BODY TEXT:Was it always your dream to be where you are now?Yeah always, music was my dream. I fell in love with it I use to go to LA during summer holidays to work with my producer Jermaine tailor. The love for music made me so motivated and I believed in myself. I recorded my first song with him and within that year I got my first label offer when I was around 16 not too long ago. Who inspired you to write your music?I have many inspirations one of them is R. Kelly I am a big fan of his. R. Kelly is a musical genius I’m actually doing a song featuring him. Its mad how I’m working with famous people who I wanted to be like you know it was like a dream and now its reality. I thank all my fans for giving me this position it means a lot, my life has changed.Do you find it hard juggling family commitments with life as a music artist?I’m still a young man, but after more recognition and releasing more albums I’m gonna buy my mamma her first house. I’m a family man all commitments are to my family; my music career allows me to give this commitment. I don’t believe it’s hard but it’s different now I’ve been going around tryna get my album sorted out so a lot less time has been spent at home. How did your friends react to your recent success?I don’t think they expected me to go further at this age like working with R. Kelly, Akon and Pitbull I mean it’s a blessing. But yeah they’ve got my back all the way they’ve been supportive. Are there any artists you want to collaborate with?Well there are two artists Fabulous and Trey Songz. I don’t know how they do it they released 5 and 3 albums out that’s dope in such a short period of time and not a lot of artists can do that. Their albums ain’t shit either you can tell they put a lot of work into it and not just tryna release bare albums. What was it like performing alongside Pitbull?Live! That’s the only way I can describe it. Did he give you any advice?Yeah sort of, just told a bit of everything like how I will get better in my music and I have a lot to achieve and his glad he worked with me and didn’t believe it was the number one hit, yeah that was about it. He gave me a lot of positive feedback and was pleased. He is some one I would like to work with againWhat advice would you give to other young rappers who are just starting out in their careers? To try their hardest literally put everything into it. The more you try the better and confident you get. People at a young age tend to give up when they do have talent and can get into the game if they just motivated and believed in them selvesAny final shout outs?Shout out to my producer Jermaine tailor, Pitbull, Akon, R. Kelly, Marcus who all helped me to get where I am nowWe heard you have been hitting up Jennifer Naulder on twitter, what’s going on there?Nah it’s nothin’ just a high school friend I’m not looking for a relationship I wanna concentrate on my music

Are there any artists you want to collaborate with?Well there are two artists Fabulous and Trey Songz. I don’t know how they do it they released 5 and 3 albums out that’s dope in such a short period of time and not a lot of artists can do that. I will have a grey and white background similar to my front cover so the style of the magazine cover matches the double page spread.

As my front cover has used the font Rockwell I will use the same font as I only want a maximum of 3 fonts as it will look more professional.

So my caption font will be Rockwell Extra Bold as I want it to stand out because it is a important text and won’t make the image look so plain. I will keep the colour of it black as it will stand out against the grey background I will have.

My article title will also be Rockwell Extra Bold as it stands out and it is also a clear font. All my important text which I want to stand out will be in Rockwell Extra Bold. My article title will be black and will be the largest text on the page. The article title will be in capital letters to emphasise the name and make it more appealing.

Rockwell Extra Bold is a serif font which is easier to read than sans serif. It is usually for large blocks of text however I am using it for a small amount. This is because I want it to look like a newspaper title where they use serif font. I believe it makes it more bolder.

My caption is also of serif font and will be in capital letters to take up space and make it look more revealing then the other text.

My drop cap will be in blue to give the double page spread a bit of colour otherwise it won’t look appealing. Blue was chosen as it is one of my main colours on my front cover. My drop cap will be larger then my leading text.

My pull quote will have the font Rockwell Extra Bold. All text will be in capital letters in order to stand out. The font colour will be blue to show that it is separated from the body text and it makes it more appealing and brings more attention to it.

Questions will be in black and bold. It will be in bold to make it clear that it is a question. The body text will be the second smallest text as the page number will be the smallest text. The caption will be the second largest and then the pull quote will be the third largest

I haven’t decided the size of all my text but I have a brief idea on how large everything will be. Also I haven’t decided what font my body text will be so while making my double page spread I will experiment the fonts and see which one suits my double page spread.

My leading text will be black and the font will be Rockwell to go with my article title. It will be in capital letters to make it more appealing then the body text

CIARA ASHANTI

I named my model G.MAN as from my double page analysis I found that all the artists had a artist name which they are known for. So I wanted something short and catchy and so picked that name. The background of G.MAN is he is a young boy that went into fame at a young age and become renowned at the age of 17. He has become more popular and my magazine wanted to know more about him. The pull quote ‘a lot of artists took the escalator to success, I too the elevator to success’ means he went into fame in a short period of time whereas most artist had to wait for their fame. The caption ‘my biggest competition is myself’ is showing that he has no competitions but himself meaning he has to work even harder. The mode of address used is direct as it is a interview for example ‘the more you try the better and more confident you get’. Moreover the register is colloquial as there is swear words and slang such as ‘their albums ain’t shit either’ and ‘I'm gonna buy my mamma her first house’. I used colloquial language as my magazine is based on a hip hop/ rap theme and it is common for the artists to use this language. So I made G.MAN a stereotypical hip hop artist.
