QSC Governance Structure
• VRIC Quran School Committee (QSC) is responsible for monitoring and ensuring the success of the Quran School programs
• QSC is an advisory committee of the BoD of VRIC and can have a maximum of seven (7) members
Ø Roles & Responsibilities v Program monitor and Assessment v Recommendation for hiring teachers/admin for the program to
the BoD v Responsible to develop/maintain process and policies for the
program v Responsible to manage/assess the performance of QSC staff

` BASIC INTERMEDIATE ADVANCED MEMORIZATION RETENTION
QUALITY & OVERSIGHT
STUDENT-TEACHER RATIO – 10:1 • Ages 5 & up.
• No Testing
• Complete Noorani Qaidah and start reading from Quran
• Complete reading of one Juz (min)
• Ages 6 & up • Need to pass
placement test • Read from
randomly selected sections from Quran
• Emphasis on clear and correct pronunciation of every letter
• Students who do not pass, can be placed in Basic until they are able to master it.
• Ages 7 & up • Need to pass placement
test • Read from randomly
selected sections from Quran
• Knowledge & implementation of Tajweed rules
• Emphasis on memorization techniques (memorize 1 juz min)
• Students who do not pass, can be placed in Basic or Intermediate until they are able to master them.
• Ages 8 & up • Need to pass
the Hifz Qualification test

VRIC Qur’an Program Structure – Basic
Goals • Students will learn
• The Alphabet, Combined Letters, Letters Pronounced Separately • Short Vowels (Fatha, Dhamma, Kasrah), Doubled Vowels, Miniature
Long Vowels, Long Vowels and Soft Letters, Vowel-less Letters (Sukoon), Doubled Letters (Shaddah)
• Exercises combining letters/words and of the previous lessons • Pronunciation and Articulation of each letter (Makharij)
• Complete Noorani Qaidah and start reading from Mushaf • Complete reading of 1 Juz (minimum) • Tarbiyah (Tasheel series – Fiqh, Aqaa-id, Taa-Reekh, Akhlaaq wal

VRIC Qur’an Program Structure - Intermediate
Goals • Continue to go over the rules of pronunciation and articulation • Will go over the Tafkheem and Tarqeeq of Letters (lightness and heaviness) • Students will learn and implement rules of Tajweed
• Huroof Al- Madiyyah (long letter) • Madd-al- Leen, Noon and Meem Mushaddad • Al- Madd (different mudood ), Qalqalah • Noon sakinah and Tanween (Idgham, Ikhfa, Idhar), Al-Iqlab • Meem Sakinah (Idgham, Ikhfa, Idhar) • Hamzah Al- Wasl, Al- Waqf (the stop)
• Read from Mushaf fluently • Complete recitation of 8 Juz (minimum). Students can continue to

Expectations from Teachers • Continuous evaluation of students to ensure they are progressing and
additional assistance where needed • Monthly progress report for each students, signed by parents • Monthly update to QSC via bi-weekly meetings
Expectations from students/parents • Commitment from parents to ensure regular attendance and continuity • Follow directions from teacher • Always be at their best behavior • Recite loudly in a clear voice
