ACIDIC pHColour Trip has been designed to be mildly acidic, with a pH range of 3.5-4.5, a pH close to that of natural hair (4.5-5.5). The pH of Colour Trip helps close the cuticle and prevents fibres from swelling, so they are smooth, aligned and protected.

Colour Trip has been formulated with ingredients known to strengthen and condition hair.

INGREDIENTS

HYDROLYZED KERATINKeratin is the main component of hair which gives hair its remarkable strength properties. When hair is damaged, keratin can be lost during usual hair care routine, resulting in the weakening of the hair structure and consequent breaking and split ends. Due to its small size, Hydrolyzed Keratin can penetrate into the hair fibre, replenishing protein within.

COCONUT OILExtracted from the flesh of coconuts, Coconut oil has been used for over 3000 years. When applied to hair, Coconut oil conditions the hair surface by replenishing the lipid layer. Components of the oil can also penetrate into the fibre, nourishing from within.

PRE-LIGHTENING

To achieve the most vibrant, true to tone results with Colour Trip, TIGI recommends to pre-lighten the hair using True Light/True Light White to a pale yellow or very pale yellow undertone. Pre-lightening the hair to the correct undertone will help ensure the desired result is achieved. A great pre-lightening service will create a clean, even canvas for your colour work.

IMPORTANCE OF CORRECT UNDERTONESFor optimum results TIGI recommends to pre-lighten the hair to a very pale yellow or pale yellow undertone. To create your target shade, achieving the correct undertone is imperative. The swatches on the right show the result when the hair has only been pre-lightened to a yellow/orange or orange undertone prior to Colour Trip application.

Applying Blue over a yellow/orange undertone will create a blue with a slightly greenish result. When Violet is applied to a yellow/orange undertone, the result will be deeper and slightly neutralised. If Pink is applied over an orange undertone, the result will be less vibrant and more reddish/pink in tone.

REMOVING LEVEL & TONE ON HAIR PREVIOUSLY COLOURED WITH A DEMI OR PERMANENT COLOUR. When working on previously coloured hair, TIGI recommends starting with a True Light cleaning service, followed by a True Light cleanse. If condition allows, this may be followed by a True Light service.

TRUE LIGHT CLEANINGTo remove tone and build up of colour.– Mix 1 scoop (27g) of true light or true light white

with up to 60ml of warm water and TIGI shampoo to aid with consistency and application.

– Apply to pre-shampooed, towel-dried hair. – Divide the hair into four sections and begin to

work the cleaning mix into the hair. – Do not rub the hair or scalp; work the product into

the hair in the same direction as the cuticle scales to avoid sensitivity.

– Continue with the cleaning technique until desired result is achieved. Process visually for a maximum of 20 minutes.

– If no action/cleaning has been achieved, move onto the next stage: cleansing.

– Once completed, shampoo and condition the hair using TIGI-recommended products and colour or style the hair as required.

TRUE LIGHT CLEANSING To remove level and tone.– Mix 1 scoop (27g) of true light or true light white

with up to 60ml of water + 30ml (30g) activator 20vol/6%, and TIGI shampoo to aid with consistency and application.

– Apply to dry hair. Divide the hair into four sections, begin application at the back.

– Apply to darker areas of the hair first. – Do not rub the hair or scalp; work the product into

the hair in the same direction as the cuticle scales to avoid sensitivity.

– Continue with the cleansing technique until desired undertone or level is achieved. Process visually for a maximum of 20 minutes.

– Repeat if required and condition allows. If, after 25 minutes, no action or lift has been achieved, reapply or move on to lightening.

– Once completed, shampoo and condition the hair using TIGI-recommended products and colour or style the hair as required.

PRE-LIGHTENING (CONTINUED)

POST-PIGMENTATION & REFRESHINGColour Trip is ideal to add vibrancy, increase saturation and add tonal value to previously pre-pigmented and coloured hair, which appears dull or flat.

Colour Trip’s gentle acidic formula makes it ideal for refreshing techniques. Colour Trip can be used on all hair types to refresh faded colour on the mid-lengths and ends when working with TIGI copyright©olour on the new growth.

Select or cocktail your target Colour Trip shade; on damp hair, apply to the lengths and ends, and process up to 30 minutes for maximum intensity.

Top Tip: use Pale Violet to refresh the mid-lengths and ends of a TIGI copyright©olour lift application.

For durable results when performing colour correction services on highly sensitised hair, TIGI recommends using Colour Trip to-pre-pigment, followed by a TIGI copyright©olour gloss application.

– Select Colour Trip formula based on the target level– Wear suitable disposable gloves– Shampoo the hair, do not condition, towel-dry– Apply chosen formulation to the colour correction/change area– Process for 20 minutes– Rinse the hair well with lukewarm water– Condition with Bed Head Colour Goddess and blast dry the hair– Apply the target TIGI copyright©olour gloss shade(s) on dry hair with activator 5vol/1.5% or 8.5vol/2.55% – Apply target shade to the roots, mid-lengths and ends– Process for up to 20 minutes– Remove, shampoo and condition

Semi-permanents direct dyes are known to be difficult to remove, as they are engineered to provide vibrant, durable results. To help Colour Trip fade faster, TIGI recommends washing the hair more frequently with a non-conditioning shampoo.

If condition allows, a True Light cleaning service may be performed to aid in removal of tone.

If condition allows, this may be followed by a True Light service.

REMOVING COLOUR TRIP

Note: Colour Trip has a gentle formula with an acidic pH, use this method on highly porous hair. Alternatively explore TIGI copyright©olour gloss and mix master methods.

Colour Trip consists of 12 fully intermixable shades, ideal for cocktailing. When cocktailing with Colour Trip, keep in mind that some shades are more dominant than others, and will overpower the final result. The intensity of the shades will also impact tonal dominance, e.g. when mixing pink with some shades, the intensity of the pink will remain dominant.

Top Tip: If uncertain about the final colour result of a cocktailed shade or even a shade on its own, perform a preliminary strand test. Apply Colour Trip to a to a small, discreet section of hair and process according to directions.

hadQ&As

PRODUCT USAGE ALLERGY ALERT TESTING

Q. Can I retail Colour Trip to my salon clients?A. Colour Trip is for professional use only and therefore must not be re-sold to your clients.

Q. How easy is it to remove it from the hair?A. Colour Trip has been designed to be a long-lasting

semi-permanent colour, the durability will depend on the shade applied, the condition of the hair and the aftercare routine used by the client.

Q. Do I always need to pre-lighten to see the vibrant colours?A. For the optimum vibrancy and longevity, TIGI recommends

use on pre-lightened hair. However Colour Trip can be used on all hair levels, both chemically treated and virgin hair, but this will affect the visibility and longevity of the results.

Q. Colour Trip is recommended to be used on pre-shampooed hair, what will happen if used on dry?A. TIGI recommends to use Colour Trip on pre-shampooed

hair, this allows for even application and saturation of colour to provide a more uniform result. Pre-shampooing the hair also helps remove any build-up of natural oils or styling product, which could prevent even deposit of tone.

Q. How do you remove Colour Trip once processing time has been reached? A. Rinse the hair thoroughly with lukewarm water. Follow with

Bed Head Colour Goddess Conditioner (Do not shampoo), rinse and style as desired.

Q. How many shampoo does Colour Trip last?A. Colour Trip has been designed to be long lasting and the

longevity will depend on the shade applied, the condition of the hair and the aftercare routine used by the client.

Q. What is the recommended aftercare?A. TIGI recommends Bed Head Colour Goddess Shampoo

and Conditioner with oil defence for electrifying colour.

Q. Can I mix Colour Trip into conditioner?A. TIGI does not recommend mixing Colour Trip into a

conditioner. To dilute the intensity of a Colour Trip shade, TIGI recommends the use of Colour Trip clear, which has the same base formula as the rest of the Colour Trip Range.

Q. Can Colour Trip be intermixed with TIGI copyright©olour or any other hair colour product? A. No, Colour Trip cannot be intermixed with any colourants

outside of the Colour Trip range, due to incompatible chassis, pH and dye-sets.

Q. If I want Colour Trip to last longer, can I mix it with an activator? A. Colour Trip is a non-oxidative semi-permanent colour

range, therefore it should not be mixed with an activator, developer or peroxide.

Q. How do I carry out an allergy alert test when using Colour Trip in conjunction with TIGI copyright©olour?A. Always ensure an allergy alert test or another

evaluation is performed 48 hours prior to any hair colour application using the exact shade(s) that will be used. Place each shade(s) behind the ear in separate locations, taking note which location is which on your client’s allergy alert test record.

Q. Can Colour Trip be applied after another hair colour service?A. Yes, Colour Trip can be applied after another hair

colour service. However an allergy alert test or another evaluation must be performed 48 hours prior to any hair colour application using the exact shade(s) that will be used.

Q. If my client has shown a reaction to hair colour can I apply a Colour Trip shade?A. If your client has experienced an allergic reaction to

any hair colour, they must not have their hair coloured again without receiving medical/dermatological advice. After receiving medical/dermatological advice, ensure an allergy alert test or another evaluation is performed 48 hours prior to any hair colour application.

HAIR COLOURANTS CAN CAUSE SEVERE ALLERGIC REACTIONS.An allergy alert test must be performed 48 hours prior to any hair colour application, even if the client has previously used a hair colour product from this brand or another.
