DoView is not drawing software, it is easy to use modeling software for identifying outcomes, showing the steps needed to achieve them and tracking progress. It is used to make strategic planning, performance monitoring, evaluation, evidence-based practice and outcomes-focused contracting easier.
The type of models DoView uses go by names such as: outcomes models, program logics, logic models, outcomes maps, strategy maps, program theories, theories of change, and ends-means diagrams. What they all have in common is that they all are visual models of high-level outcomes and the lower-level steps needed to achive them.
DoView outcomes modeling software: a tutorial example

Did the promotion of sustainable building increase home buyers understanding of sustainability?
Year 1
January - baseline survey in both regions
February - November promotion activity run in Region 1
December - repeat of survey
Here is information about the evaluation project which is going to be used to answer the evaluation question indentified on the earlier page
You can put any text you want on a page like this and lay it out any way you like
A baseline of home buyers understanding of sustainability will be taken in two regions using a general population telephone survey. Initially the promotion activity around sustainable building to home buyers will only be undertaken in one region. Improvements in home buyers understanding will be compared in the two regions.

Contents Printing and getting models out of DoView
Printing is done by creating a PDF and then printing it.
Copy to external software like Word by copying a single page and then pasting it into Word.
Web page versions of any model can also be created and put up on the internet. There is the option for these web page models to also contain a copy of a PDF of the model and of the original DoView file which created the web page model.
Those viewing the web page version of the model can download the PDF or the DoView file if they want. This can be used for quickly sharing models to promote best practice.
22
Start 22 of 33
Models are printed with File > Print to PDF. You then save the PDF and you can print it, or email it to a colleague if you want to share your model.
Models can be turned into stand alone web page models. File > Create Web Page Model. You then put the files that are generated up on the internet. Find examples of web page models at OutcomesModels.org
To copy individual pages into Word, Powerpoint, Outlook etc., Right-click on the name of the page in the Page List > Copy Image and paste it into Word etc.

Page sizes in DoView
26
26 of 33Start
DoView encourages the use of small 1 x 1 page sizes so your model can always be dataprojected
Page-size is set when you create a page. To create a page use the small down arrow next to the 'New 1 x 1 Page' button at the bottom of the Page List (on the bottom right of the screen)
Your Page List is closed?
Open it by clicking on
'Show Page List' on the
Tool Bar along the top of
the screen
Normal DoView pages are small pages called 1 x 1 pages.
Models built out of a series of 1 x 1 pages can always be dataprojected in a meeting.
Larger poster page versions of your model can be constructed out of a number of 1 x 1 pages (e.g. 2 x 2).
DoView also lets you create normal print-page sizes (e.g. US letter, A4) which are optimized for printing rather than dataprojecting.
