Welcome to BBYO Passport—the leader in travel for Jewish teens and their families. Journey with us to Israel or explore a world of meaningful travel opportunities on five continents. All of our programs embrace pluralistic Jewish values and are designed to provide opportunities for inspiration, connection, and community.

Prior affiliation with BBYO is not necessary.

Why Travel Jewishly?

Exploring new places is inherently enriching; doing so with a diverse group of Jewish peers can be uniquely powerful. Whether you come from a traditional Jewish background or a more secular one, we strive to create a sense of community on the road where everyone feels welcome. Connecting through our shared identity and learning about our colorful history in every corner of the globe will ensure that you not only have a great summer, but a meaningful one, too.

Beyond—Gap Year

Beyond is BBYO’s Israel-based gap year experience for Jewish students following their high school graduation. Participants can choose between a 5-month or 9-month experience. The program weaves together academic study, leadership development, community service, eduational travel, and Jewish life experiences in Israel. The program is designed for aspiring students seeking a unique launching point into adulthood.

Adult & Family Travel

The BBYO Passport experience is open to adults and families, too! Join an 8-15 day multi-generational trip to Israel or Europe. Let us take care of all the planning so that you can focus on the experience. Be a part of a close-knit touring community and cre-ate your next travel memories with us.

Summer Teen Travel

Summer programs for high school and middle school teens represent our flagship experiences. Since 1956, BBYO has provided eye-opening journeys to Israel, and now to 18 different countries! Although every program is different, they all share the same core elements—active touring, cross-cultural interactions, and new friendships with fellow Jewish teens of all backgrounds from all around the world.

March of the Living

The March of the Living is a two-week international experience where teens from around the world come together each year and bear witness to the destruction of the Holocaust in Poland and then travel to Israel to rejoice in the Jewish Homeland. The program commemorates Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Memorial Day) by marching from Auschwitz to Birkenau and celebrates Yom HaAtzmaut (Israeli Independence Day) in the streets of Jerusalem.

Membership Not RequiredPassport programs are open to all Jewish teens—regardless of prior BBYO involvement. In fact, typical trips are evenly comprised of members and non-members.

Specialized Staff TeamsPassport programs are staffed by a highly selective group of licensed guides, community professionals, informal educators and emerging leaders. Many of our staff return each summer and bring a passion for leadership, mentoring, and creating inspirational travel experiences.

Your Ticket to the World This Summer Join us for a summer of new experiences and new friendships. BBYO Passport organizes the most popular summer travel programs for Jewish high school and middle school teens. Our trips are open to anyone with a spirit for adventure and a desire to experience the full color of the world. All Jewish teens can participate—BBYO membership is not required.

Worldwide DestinationsPassport programs travel to Israel and destinations as diverse as Italy, Costa Rica, South Africa, France, Spain, England, Poland, Bulgaria, and the Western USA.

All Jewish TeensPassport programs embrace pluralistic Jewish values and are appropriate for Jewish teens of all backgrounds. Whether you come from a traditional or a more secular background, we strive for everyone to feel welcome.

Chart Your Own CoursePassport makes it easy to experience the world the way you want. Trips depart every Tuesday from mid-June to late July. Travel experiences range from ten days to six weeks. Many of our programs are modular — which means that two individual programs can be linked together for maximum summer globe-trotting travel.

Summer TeenTravel

Parents and Teens AgreeParents know that BBYO Passport experiences will be enriching and meaningful. Teens know that they have signed on for the adventure of a lifetime. It’s truly the best of both worlds.

BBYO Passport is the most popular provider of Jewish teen travel experiences. Here’s why…

Worldwide Experiences

Chart your own course. Explore the cultural treasures of Western Europe, retrace the story of Jewish life in Poland, join a service experience in Bulgaria, explore the natural beauty of Costa Rica and South Africa, or stay closer to home on an adventure in the American West. International teen travel presents a unique opportunity to reach out and touch our world, while gaining a new perspective on life at home.

Israel Experiences

Israel programs are at the heart of BBYO Passport. Since 1956, BBYO has been sharing the magic of a summer in Israel with Jewish teens. Teens who travel to Israel during their high school years develop a profound understanding of Jewish history; can better appreciate the miracle of modern Israel, and benefit from a stronger sense of their own Jewish identity—without any specific denominational or ideological approach.

Israel Extension

Most Israel trips can be combined with a weeklong elective week experience. The first half of the week is an elective where teens can choose from a “Sea-to-Sea Hike” from the Mediterranean Sea to the Sea of Galilee or a “Culture & Innovation Tour” based in the Tel Aviv area. The second half of the week is a community service experience. The 7-day Israel extension is a great complement to the traditional touring and is designed to shed light on unique aspects of Israeli society.

Do Something Unique and Extraordinary This Summer

Join a BBYO Connect experience and travel with a group of current 7th and 8th graders in the American West. Each trip combines elements of outdoor adventure, active touring, service projects, and Jewish experiences on the road. Choose from a 2-week journey in either the Pacific Northwest or in the Southwest/California. Looking for more? Link the two programs together for a 4-week road trip to remember from Seattle to Phoenix. See a brand new side of America that you have only dreamed about, and challenge yourself along the way.

Beyond is a program of BBYO, the world’s leading pluralistic Jewish youth movement. The program brings together the experience and expertise of BBYO and its local partner, Authentic Israel. Key supporting partners include Hillel: Foundation for Jewish Campus Life, Tel Aviv University, and Masa Israel Journey.

Why a Gap Year?

Gap year programs take place following high school graduation and before embarking on an undergraduate degree track. A gap year program enables participants to step outside of the typical high school-to-college-to-career progression and reflect on who they are now and what they want to be as a budding adult. In the process, gap year participants gain confidence, focus, and life skills. Ultimately, participants on gap year programs are better positioned to succeed on campus and beyond.

College Credit

Although Beyond is not a traditional study-abroad experience, the first session of the program offers a taste of academic and campus life. Tel Aviv University (TAU) is Israel’s largest academic institution, attracting leading students from across Israel and from around the world. Beyond participants are enrolled as official students and have full access to TAU’s vibrant campus life—taking at least two college-level courses for credit. It is a wonderful way to prepare for the rigors of college life and instill a love for learning.

NOTE: Participants may opt to take part in an abbreviated two session experience by special advance request. Participation in the second session alone is discouraged.

How to Participate

Applying through the online application is easy—no application fee is required, and all program payments are 100% refundable through March 15, 2013. The application and detailed payment and registration terms are available online at www.beyondyear.org/admissions.

What’s includedBeyond is a generally all-inclusive experience. Tuition covers accommodations, food, transportation, programming, and academic credit. Although some travel opportunities are offered as an “optional add-on”, the core Beyond program is a comprehensive and rich experience.

August 22, 2013 – January 22, 2014

Experience the best of city and campus life in a vibrant Mediterranean metropolis. Tel Aviv is one of the world’s most innovative cities, and it’s yours to call home in Israel. The first session of Beyond is centered within Tel Aviv and takes advantage of its many assets—Hebrew language immersion, a taste of campus life at Tel Aviv University, service learning projects, new media electives, educational travel, and ample opportunities for self-discovery. $15,250

August 22, 2013 – May 21, 2014

The second session on Beyond is about choosing your own path. The session begins with a series of elective program options, and culminates with a community-based service experience where participants are able to focus on a project in Jerusalem or Ethiopia that most speaks to them. Together, these experiences are designed to open a window onto a unique aspect of society and give participants a chance to leave their own personal mark. $20,950

In other words, this tour is designed for Jewish travelers of all backgrounds. Each group forms a traveling community, often fostering new friendships that last long after the trip is over.

*Discounts for children are available

The BBYO Passport experience is open to adults and families, too! Join an 8-15 day multi-generational trip to Israel or Europe. Let us take care of all the planning so that you can focus on the experience. Be a part of a close-knit touring community and create your next travel memories with us.

Prior affiliation with BBYO is not necessary.
