Dear Alumni, Friends and Corporate Supporters,

Wilmington University passed the 25,000 mark in alumni membership

with the graduating class of 2008. This comes at the beginning of a very special

year for us because it was on September 22, 1968 that the first student walked

through the arches to begin classes at the New Castle site. Many activities have

been planned to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the University and it was

fitting that our first event was an alumni reunion picnic to welcome all of our

alums back to campus.

Wilmington University is fortunate to have an extended family of alumni,

friends and corporate supporters who continually invest their time, talent and

treasure to insure that the University continues to create educational oppor-

tunities for people in the region

who share a commitment for po-

tential learning at Wilmington

YOur uNiversitY is GrOwiNG! Since its humble beginnings as a commuter college in 1968, Wilmington University has seen tremendous growth and change. The University, which was once a college, now has 11 locations in Delaware and southern New Jersey and serves a student body of over 11,500.

Students can choose from 31 undergraduate degrees or 22 graduate degrees in a variety of different programs. Many students who attend Wilmington University are attracted to the flexible schedules, which allow students to take courses in the evening, during the day, online or on weekends. Recently the University began offering online degrees, an option that has been extremely popular among incoming and current students.

The class of 2008 was the largest graduating class to date consisting of 2,367 degree recipients. Additionally, Wilmington University welcomed over 25,000 alumni in 2008, a number that continues to rise.

I began my experience in 1999 as a graduate student in the

mBa program. It was certainly a unique experience for me. I

met many new friends and learned a variety of strategies and

techniques for success in the business world. I am proud to say

I was honored with the Presidential award for community service

at graduation in may 2002. shortly after, I began teaching

marketing research as an adjunct and I continue to do so each

year. It is a privilege to serve the University and give back by

providing students with the knowledge to

succeed in the business world. my wife has

had the opportunity to take courses here

too where she can expand her teaching

knowledge and give back to the community.

am proud of Wilmington University and the Tool- Kit provided by a group of dedicated Educators and

enthusiastic Administrators. 1968 and 1969 were memorable times, not unlike 2008.

A few names come to mind: The Hodapps, Dean Tarpey, Jeramiah Sullivan and Joe Farnan. These individuals were true educators and counselors that never wavered in their dedication and patience. They cleverly implied that a personal commitment is the first step to success.
