US DOT hazardous materials regulations (49 CFR Part 172, Subpart H) require companies that ship these materials to comply with a laundry list of standards and regulations. Materials must be properly classified, packaged, and labeled. Training is mandatory for hazmat employees within 90 days of being hired, and it must be repeated every three years. Documentation of training is also required, which can become overwhelming if not managed efficiently.
