. They would include classwork and homework assignments that would help evaluate learner’s progress. Besides this, portfolio is a space for student to display his/her exemplary work in the related area.

(iv) Subject Enrichment activities (5 marks):These are subject specific application activities aimed at enrichment of the

understanding and skill development. These activities are to be recorded internally by respective subject teachers.

For Languages: Activities conducted for subject enrichment in languages will aim at equipping the learner to develop effective speaking and listening skills.

For Mathematics: The listed laboratory activities and projects as given in the prescribed publication of CBSE/NCERT may be followed.

For Science: The listed practical works / activities may be carried out as prescribed by the CBSE in the curriculum.

For Social Science: Map and project work may be undertaken as prescribed by the CBSE in the curriculum.

Examination at two levels is being held in the subject of Mathematics in the Board examination for Class X from the year 2020 onwards and the same shall not be applicable to the internal assessment in class X. For details please refer Circular No. Acad. 03/2019. It may be noted that the students who are opting Mathematics - Basic will have the option of taking Applied Mathematics (241) as an Elective at Class XI/Sr. Secondary though they may not be permitted to take Mathematics (041) at Senior Secondary level. However a student who has opted for Mathmetics - standard can offer any one of the two available Mathematics at Senior Secondary level..

• The candidate must have at least 75% of attendance in the classes held counted from the day of commencing teaching of Class XI / XII, as the case may be, up to the 1st of the month preceding the month in which the final examination of the School / Board commences.

• In order to be declared as having passed the Class XI Examination, a candidate shall obtain 33% marks in all the subjects of the Annual Examination held at the end of the academic session. The pass marks in each subject of examination shall be 33%. In case of subject involving practical work a candidate must obtain 33% marks in theory and 33% in practical separately in addition to 33% marks in aggregate in order to qualify in that subject.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS1. Evaluations will be given in the specified period / day as per the schedule

mentioned in the school calendar. In case a Worksheet / Evaluation is not held due to holidays / unforeseen circumstances, it will be conducted during the next class / day.

2. In case of absenteeism, Evaluations will not be repeated under any circumstance.

3. In case of absenteeism for medical reasons only (Medical Certificate to be produced), the average performance of the child over the semester may be considered at the end of the semester on a case to case basis.

4. For practicals / activities / projects and any subjects students must bring the items specified by the teacher and complete the assigned work in class. Assessment will not be repeated under any circumstance.

5. When a child is absent, the class work and home assignments specified by the teacher during his / her absence must be completed by the child in his / her own handwriting.

6. Parents are not allowed to write / draw in the notebooks.

7. Marks are given for completion of work on time and maintenance of books.

FAQ’S ON THE EVALUATION SYSTEM

Q1. What if my child is absent for a Worksheet?Ans. The child is assessed on various parameters and not only performance in

Worksheets. This is mainly to enable the child to focus on one subject per day. Please note that worksheets are for practice only. In case of absenteeism the child will be handed over the practice worksheets on the day he / she comes to school.

Q2. Why does my child have two worksheets in a day sometimes?Ans. This may happen when a worksheet could not be held on the scheduled day

due to holidays / unforeseen circumstances. In such cases, it will be held during the next or previous class / day.

Q3. Why does my child have to make charts / projects for the school?Ans. At Don Bosco, value based topics are allotted house-wise for each fortnight.

This enables the educators to focus on these values and inspire our children to grow as better human beings. To spread greater awareness, teachers plan some activities for their students. Class notice boards are also used to highlight the themes. Children must take pride in wholeheartedly participating and contributing to the class activities. While it is expected that children work on these charts / projects, the support and guidance of parents always encourages the child to present quality work. Quality and content of the charts are also assessed by the subject teacher as well as for value education.

Q6. When can my child expect the corrected worksheets / projects etc?Ans. The corrected worksheets will be returned not later than 7 working days from

the date of the specific evaluation.

Q7. When will my child’s notebook / workbook be corrected by the teacher?Ans. Teachers are expected to correct the notebooks/workbooks as soon as each

topic / exercise is completed. All corrected books will also be returned to the students before every weekend and before any evaluation. Students are expected to submit completed work. In case of absence from school, it’s the student’s / parent’s responsibility to ensure that the classwork / homework is collected from fellow students/teacher and the student is made to complete the work before correction. Marks will be deducted for incomplete work.

THE HOUSE SYSTEMThe School is divided into four houses. At Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, we emphasize the importance of directly teaching students the behaviour we want them to demonstrate at school. Communicating behavioural expectations is a form of Universal Behaviour Support – a strategy directed towards all students, designed to prevent behavioural problems. It also provides a framework for responding to unacceptable behaviour.

A set of behavioural expectations in specific settings has been attached to each of our three school rules. The School Wide Expectations Teaching Matrix below outlines our agreed rules and specific behavioural expectations in all school settings. These expectations are communicated to students via a number of strategies, including:

7. consequences for unaccePTable behaviourDon Bosco Senior Secondary School makes systematic efforts to prevent behavioural problems by teaching and reinforcing expected behaviour on an ongoing basis. When unacceptable behaviour occurs, students experience predictable consequences. Our school seeks to ensure that responses to unacceptable behaviour are consistent and proportionate to the nature of the behaviour. The school records all minor and major behavioural problems.

MINOR AND MAJOR BEHAVIOURAL PROBLEMSWhen responding to a behavioural problem the staff member first determines if the behavioural problem is major or minor, with the following agreed understanding:

GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL CELLDon Bosco Senior Secondary School has started its Grievance Redressal Cell from the academic year 2019 – 2020. The function of the cell is to look into the complaints lodged by any student, and judge its merit. Anyone with a genuine grievance may approach the School Principal or address his/her grievances to the Grievance redressal cell. The objective of the Grievance Cell is to develop a responsive and accountable attitude among all the stakeholders in order to maintain a harmonious educational atmosphere in the institute.

The Grievances may broadly include the following complaints of the aggrieved students

a. Academic / Non - Academic

b. Grievance related to Assessment / Victimization / Attendance / Charging of Fees

c. Grievance regarding conducting of Examinations

d. Harassment by colleague, students or the teachers etc.

Procedure for lodging complaint:» The students may feel free to put up a grievance in writing addressed

to the Principal.

» The Grievance Cell will act upon those cases which have been forwarded along with the necessary documents.

» The Grievance Cell will assure that the grievance has been properly solved in a stipulated time limit provided by the cell.

Responsibility for Redressal :1. The final responsibility for grievance Redressal rests with the Principal

of the School.

2. The school expects that grievance Redressal be time bound and result oriented. Every grievance is expected to be resolved within a reasonable period.

3. The grievance Redressal cell of the school shall monitor status and progress of grievance Redressal and shall furnish report on grievance

Redressal position to the Principal of the school.

PARENT – TEACHER’S ASSOCIATION RULES AND REGULATIONS

NAME: The Association shall be called Don Bosco Senior Secondary School PARENT – TEACHER ASSOCIATION.

RECOGNITION: Every parent will therefore be encouraged to become its member and support its activities all of which are to be service-oriented and within the framework of the School’s requirements as determined by the Management. To this end, the School Manager or the Chairman of the School Governing Body (Management Board) will be ex-officio Patron of the PTA.

THE RATIONALE & OBJECTIVES: The parents at home and the teachers at school / senior secondary look after the development of the child in different through some what overlapping fields. It is in the interest of the child’s personality that this development should be harmonious. Mutual understanding between parents and teachers is plainly imperative. Besides, parents often have the feelings that school / senior secondary function in a manner oblivious of the parents’ view-point. This at times may give rise to some misunderstanding. On the other hand Teachers often have feelings that parents should be more co-operative and if the suggestions of the teachers as to the way a child should be dealt with at home, were considered and given effect to, the work of the teacher in School / Senior Secondary would be considerably facilitated. An Association which provides contact between parents and teachers is thus a self-evident necessity. The Association will therefore endeavor:

a) to promote, maintain and develop opportunities for meetings and contact between parents and teachers, and among parents themselves.

b) to establish means of communication and exchange of the view-points of both, on matters of general importance to the education and development of the children.

c) to organise debates, seminars and group discussions on all topics connected with the education and development of the children.

d) to assist parents in solving the collective problems of the School and to assist the School and its Staff in solving the general and individual problems of the children at home.

e) to find benefactors to donate scholarships and prizes for each class.

f) to assist the School / Senior Secondary Management in raising funds in the name of the school and for the School’s need.

g) to co-operate with organisations having similar objectives.

h) to take, in general, such steps as may be incidental or conducive to the attainment of the above objectives.

i) to suggest and take the necessary steps to help improve the performance of the weaker students.

j) to help the School / Senior Secondary to work out a plan of completing the syllabus.

k) to support the activities of the School / Senior Secondary.

l) to ensure collection of the tuition fees, term fees and fees for other activities.

N.B.: In working towards the objectives, the Association will be guided by the Management of the school / senior secondary and with the underlying principle of ensuring that all the actions are in the best interest of the students without compromising the long term interest of the school / senior secondary. To facilitate a collaborated effort, the school / senior secondary Management shall have the right to attend any meeting of the PTA or its committees and to take part in discussions and to recommend, or if necessary, direct anything to be done or not to be done. To enable them to do so, they will send notices and minutes of all meetings in advance along with notices to other members.

MEMBERSHIP: While membership is entirely voluntary, every parent is encouraged to become a member of the Association recognized by the School Management.

a) Nominal fee of Rs. 50/- will be charged to all parents to be a member of the P.T.A.

b) Membership of the Association ceases when students leave the school / Senior Secondary.

THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE: The Executive Committee shall consist of the following members.

a) The Principal.

b) Five members of the staff to be nominated by the Principal.

c) Parents nominated from amongst elected representatives of each division of every class (Working Committee)
