When users wanted to find specific information, they first had to locate the right search screen. Entering a search in the wrong screen - such as using the search term “spackle” in the contact search - produced no results for the user as the associated databases were not connected. Furthermore, the search functions did not accept input errors or offer search suggestions. As a result, searches were often unsuccessful, leading to unsatisfied users. To provide a local search,

Exorbyte enhanced this

search function with new

geodata based on German

postcodes. This allows

users to filter results even

by individual

neighborhoods. The

contact search currently

includes around 6,000 suppliers and is updated monthly.

The portal’s download area, which currently contains

around 600 different PDF files, is an additional benefit for

users. The documents include information brochures,

technical documentation and product datasheets. Exorbyte

Universal Search’s full-text search function allows users to

search for keywords within the content of these PDF files.

Finally, Exorbyte Universal Search was also integrated

with Google Analytics, allowing Rigips to study users’

search habits by using their regular analysis tool.

The new error-tolerant auto-suggest is particularly

appreciated by users. It provides the most relevant results

even while inputting text in the search field. All search

suggestions are immediately updated with every

individual letter entered. The number of results in each

section is also displayed.

A successful result

Visitors to the Rigips portal now have access to a unified

search feature enhanced with useful additional

information, which makes searching significantly easier

and faster. Users can find what they need and are happy

to use the site again. Anatol Bunke, Internet Project

Manager at Saint-Gobain Rigips GmbH, explains, “We

already presented our new website to our customers at

this year’s Baumesse fair. The positive feedback from

trade visitors was fantastic. Before, even the slightest

typing error would prevent the search from returning any

results, which, of course, was more than a little frustrating

for our users. But the optimized search tool has made the

portal user-friendly, and users are now able to find the

information they need quickly and easily.”
