The drawings of my life
“The artist must have something to say because his duty is not to dominate the form but bring it to a content”.
Kandinsky
What is it that, which moves the world? Why can end the world for a person? How to kill a person? They say the day
you no longer have dreams, that day will be finished. We can watch our end when we have already exhausted our
dreams when already been the bread and water run out. Our mind cannot endure life without dreams. Why art is so
important in the lives of all of us, because we artists dream the great dream of our nations. When we encounter
music, theater, dance, literature and cinema we are encountering ourselves -culturally and emotionally- with the
dreams of others. Thus, what we are and what we can become is defined by the rigor of the questions that, in the
pursuit of our dreams, we have to ask ourselves either as citizens, as professionals of science and humanities, or as
artists. Who are we and what are we here for? It is hard not to wonder about our identity and our destiny. Those
voices that challenge me, compel me to bring answers through my artistic work.
The drawings of my life
I've always been doing scribbles and cartoons. I imagined stories continuously. I have always had this extraordinary
manifestation of intuition that would connect me with stories and drawings. I had this vision that would end in front
of a paper drawing cartoons or with a film camera and when I was in university, despite studying Education, I had that
pretend to own the images to keep telling stories and narrate those I invented and tale as a child and teenager. I
began to exhibit in art galleries my town and my country.
I became interested in Comic and I developed it so passionately. I promoted local and national seminars, and
workshops for people who wanted to tell a story with drawings. I did not study in any school of Fine Arts, and Faculty
of Communication Sciences; however I got unexpected comic awards, I published my early works thanks to the
sponsorship of local, national and international institutions and even I became a teacher in a school Comic for such a
long time. I realized that the comic is a wonderful work of art to educate, entertain, motivate and raise awareness
people. But it's not enough. I want to take my characters beyond the borders of my country and develop a workshop
with characters and myths of my ancestral culture (Moche, Chimu, Inca), culminating in an exhibition of the work of
the participants are children or youth. I need to learn from the experience of you and share my culture through
comics.
