INT. SCHOOL HALL - EARLY MORNING1 1

Spacious hall with nothing inside apart from a young femalenamed ALEX, sitting on a plastic chair that CREAKS at anyslight movement. Alex FIDGETS and SHUFFLES on the chair

whilst straightening out her long, cotton dress, as she

prepares for an interview. She pinches the upper side of herdress, adjusting a tiny black MICROPHONE so it points upwardstowards her face before MUTTERING into the microphone.

ALEX TALKING HEADIs this on, is it working OK?(beat)

Can you hear me alright?

A SWEEPING sound appears coming from a stiff-looking, mature man who BRUSHES to and fro with a broom in a repetitive motion. He is the schools JANITOR - he stops, briefly glances

upwards before effortlessly returning back to SWEEPING. A more comfortable Alex is now sitting up against the FLIMSYchair, revealing a faint smile.

ALEX TALKING HEAD (CONT’D)Err hi, I’m Alex, Alex Mousk, anderm, I’m the assistant director for“AA”...

Alex’s face then DROPS and her smile disappears, followed byher voice seeming UPSET.

ALEX TALKING HEAD (CONT’D)Alcoholics Anonymous.

She then GIGGLES to herself whilst GLANCING around the roomfor reassurance.

ALEX TALKING HEAD (CONT’D)I’m only kidding! I’m only kidding,it’s not really. It’s “ActorsAnonymous”, an AmDram productioncompany. Get it? ‘AA’? “AlcoholicsAnonymous” instead of “ActorsAnonymous”?

It seems that nobody laughs with her, judging from her smiledropping and SNIGGERING coming to a halt.

ALEX TALKING HEAD (CONT’D)That’s not funny is it? (beat)Anyway, “AA” is...

Interrupted by an ABRUPT yet forced cough, Alex glares moderately at a content-looking man sitting uptight on asimilar chair. His name is GILES - his back is dead straight

and twiddles with his grey, trimmed beard.



GILES briefly perks up and hastily moves his hand flat toplace on his chest, revealing a flashing smile beforecoughing a couple of times in an attempt to clear his throat.

GILES TALKING HEADOh me?

(beat)Is it on me now?

(beat)Is an introduction necessary?Maybe. I’m the Giles Phillipé.

GILES frequently FANS both of his hands, glancing to theceiling as he moves into character. He swiftly NUDGES Alex’schest with his elbow, causing Alex to glare villainously.

GILES TALKING HEAD (CONT’D)Me, well I’ve been in the bizz now

for, many years [nudge]. I’veproduced phenomenal theatrical workto short, intimate plays. You nameit, I’ve directed it.

He exhales to release his excitement, before placing hishands flat together and gazing into space.

GILES TALKING HEAD (CONT’D)I’ve even met THE Andrew LloydWebber...

Giles then BLURTS out his words in a less enthusiastic manor.

GILES TALKING HEAD (CONT’D)...It was the back of his head ashe got into a taxi, but, I justknow if he had time we’d be thebest of friends right now!

Alex, in a spark of revenge, places her hands FIRMLY onGiles’ shoulders, CALMLY pushing him back down into his seat.

ALEX TALKING HEADAnyway... how about we show you

around? We’ve got our auditionsstarting soon, so people shouldalready be turning up!

She pushes her seat back, causing a grainy GRINDING soundthat ECHOES throughout the hall. Giles ignores Alex andcontinues to flash his smile.

INT. SCHOOL STAGE - EARLY MORNING2 2

Around 15 PEOPLE gather on a crowded, wooden stage. Footstepsare SQUEAKING on the stage and Giles and Alex STRUT towardsthe group of people. The crowd sit on jet-black chairs orstand along one end of the stage, creating an ECHO of

conversation. Alex MUMBLES down to herself as she glimpsesdown at a small stack of white stapled sheets. Giles smoothlyraises his hand and forcefully COUGHS.

GILESGather round everyone, gatherround. Welcome back for anothershow - ‘Peter Pan: The Musical!’Thank you all for being here today,Alex, my assistant director, willbe handing out the audition sheets.

Alex QUIETLY hands out AUDITION SHEETS to each auditionee.

GILES (O.S) (CONT’D)The first sheet is the song youneed to perform...

She first hands the sheet to a FLOUNDERING couple namedCHANTELLE and JORDAN. Chantelle literally holds onto Jordan

with great passion and BLANKS Alex, as she SNATCHES theaudition sheet. Jordan’s face seems aggravated andunimpressed as Chantelle STROKES and plays with his hair.

GILES (O/S) (CONT’D)a remix of the hit song ‘Fly Me tothe Moon’ by Frank Sinatra, remadeto tell the tale of Peter Pan.

GILES (CONT’D)The second sheet is a monologuedirect from my hit musical...

Alex then hands two sheets to another close and young couplenamed JAMIE and RUBY. Jamie, who is wearing a plain white t-shirt with a rounded LOGO saying ‘Spill da Beanz’, is SLUMPEDinto the chair and delicately FLICKS Ruby’s long brunette

hair. He gently WHISPERS something in her ear, causing Rubyto laugh and touch Jamie’s leg for a few seconds. She takesthe audition sheets, causing her laughter to stop as shesmiles PLEASANTLY.

GILES (O.S) (CONT’D)...After both of these auditions,please wait outside to be called,thank-you. You have 20 minutesbefore we see the first auditonee!

A rather TIMID young female named MADDIE sits a couple of

yards away from everyone else. The thick black frame fromglasses cover a part of her face, as she looks down to FIDDLEher thumbs.

She gently GRABS an audition sheet and responds by MIMING“thank you” whilst FAINTLY smiling, before NIBBLING herbottom lip as she concentrates on the sheet.

GILES (CONT’D)Oh, and you may have noticed we

have some company today! So time to work extra hard!

Giles SECRETLY attempts to point to the DOCUMENTARY CREW.

GILES (CONT’D)We will be announcing the roles atthe end of the day. Any questions? (beat)No? (beat)Good luck.

Chantelle URGENTLY raises her hand, repeatedly shaking thetops of her fingers to gain any form of attention. TheGRINDING sound of her chewing gum begins to becomeIRRITATING, judging from Ruby’s glare at Chantelle.

CHANTELLEYeah, actually I’ve got a question,

what if we don’t want to audition with that stupid song? What if webought our own song?

Jordan ROLLS his eyes in disappointment whilst Giles responds with what looks like a fake and forced smile.

GILESOf course CHANTELLE, whatever suitsyou best.

Chantelle SHRUGS Jordan as she DRAMATICALLY jumps off herchair and STROLLS to the end of the stage. RUTHLESSLY, shejumps off, leading herself and the bothersome sound of herchewing gum to leave the hall. Giles SHARPLY rolls his eyesand claps his hands together.

GILES (CONT’D)Chop chop ladies and gents! Time is

making fools of us again!

INT. SCHOOL STAGE - LATE MORNING3 3

Unquestionably, Chantelle’s auditions is first. She STRUTSalong the CREAKING stage, clutching her hand onto aMICROPHONE as she BELTS her voice out.

CHANTELLEI saw you and you saw me, can’tdeny that chemistry.

Some say it’s fate, ‘cos I’vealready set the wedding date.

She continues to STRUT along the stage before FLICKING herhair as she turns around.

CHANTELLE (CONT’D)You blew all your load on me,treated me like royalty. Fly onover here baby - Netflix and chill.

Her singing comes to a stop as she stands still and pointstowards Giles and Alex.

CHANTELLE (CONT’D)Peter, when I stitched on yourshadow, I knew for sure.Tinkerbell? Tinker who? Tinker who,

Tinker what, Tinker where?

She seductively licks her lips and WINKS to both Giles andAlex.

CHANTELLE (CONT’D)Me, and you. Mmmm, Peter.

INT. SCHOOL CHANGING ROOM HALLWAY - LATE MORNING4 4

Chantelle has now changed outfit - she’s wearing a blackfedora hat, long-sleeve grey jumper and a short skirt withblack tights. Gazing at herself in a black portable mirror,she PUFFS her hair, sharply inhales, and closes her eyes.

CHANTELLE TALKING HEADRight OK I’m Ready.

Her pearl white teeth FLASH as she smiles whilst FLUTTERINGside to side, FRANTICLY SWAYING and FIDDLING with her hair asshe RANTS about herself. Her mood drastically switches fromhappiness to anger as she talks about Jordan - she GRINDS herteeth and her face SCRUNCHES momentarily before reverting

back to a smile.

CHANTELLE TALKING HEAD (CONT’D)This is my 17th play with thecompany. It should actually be 18,but that was the summer of 2011,

when Jordan ran off with that SKETfrom crew. But that was in thepast, he came running back as per,and why shouldn’t he? Look at me.

She PEERS around her chair as she SPIES on Jordan.

Her FLASHING smile soon disappears as she watches Jordan gazeat Maddie’s audition - he rests his hand on his chin whilstrevealing a charmed smile.

ORIGINAL ANGLE

Turning back around, Chantelle now forcefully smiles whilstSTRAINING her eyes and CLENCHING her jaw. Jordan catchesChantelle’s GRIEVING stare and HASTILY stands up, pushing thechair back to cause a SCREECH on the floor.

INT. SCHOOL LIGHTING BOX - LATE MORNING5 5

Moving to an enclosed box room, Jordan’s unimpressed lookreturns as he prepares for an interview. He folds his armsand leans upwards against the chair, before exhaling to

relief a long-winded sigh.

JORDAN TALKING HEAD*sighs*

INT. SCHOOL STAGE - MORNING6 6

With Jordan STROPPING off stage, Maddie stands alone in thecentre of the stage. SILENCE is apparent apart from theRUSTLING of her audition sheet as her nerves lead her toTREMOR and SHAKE. Her legs are crossed and she attempts toSWALLOW to clear her throat.

INT. SCHOOL HALL - BEFORE7 7

Maddie now sits AWKWARDLY on a RICKETY chair, constantlyFIDGETING and SHUFFLING. Her hands are held together and hervoice is as SHAKY as her feet which nervously TAP on thefloor, causing the chair to SQUEAK simultaneously.

MADDIE TALKING HEAD

What part am I auditioning for? (beat)Erm, Wendy. But, (beat)this is the first time that I’veauditioned for anything. Erm, ever.

(beat)I’ve been wanting to join for acouple of years now and I knew thisis my last chance. I can’t believe“AA” could be shutting down forgood this year, I mean, I saw them

last year and it was amazing.

(beat)But, you know, I’ve never doneanything like this before, well, atleast in front of people, butsinging in the shower doesn’tcount... or does it?


Giles and Alex gradually LEAN out of their seats in asurprising manor as they watch Maddie’s audition. Maddiesings SOFTLY as she DROPS her audition sheet to grip onto the

microphone with both hands.

MADDIEFly me to the moon, and let me play

among the stars.

Meantime, Ruby STROLLS off the stage and walks across thehall, admiring Maddie’s audition.

MADDIE O/SSecond star to the right past,Jupiter and Mars.

She CREEPS up behind an unaware Giles and Alex and gentlyCLUTCHES both of their shoulders. At the same time, sheleans inches away from the backs of their heads and MUTTERSinto their ears.

RUBYSo WHOSE AUDITIONING NOW?

Almost immediately, Alex JOLTS around before SIGHING heavily,in an attempt to catch her breath. Giles too seems startled,however glances up to Ruby for a few moments before peeringback.

ALEXJesus Ruby! Bloody hell, it’s thenew girl - Maddie?

Ruby LAUGHS QUIETLY and crouches down next to Alex and Giles.She soon remains SPEECHLESS as they all concentrate deeply onMaddie’s performance.

MADDIE O/S(still singing)Neverland, I’m coming for you.

Ruby smiles ECSTATICALLY and DRAGS a chair to join Giles andAlex. The chair SCREECHES amongst the wooden floor, causing aBLARING GRINDING sound which echoes throughout the hallway.

Judging from Giles and Alex both SCRUNCHING their faces andglaring at Ruby, Ruby then LIFTS the chair and noiselesslyplaces the chair next to Alex.

MADDIE O/S (CONT’D)Neverland, please be true.

Returning back to the audition, Alex smiles faintly, whilstGiles seems shocked yet TWIDDLES his moustache in admiration.

INT. SCHOOL LIGHTING BOX - BEFORE9 9

A CLUSTERED small room shows Ruby leaning forward, placingher hands on each side of the cushioned chair. She begins toSPEAK in a soft, SQUEAKY yet ENERGETIC manor.

RUBY TALKING HEADWell I’d be totally devastated ifthis was our last ever performance.

I’ve moved from Wales to be here,to study a drama diploma and, wellthis company means so much to me. I

mean, I wouldn’t have the friendsI’d have now, or the confidence.But I have a feeling that this...

Jamie SLOWLY CREEPS up on the glass window in which Ruby isunaware of. Suddenly, Jamie THROWS his hands onto the glass,causing a SHARP BANG that makes Ruby JUMP out of her seat.They LAUGH and gaze at each other whilst Ruby FIDGETS backinto her seat.

RUBYJamie!

He laughs before suspiciously glancing between theDocumentary Crew and Ruby, now seeming shocked himself. Rubytoo seems anxious and attempts to speak yet seems lost for

words.

JAMIEHey!

RUBY

Hiya! Err...

Ruby glances across to the Documentary Crew, leading Jamie topoint to the Crew as he becomes aware of them.

JAMIESorry, (beat)Am I err, interrupting?

Nerves begin to overpower both Jamie and Ruby as they beginto accidently interrupt each other.

RUBYNo, no, it’s fine. (beat)Well sort of, I’m being interviewedbut it doesn’t matter, err..

JAMIEOh sorry! Sorry, shall I go?

Jamie, continues to uncomfortably glance at the Crew, causinghis voice to TREMOR.

RUBYNo don’t, err, it’s fine.

JAMIEAre you sure? I, I don’t mind.

RUBYErr, what’s up?

JAMIEI just wanted to ask if you err, (beat)

wanted to grab some lunch?

Now looking at Jamie only, Ruby’s smile WIDENS as she nowseems THRILLED.

RUBYLunch? Yeah, that err, sounds neat.

JAMIECool OK, shall I err, shall I meetyou in the hall?

RUBYYeah, OK. Meet you in the hall.

Jamie smiles PLEASANTLY and gently SHUTS the door. Ruby thenbalances her head on her hands and gazes into space.Suddenly, she SCRUNCHES her face and seems embarrassed,before WHISPERING to herself and seeming concerned.

RUBY (CONT’D)Neat?! Eurh!

She then GIGGLES to herself before literally wiping theEMBARRASSMENT off her face.

RUBY (CONT’D)

Oh, that’s Jamie, he’s auditioningfor Smee which definitely suitshim. He likes to think he’s the

joker of the group!

Giggling again, Ruby looks to the floor in embarrassment andSMIRKS to herself.


MADDIE(still singing)Neverland, please be true.

Alex is SLANTING forward, watching Maddie’s auditioncarefully before promptly standing up. She CLAPSAFFECTIONATELY and GLEAMS at Maddie as her audition comes toan end.

INT. SCHOOL HALL - AFTER11 11

Jordan falls into the plastic chair, causing it to CREAKtediously as he leans back. He crosses both of his arms andlegs and glances upwards in concentration as he talks.

JORDAN TALKING HEADWell, as you may’ve already workedout from Chantelle, I’m Jordan,Jordan Smith. Don’t say anything toChantelle, but Maddie’s audition

was so surprising! In a good waythat is, but I don’t thinkChantelle will be too pleased.

Jordan suddenly uncrosses his arms and PEERS around him - asif he’s checking to see if anyone’s watching him. His voicelowers and comes to a WHISPER.

JORDAN TALKING HEAD (CONT’D)I’m guessing Maddie’s auditioningfor Wendy, right? (beat)She is?

Again he glances around the room, however this time raisinghis voice slightly. He now sits and balances his elbows onhis knees.

JORDAN TALKING HEAD (CONT’D)Then yeah, I don’t think she’sgoing to be best pleased. Let’sjust hope that Giles and Alex casther as the lead role, otherwisethings might get a little bit

messy.

INT. SCHOOL CAR PARK - EARLY AFTERNOON12 12

A DESERTED, open car park is soon disrupted by the loudeningsound of a ROARING engine. A black, lustrous polished carappears before stopping at a forced pace, causing the tiresto slide on the gravelled car park. Chantelle looks at the

DRIVER - a middle-aged man wearing a grey suit with a plain white buttoned shirt. Her voice ECHOES lightly out of the car window across the car park.

CHANTELLERight daddy I’m about to find outif I’m Wendy or not. Wish me luck!

She waits PATIENTLY for a reply but CHANTELLE’S DAD ignoresher as he TALKS on the phone.

CHANTELLE (CONT’D)

Daddy?

CHANTELLE’S DADSorry one second.

He places the phone to his chest and glances to Chantelle.

CHANTELLE’E DADDarling, Tokyo’s on the phone. I’vegot to go.

She looks at her father before turning her head down withoutsaying anything as she HOPS out of the car. She effortlesslySCRAPS her feet amongst the GRAVELED floor and walks SLOWLYbefore stopping and turning as her father SPEEDS out of thecar park. She turns back around and continues to glance atthe floor in despair.

INT. RIGHT-SIDE OF SCHOOL HALL - EARLY AFTERNOON13 13

The auditionees are gathered on a small number of wide steps,talking to create an ECHO of conversation. They are joined byRuby picking at a bag of sweets that Jordan is holding.

Maddie sits at the far side on a step alone, CASUALLYscrolling on her phone. Chantelle’s arm was WRAPPED aroundJordan before suddenly FLINGING off once she spots a man

wearing a grey suit named JOHN. John’s hands frantically moveas he DISPUTES with the Janitor, before being interrupted byChantelle who SHRIEKS and GALLOPS towards the two.

CHANTELLEJohn! I want a word. May I?

Chantelle raises her eyebrows to the Janitor, hinting him toleave. Speechless, the Janitor responds with an evil-looking

glare as he GRINDS his jaw before walking away. She thenforcefully GRABS John’s shoulder.

CHANTELLE (CONT’D)This way.

She leads him up the hallway, leaving everyone exceptthemselves.

INT. SCHOOL CHANGING ROOM - EARLY AFTERNOON14 14

John BRISKLY slips out his slim black smart phone from hissuit trousers and begins to SCROLL on the screen, whilstMUTTERING to Chantelle in a MONOTONOUS and BLAND tone.

JOHNWhat’s up Chantelle, can I help?

Chantelle inverts her eyebrows as she INQUIRES John.

CHANTELLEI was just wondering, we’ve gotenough budget for this show to workthis time, right? If you don’t mind

me asking.

John still pays more attention to his phone however SNIGGERSto himself and lightly shakes his head.

JOHNYou know I can’t tell you thatChantelle.

Sliding his phone back into his trouser pocket, John thenstretches his chest and breaths in heavily.

JOHN (CONT’D)We’ve got just about enough for theshow, but if this show doesn’t end

well, then there’s not much more Ican do for “AA”. Don’t worry, wecan only try our best, can’t we?

He then pulls out his phone again like before.

CHANTELLESo like, what if I knew a certainsomeone who could, let’s say,support us?

John continues to focus on his phone, replying effortlessly.The Janitor can be seen secretly PEEKING around the exit ofthe changing room - SPYING on their conversation.

JOHNWhat do you mean?

Chantelle suspiciously PEEKS around the room - checking bothhallways making sure no one is present.

CHANTELLE (Whispering)My daddy is willing to ‘support’us. He’s been in theatre all of hislife and knows what it’s like whena theatre group is on it’s last

leg. He knows how much it means to me.

John SHOVES his phone into his trouser pocket and REVIEWS theroom. He attentively places his hand on his chin.

JOHNDon’t be stupid Chantelle that’sridiculous, I can’t take money fromyour father, AGAIN!

Chantelle immediately TUTS and rolls her eyes. Taking a step

forward, she breaks John’s personal space and responds with aRAGING but LIMITED TONE. She stands on the top of her TOES tobe eye-level with John.

CHANTELLEWell, last time was fine, so whyare you having a hissy fit?. He’sdoing you and all of us a favour,you wouldn’t want to let everyonedown, (beat)

would you?

John then takes a step back, glances down and places hishands on his hips. He exhales heavily in concentration.

JOHNOK. (beat)I’ll think about it. I’ll talk toyour father in more detail. This isvery kind of him and your family,you’re doing “AA” a massive favour.

CHANTELLE

It’s fine. Daddy’s always trying tohelp. However, there was one thinghe needed in return.

Chantelle again takes a step forward and raises herself eye-level to John, revealing a SMUG yet DEVIOUS look.

CHANTELLE (CONT’D)If he’s going to be giving away hishard earned money, I’m sure it

would be totally amazing for him tosee his daughter perform as the

lead role? Don’t you think?

John then takes a step back and raises his voice in anger.

JOHNChantelle you know I can’t do that,it wouldn’t be fair on everyoneelse!

She then interrupts and raises her finger to his mouth.

CHANTELLEListen John I’m doing you a fuckingfavour here. Do you really thinkI’d do this if it’s not gonnabenefit me? I want that lead roleand you’re not having the money ifI’m not Wendy. Got it?

John briefly steps back and BLINKS HASTILY in shock. Heattempts to SWALLOW and responds in a VULNERABLE tone.

JOHNBut Chantelle it isn’t...

Chantelle interrupts and steps forward back into John’s face.

CHANTELLEIsn’t what? Fair? My daddy’s doingyou a fucking favour! Just makesure you do it, otherwise you can

wave goodbye to the money, and wavegoodbye to “AA”.

Angrily, Chantelle STORMS out of the room, leaving aTERRIFIED John. He SWALLOWS again before worryingly staringinto mid air.

INT. SCHOOL LIGHTING BOX - BEFORE15 15

John straightens out his blazer and FIDDLES with his tie,pulling the knot upwards to his top button on his shirt.

JOHN TALKING HEADYes it’s true, we’ve had somesupport from Chantelle’s fatherbefore, but after last time, I

just...

He lowers his head into his hand for a few moments beforesighing heavily.

I suppose we’ve got no choice. Iguess sometimes you have to takerisks in life and think what’s bestfor everyone and the AmDram group.

INT. SCHOOL CAR PARK - BEFORE16 16

JOHN O/SAt the end of the day, money makesthe world go round, and wedefinitely need some money - right

now.

A drained and CLUNKY sound of an engine appears showing Johnsitting CRAMPED in a rustic, grey CAR. The clapped-out enginecuts out whilst John sits and stares depressingly. Nowlooking at a white, CRINKLED letter that has ‘WARNING’

written clearly in red, John glances up and closes his eyesin despair. Suddenly, a MUFFLING echo of a RING TONE appears.John opens his eyes and quickly SCRAMBLES for his phone inhis pocket. He coughs as he prepares to answer the call andhas an UPSET and BLAND tone when he speaks.

JOHNHi mum. Yes I’m fine, how are you?

He lays back into the car seat as he talks on the phone.

JOHN (CONT’D)Yes I’m home for dinner. (beat)No honestly, I’m fine. I’m justcaught up with everything. Well,the auditionees were good, but Ithink I’ve messed up. Remember I

was telling you about Chantelle?(beat)

She’s done it again, and this timeit’s not good.

BACK TO PRESENT:

INT. SCHOOL CANTEEN - EARLY AFTERNOON17 17

Joined by Giles and Alex, John SHARPLY exhales and views thefloor whilst NIBBLING his finger nails. He glares betweenGiles and Alex and talks in a serious tone.

JOHNRight, I’m going to be straight andhonest about this. We all know thiscould be our last chance for thisto work, otherwise it’ll be the endof ‘AA’, so I don’t want anychanges to be made.

John again sharply exhales, causing Giles and Alex to peer toone another.

JOHN (CONT’D)Neither of you want to return backto your old jobs, do you? So weneed to make a safe decision. Makesure Chantelle gets the role asWendy - no argument. She’s a very

talented performer and is the sortof person our company will need.

Alex responds but is interrupted by John’s SHRILLING voice.

JOHN (CONT’D)Just choose the people who you know

will perform well and DON’T takeany risks thinking someone could begood if they are given the chance.Understand?

The MUFFLING sound of a phone can be heard which becomesclear as John HAULS out his phone.

JOHN (CONT’D)Don’t let me down.

John walks off leaving Giles attempting to smile and lightlyshaking his head before FAINTLY responding.

Alex bitterly stands with her hands placed on her hips, whilst Giles sits QUIETLY with a SCARCE look on his face.

How can John possibly thinkChantelle should be Wendy? We allknow Maddie is best suited for therole! Giles why aren’t you doinganything about this?

Giles RUSHES his hands through his hair and reveals ahorrified stare.

GILESAlex darling I know, I know. But we

Alex sits on the edge of the chair in distress and looks upat the ceiling in thought.

INT. SCHOOL HALL - EARLY AFTERNOON19 19

Giles and Alex stop a few yards in front of the AUDITIONEES whilst Giles raises his hand and lightly clears his throat.

GILESLadies and gentleman, the time hascome for us to reveal the roles forthe show.

Alex GAZES across to the auditionees, revealing a serious yetsaddened tone in her voice.

ALEXFirstly, we would like to say thankyou for all of your auditions. Itis never an easy process, but Gilesand I have made our decisions.

She then glances down at the casting sheet.

ALEX (CONT’D)Right so, chosen for the role ofSmee - Jamie. Well done, who else

would fill that role!

Laughter and clapping emerges from some of the auditionees.Ruby claps at a much FASTER and LOUDER pace and MIMESsomething to Jamie.

RUBYWell done!

Jamie BLISSFULLY smiles back and the two gaze at each otherfor a few moments. Giles APPLAUDS at a BLASTING pace.

Ruby CLENCHES both of her hands in EXCITEMENT, whilst some

auditionees clap again.

JAMIEWell done Ruby! I knew you’d getit!

Still ECSTATIC, Jamie spontaneously hugs Ruby. Realizing hissudden movement, he then slyly moves his hands to gentlyNUDGE Ruby’s cheek with his fist. Chantelle suspiciouslystares at Jordan whilst Ruby turns her head to the oppositedirection and SMIRKS.

INT. SCHOOL CANTEEN - BEFORE20 20

Jamie stands and rests his hands on a kitchen surface,seeming casual for his interview as he crosses one of his legover the other.

JAMIE TALKING HEADA girlfriend? Me? Ha! Can’t believeit right? I know, I’m a right catch- honest.

He talks in a joking yet sarcastic manor.

JAMIE TALKING HEAD (CONT’D)I’ve just been promoted to duty

manager at ‘Spill Da Beanz’ now, soyou know. What more could a girl

want?

He points to a circular image printed on his grey shirt.


Alex’s eyes darts amongst the hall and her voice seems lessenthusiastic. She SMIRKS to herself as she says “wonderful”.

ALEXAs we all know, Giles, our“wonderful” director is doubling upand playing Hook. Congratulations!

Giles responds immediately and proudly shuts his eyes andTHROWS his hands out- as if he’s making the most of the

moment.

GILESThank you everybody, everyone!

Unexpectedly to Giles, a SILENCE appears after he talks. Oneof his eyes PEER open, leading him to then GLIMPSE amongstthe auditionees. He SIGHS briefly and glances down in grief

towards the floor, before returning back to the auditionees.

GILES (CONT’D)Oh, no applause? Okay. Anyway. (beat)Next up, Peter Pan. And there’sonly one toosh I want to see flyingabove me.

Giles glances and WINKS at Jordan in a SEDUCTIVE way, beforeCHUCKLING to himself. Jordan SMILES to Giles before stoppingas he senses Chantelle GLARING at him.

GILES (CONT’D)A very well done Jordan, we feelthis character is perfect for you.

The applause and laughter returns but now at a much greaterpace. Jordan responds with a faint smile whilst ChantelleCLAPS and YELLS much LOUDER than everyone else. She LUNGESherself at Jordan and kisses his cheek, causing him to nearlySTUMBLE off his chair.

ALEXNow for the role of Wendy. This wasa very hard choice for us...

Chantelle then ignores Jordan and LEANS forward waitingIMPATIENTLY for the results. Maddie glances up and her bodybecomes TENSE - she lightly CLENCHES her fists and stopsTAPPING her foot.

ALEX (CONT’D)But... (beat)Chantelle. Congratulations, you areWendy.

Chantelle throws her audition sheet into the air - she jumpsup and HOPS on the spot. She YELLS in excitement whilst heraudition sheet gracefully SPIRALS down to the floor. Ruby andJamie give Alex a BAFFLED glance whilst Maddie RELAXES andFLATTENS her hands and turns her head down in disappointment.Chantelle SWIFTLY returns to her seat, CARESSES her hair andacts as if nothing just happened.

ALEX (CONT’D)All other auditionees will fill theextra positions as the lost boys

and the pirates and be stand in’sif necessary.

Alex peeks at Maddie, seeming guilty yet upset.

ALEX (CONT’D)I’m sorry to those who didn’t getthe roles they wanted. There’salways room for improvement and

better luck for next time.


Jamie patiently holds Ruby’s bag whilst she zips up her coat,placing her phone on a chair. Suddenly she and everyone elseFREEZE as the shrilling voice of Chantelle is heard.Chantelle CLIMBS onto a chair and BELTS to everyone withinthe hall.

CHANTELLEEveryone, EVERYONE! My bae Jordanis hosting a celebration partytonight, for me getting the leadrole. You’re all invited; just makesure you bring your own drink. Getthere for half eight. See you soonbitches!

She jumps off the chair, landing in front of the Crew, who make her STARTLE slightly as she regains her position.

CHANTELLE (CONT’D)Oh, yeah, you guys can come aswell,

why not. Yeah, at least then we can watch it back.

Giles attempts to wave goodbye to the Janitor but is ignoredas the Janitor angrily stares into mid-air in concentration.


Now with everyone left, Maddie is being interviewed - her

head is lowered in SORROW as she sits balancing her hands onher cheeks.

MADDIE TALKING HEADI mean, I knew that I wouldn’t getthe role, but I guess after somepeople’s reactions to my audition,I thought, I may’ve been in for achance.

Returning back, Ruby ganders around the hall, PINCHING herchin and INVERTS her eyebrows in CONFUSION. Meantime, she

EAVESDROPS Maddie’s interview, causing her to stop and walkover to Maddie.

MADDIE TALKING HEAD (CONT’D)Oh well, I’m sure Chantelle’saudition was MUCH better anyway.

She places her hands onto Maddie’s shoulders and PEERS aroundto show her presence, causing her to jump slightly.

RUBYOh don’t worry Mattie, we all haveto start off somewhere. You aresuper talented and you will get therole you want sooner than youthink. I remember back in Wales; I

was auditioning for Sandy in Greasebut they gave me bloody Frenchie -livid I was.

Maddie smiles as she LISTENS before glancing around as she

continues to RANT on about her life.

RUBY (CONT’D)But as it turned out - was actuallybetter at it! You just got toembrace these situations, they helpset you up for the future ones!

She attempts to concentrate but her interest slowlydisappears as Ruby continues to talk.

INT. FLAT - EVENING24 24

A CRAMPED and narrow location is lit from white fairy-lightsattached to the surrounding walls. A bright glow thatGLIMMERS from the LIVING ROOM FLASHES and reveals a narrowhallway, leading to a CLUSTERED and small KITCHEN. Maddiesits on a black-surfaced counter, taking a SIP from a plasticcup and TAPS her foot on a cabinet to the FADED BEAT of musicthat PULSATES throughout the hallway.

Near the hallway, an ECHO of a voice is heard from theBEDROOM.

ALEXChantelle? Chantelle! Where is...

The door SWINGS open and Alex appears, seeming STARTLED asshe opens the door.

ALEX (CONT’D)Woah, sorry! Thought you wereChantelle then. Err...

Alex glances around before introducing the Crew to the PARTY

by THROWING her hands in the air.

Alex sits on the edge of a made double bed. The patternedcurtains are drawn whilst the ceiling light briefly GLOWS theroom, revealing an unimpressed Alex, who supports her headand boredom with her hands.

ALEX TALKING HEADWell like always, Jordan throws aparty for Chantelle for her gettingthe ‘best’ role.

She sarcastically inverts two of her fingers as she says

‘best’.

ALEX TALKING HEAD (CONT’D)I mean, they’re fun. We start offplaying beer pong before Chantelleinterrupts and makes up her ownrules, making sure she wins.

INT. FLAT LIVING ROOM - BEFORE26 26

Jamie and Ruby stand opposite Alex and Chantelle over a long wooden table with a net in the centre of the table, and twosets of plastic cups - one on each side. Chantelle LEANSacross and literally LAYS on the table as she gently THROWS a

white ball into one of the cups. She then SCREAMS in apiercing manor as she celebrates whilst Alex doesn’t seeminterested whatsoever.

ORIGINAL ANGLE

Alex now seems THRILLED - her SPEECH is more enthusiastic and

she WIGGLES her clenched fists in the air as she says‘karaoke!’.

ALEX TALKING HEADAnd then! The best part of thenight - karaoke!

Her SARCASTIC excitement then instantly returns back to beingunimpressed.

ALEX TALKING HEAD (CONT’D)Now when you think karaoke, you

think - great, a group activity!No. Not when Chantelle’s around.

Chantelle grips onto a black MICROPHONE, standing directly infront of a small television as she sings karaoke. Jordan,Alex and Ruby are HUDDLED onto a CRAMPED leather sofa. Alexand Ruby attempt to SMILE but instead CRINGE as Chantellesings the words that appear on the television.

CHANTELLE[Chris Brown - With You]I don’t want nobody else. Withoutyou, there’s no one left and,You’re like Jordans on Saturday, Igotta have you and I cannot wait

now, Hey!

Jordan however is leaning forward concentrating on the maleartist on the television, seeming more interested by himrather than Chantelle.

Alex sighs briefly before revealing a PLEASANT smile.

ALEX TALKING HEADBut you know, I suppose all of thecrew deserve some time off! I’dhate to think this could be theirlast ever time, I’ve never realizedhow much passion there is intheatre. I mean, I’ve never seen agroup of people so determined to

make this show work.

INT. FLAT KITCHEN - NIGHT28 28

Alex leaves the bedroom and carefully SKIPS down the darkened

hallway which leads to the kitchen. She FLICKERS the kitchenlight and JUMPS as she realizes Maddie is sitting on thecounter.

ALEXWoah, Maddie, shit. You alone?

Maddie PEEKS at Alex and QUIETLY laughs to herself.

MADDIEAlmost always.

She lowers her eyebrows in concern to what she just said.Maddie then BLURTS out a question in an attempt to cover up what she just said.

ALEXWell, her boyfriend’s not sorry.You know, you wouldn’t think thatbeing in a relationship for 2 years

with someone, you’d find out thatyour ex has been sleeping with a

GUY from her gym. Oh, and nowthey’re in a happy relationship andthey’ve just moved to Chicago. But,you know, there’s nothing I can doabout it.

Maddie SIPS her drink and awkwardly peers around the room, whilst Alex SMASHES the bottle of wine before filling up herglass. She then WAVES the bottle towards Maddie.

ALEX (CONT’D)Sorry, do ‘ya Fancy a top up?

Maddie then smiles to Alex, before holding her cup in the air whilst Alex tops it up. All of a sudden, the sound of a doorSLAMMING is heard, which is shortly followed by CREAKINGfootsteps that gradually LOUDENS until Jordan appears at thetop of the stairs. Alex leans over to peak around the wallbefore smiling to Jordan.

JORDANOh, hey Alex, how’s it going?

He then places a white carrier bag on the kitchen surface,creating a TINGING sound that ECHOES throughout the hallway.As he draws out the glass bottles from the bag, Jordan stops

what he’s doing and seems startled as he glances at Maddie.

JORDAN (CONT’D)Sorry I didn’t know you were here,Maggie right? Well, I’m Jordan.

The bottles CLINK against each other as Jordan places them ina small white fridge. Maddie bites her lip as she prepares torespond to Jordan, before Alex JUMPS into conversation. Sheleans towards Jordan and briefly raises her voice as she says‘Maddie’.

ALEXDon’t worry Jordan, I’m sure MADDIEcould work out who you were just bylistening to Chantelle.

She GIGGLES to herself and holds her laughter in as bothMaddie and Jordan respond with a blank expression.

JORDANHa, hilarious, nice one Alex.

They all GRIN whilst Jordan stretches over Maddie to reachfor a pint glass. Maddie SHUFFLES back and leans against akitchen cupboard in an attempt to stay out of Jordan’s way.

ANOTHER ANGLE

Coming from the end of the hallway, a door SMASHES against a wall and we see Chantelle appear - she glares towards thekitchen in an extremely intimidating yet fearful manor. Heranger is clear judging from her FLARED nostrils and a EERIE

GRINDING sound coming from her mouth as she painfully GRINDSchewing gum amongst her teeth.

ORIGINAL ANGLE

Hearing the SMASH, Alex, Jordan and Maddie’s conversationstops as they all TILT their heads to Chantelle.

INT. FLAT BEDROOM - NIGHT29 29

Still showing her EXPLOSIVE look, Chantelle stands andCLENCHES her hands around her hips.

CHANTELLE TALKING HEADNO ONE, goes for my man. And I meanNO ONE.

She THROWS her head in anger as she SCREAMS ‘NO ONE’.

CHANTELLE TALKING HEAD (CONT’D)Especially not this new girl.Maggie? I don’t know who theflipping EFF she thinks she is.

INT. FLAT KITCHEN - NIGHT30 30

Chantelle attempts to calm herself down by closing her eyesand inhaling deeply. In failure, she STOMPS along thehallway, causing the floor to SHIVER. Jordan RUBS his handsalong his forehead and MURMURS quietly to himself.

JORDANOh god. Here we go again.

Chantelle finishes with one last PIERCING STOMP. She staresdirectly into Jordan’s eyes in an attempt for him to speak,but instead he stares back without saying a word.

CHANTELLEJORDAN! What on Earth do you thinkyour doing with this Maggie girl?!

Maddie looks at the floor and responds in a TREMORED voice.

MADDIE

Its Maddie, not Maggie.

Chantelle sarcastically looks up to Maddie and QUIVERS herlip in a sympathetic manor.

CHANTELLEOh I’m ever so sorry!

She leans forward and SQUEALS in Maddie’s face.

CHANTELLE (CONT’D)Mattie, Maggie, whatever your nameis!

She then ABRUPTLY moves her head centimeters away fromJordan’s face and SCREECHES.

CHANTELLE (CONT’D)What do you think you’re doingflirting with the new girl? How

could you do this on MY partynight, does it look like I have mug written on my forehead?

Jordan anxiously steps back and TUTS QUIETLY at Chantelle.His voice raises as an attempt to compete with Chantelle’s.

JORDANChantelle you’re overreacting, Ionly leaned over to get my drink.See?

He SHAKES his drink in front of Chantelle’s face, causingsome to DRIZZLE and LEAK down the side of the cup.

JORDAN (CONT’D)I was only saying hi! Fucking hell,

we’re gonna be working togetherfrom now on so I was onlyintroducing myself!

Maddie now looks up at Jordan and Chantelle in confidence.

MADDIEWe were just talking, that’s all.

Speechless, Chantelle continues to stare between Jordan andMaddie. Uninvolved in the argument, Alex, who is SQUASHED andcornered in the kitchen, SLYLY and QUIETLY sips her drink.Chantelle SPINS around and STOMPS back up the hallway, withthe VIBRATION of her footsteps slowly fading away.

ANOTHER ANGLE

As Chantelle reaches the end of the hallway, the bedroom doorsuddenly SWINGS open, shortly followed by Jamie and Ruby whoSTUMBLE out of the room. They bounce off the hallway

bannister and drunkenly fall to the floor as they laughHYSTERICALLY.

Clueless to people watching, Ruby falls into Jamie’s chest asthey’re laughter comes to an end before he hugs her frombehind.

Chantelle reveals a GOBSMACKED expression. She opens her mouth wide and blinks promptly.

CHANTELLEWhat the eff?

Jamie and Ruby quickly stand up as they acknowledgeChantelle. He gently NUDGES Ruby to his side and the tworemain SPEECHLESS as they peer between everyone. Tension isreleased when Jordan CLAPS EMPHATICALLY.

JORDAN

Wahey! Go on Jamie! I knew you hadit in ya boy!

Jordan EXCITEDLY squeezes past Chantelle and Alex and lowersone of his hands, where Jamie joyfully HIGH-FIVE’S him. Alexholds her glass seeming SMUG whilst Ruby begins to panic -her eyes dart around the room and she quietly STUTTERS as shedoesn’t know what to say.

ALEXWell, who knew?

Ruby nervously bites her lip before FORCING herself pastJamie and Jordan, leaving Jamie to seem CONFUSED. She grabsher black jacket from the bannister before RUSHING down thestairs and leaving the flat with a sudden BANG from the door.

JAMIERuby, wait! Where are you going?

INT. SCHOOL STAGE - MORNING AFTER31 31

Sunlight BEAMS through the tall glass windows in the schoolhall. The light GLIMMERS across the wooden stage floor,GLISTERING the room and some of the cast who are gathered on

the school stage. Most of the crew appear not to seem asSHIMMERING as the sunlight - Maddie attempts to hide herselfby pulling her hooded jumper over her head, whilst Rubystruggles to keep her eyes open. A more energetic Giles andAlex STROLL onto stage before joining the crew. Gilesforcefully coughs and raises his hand, causing the MURMURINGECHO of conversation to stop.

GILESGood morning all, and what abeautiful morning it is! Today isour first day of rehearsals, so

let’s begin with a bang andrehearse the ‘You Can Fly’ scene.

Momentarily, Jordan appears from the far end of the hallway.He walks at a SLUGGISH pace and seems distressed, judgingfrom his lowered eyebrows. He is wearing a TIGHT, vivid greencostume with a matching pointed hat which has a red featherattached. He TUGS on his sleeves and his trousers BRUSHacross his ankles as he walks. An echo of conversation arises

from the stage before turning into a murmur of laughter.

ALEXWow Jordan, looking swarve! There’snothing wrong with ‘dressing thepart’, but it’s a bit....

Jordan, whose rage is now building judging from him rollinghis eyes, suddenly HUFFS and interrupts Alex.

JORDANYes I know it’s a bit tight, you

don’t have to tell me! Let’s justget on with this yeah?

He SLUMPS up to the stairs leading to the stage beforethrowing himself onto a plastic chair. Chantelle too HUFFSand glares at Jordan, FLARING her nostrils in an attempt tocapture his attention. Giles meanwhile seems INTRIGUED - his

mouth is hanging open and he smirks at Jordan before swiftlyWINKING one of his eyes at him.

GILESI say Jordan, you look fabulous.

INT. SCHOOL LIGHTING BOX - MORNING32 32

Chantelle again FLARES her nostrils and rolls her eyes.

CHANTELLE TALKING HEADHow did our rehearsals go? You cananswer that yourself. For a start,NO-ONE put any effort in.

ANOTHER ANGLE

GILESSo for this we will be needing Rubyas Tinkerbell, Chantelle as Wendy,and Jordan as Peter.

Jordan looks blankly through Giles as he STRUGGLES to stayawake. Jamie too seems at a loss - he leans into his chairrevealing a hollow expression. Feeling GROGGY from theprevious night, a rather pale and STRESSED looking Ruby isholding her stomach softly with one hand and her head withthe other.

CHANTELLE O/SI mean, I did try telling peoplenot to drink too much last night‘cos it’ll ruin everything fortoday.

INT. SCHOOL LIGHTING BOX - MORNING33 33

CHANTELLE TALKING HEADBut did anyone listen to me? No.Selfish. (beat)Secondly, Ruby decided to beselfish by ruining MY scene because

she felt ‘sick’. I mean, did shepurposely wait for it to be my linefor her to then run away and throwup?

ANOTHER ANGLE

Jordan, Chantelle and Ruby stand yards away from each otheras they rehearse for the show. Chantelle WHIPS her hairbehind her head and PATS herself down in preparation. Rubyseems startled and jolts slightly before holding her stomach

with both hands.

GILESAnd, scene set. (beat)Action.

As Giles says action, this leads Jordan to effortlessly raisehis hand to point to the ceiling.

JORDANI know what we need, (beat)Pixie dust!

Reading from his sheet, he suddenly grabs Ruby’s hips, gentlyshaking her to and fro in an attempt to find the ‘pixiedust’. Ruby begins to hold her breath and FREEZES, beforeshoving Jordan away. She flees the stage and SPRINTS towardsthe changing room, with the sound of her GAGGING loudeningthe school stage.

ORIGINAL ANGLE

CHANTELLE TALKING HEADAnd lastly. Jordan. He hasn’t even

apologized for last night and we’renot even talking.

Jamie LAUNCHES out of his chair and hastily walks to joinRuby.

GILESJamie darling where are you...

Giles attempts to stop Jamie however fails, leaving a ratherbitter expression on his face.

GILES (CONT’D)Ok, fine.

(beat)We’ll set for the ‘Thimble Kiss’scene.

Chantelle makes a PITHY GRUNTING noise in disappointment.

GILES (CONT’D)When you’re ready, Jordan.

Jordan picks up his script and FLICKS through several pagesin an attempt to find the scene.

CHANTELLEJordan look, it’s here.

Chantelle assists him by SNATCHING the script for a few moments before LAUNCHING it back to Jordan.

JORDANYes Chantelle I know, give it back.

He gives her a disappointing GLARE before memorizing thescript.

JORDAN (CONT’D)

A thimble? What’s a thimble?

All of a sudden, Chantelle’s temper EXPLODES - she HURLS herscript towards the floor, causing it to swiftly spiral down.Chantelle’s foot SMASHES against the floor, creating anECHOING CLUNK.

CHANTELLEEveryone knows its KISS first, andthen THIMBLE! I can’t work withthese amateurs! Ugh, I’m takingfive!

She furiously VACATES the stage, causing Jordan to thenSCRUNCH his script in fury and glare up to the ceiling beforeSIGHING heavily.

JORDANChantelle don’t be a diva, I’ve got

work in forty-five minutes!

Alex SHAKES her head in disappointment. Giles QUIVERS his mouth as he struggles on what to say.

GILESGreat. Err,

(beat)We’re going to need an understudy.

Jordan and Alex glance at Maddie. She becomes ALARMED anddarts her eyes around the room as she realizes what is

happening. Suddenly, silence is broken as the Janitor NUDGESMaddie forward whilst giving her a reassuring look that gainsGiles’ attention. Maddie feels the pressure - her bodyFREEZES and her knees begin to SHUDDER in anxiety. Giles’face however lights up and he smiles at Maddie in an attemptto calm her nerves.

GILES (CONT’D)Ah Mattie, fabulous! Thank-you forstepping in.

Maddie replies almost LOUDLY, yet is ignored by Giles.

MADDIEIt’s Maddie!

Giles CLAPS EMPHATICALLY and some of the crew then leanforward to show their interest in Maddie.

GILESRight everybody! Let’s try the‘Thimble kiss’ scene, everybody getinto position.

Maddie SWALLOWS nervously and blinks at a faster rate. Giles

points to a part of Maddie’s script.

GILES (CONT’D)Right Maddie we’re going to startfrom here.

Giles then SHUFFLES back and CLAPS as he says ‘ACTION!’

GILES (CONT’D)So Maddie begin with ‘How old areyou Peter?’ And, ACTION!

She takes one last deep breath and lightly NODS her head inagreement.

Her eyes close briefly before looking directly at Jordan.Likewise to Maddie, Jordan now seems anxious - he stands upstraight and his posture seems tight.

MADDIEHow old are you, Peter?

JORDANI ran away. One night I heard my

mother and father talking on what Ineed to do to become a man. So, Iran away to Kensington gardens

which is where I met Tink.

Maddie’s voice now seems BOLDER as she begins to gainconfidence - she looks at Jordan more instead of her script.

Maddie then smiles at Jordan and SNIGGERS to HERSELF.

MADDIEBut there’s no such thing as...

Jordan suddenly jogs over to Maddie before covering her mouth with his hand. Giles and Alex both watch with a serious gaze.

JORDANDon’t say that! Every time someonesays that, a fairy somewhere fallsdown dead. And I shall never findher if she’s dead!

Now seeming more motivated than the previous rehearsal,Jordan removes his hand from Maddie’s mouth. Maddie thenraises her eyebrows and her mouth drops open in excitement.

MADDIEYou don’t mean to tell me, there’sa fairy in this room?

JORDANYes. And I need to find her.

Maddie walks towards Jordan, dropping the script whilst doing

so. She then looks directly into his eyes.

MADDIEPeter, you found her!

Still in character, JORDAN sighs and SMIRKS to himself.

JORDAN

I knew it.

MADDIEI should like to give you, a, (beat)a, kiss.

JORDANWhat’s that?

Maddie glances at Giles for reassurance. She suddenly returnsback to reality and nervously darts her eyes around the room

as the two are now due to kiss. All of a sudden, a BLARINGCLAP is heard which LOUDENS as John appears. He seems DAZZLEDby their performance, judging from his GLEAMING smile. Maddieand Jordan then smile faintly at each other before BLISSFULLYlooking down as the cast begin to APPLAUD.

JOHNThat was amazing, well done both ofyou!

Alex smiles HEARTILY at Maddie.

JOHN (CONT’D)Maggie, you have incredible talent,

why haven’t we seen any of this?You both work extremely welltogether. Giles, I have no idea whyyou haven’t given Maddie a shot asWendy, she’s what we need to turnthis company around!

Frustratingly, Giles looks at John in a confused manor. HeSHUFFLES over to him before WHISPERING in his ear.

GILES

But John darling, I’m just doing...

John then STEPS towards Maddie - completely ignoring Giles.

JOHNUsually I’d play it safe and I’mhoping I won’t regret this. ButMaddie, do you fancy the role asWendy?

John sits up straight on a black chair and fiddles with hiscollar.

JOHN TALKING HEAD

As soon as I saw Maddie’sperformance I could picture herbeing Wendy. Yes, I know we needthe money but, we can just aboutcope without Chantelle’s help.Maddie could be the one to turnthis company around! Let’s just...

The MUFFLING echo of a ring tone appears, causing John toSCRAMBLE for his phone.

JOHN TALKING HEAD (CONT’D)

Sorry, one second.

He SLIDES it from his pocket and looks down to the floor inconcentration.

JOHN TALKING HEAD (CONT’D)Hi mum, can I call you back in a

minute? I’m in an interview at the moment.

John then smiles to himself as he continues to talk on thephone.

JOHN TALKING HEAD (CONT’D)Yeah, I done it. You should come infor the next rehearsal, you wouldlove Mattie! Yeah I’ll call you ina bit. Yes, I’ll be home in timefor dinner. OK mum, love you, bye.

He continues to smile and places his phone back into hispocket.

JOHN TALKING HEAD (CONT’D)Sorry that was just my mum, she’s

constantly ringing to see how it’sall going. Sometimes I think sheloves the theatre more than me!


Maddie responds by initially glancing at Alex forreassurance, in which we see Alex graciously smile and MIMEsomething to Maddie.

Without warning, a DEAFENING BANG is heard off stage, causingMaddie to JOLT. Jordan shakes his head and covers his eyes.

The sound of HEAVY footsteps SMASHING the wooden floorgradually LOUDEN, before Chantelle appears on stage. HerFLARED nostrils and CLENCHED fists show she heard what Johnsaid as she then furiously unclips her CLIP MICROPHONE beforeLAUNCHING it to the floor, causing an ECHOING BOOM.

CHANTELLETurn this off now! Turn it off!

She SCREECHES and chases the CAMERA MAN off stage.

INT. SCHOOL HALL - AFTERNOON37 37

Returning back to the hall, Giles and Alex both appearreasonably QUIET and seem EDGY.

ALEX TALKING HEADFirstly, we’d just like toapologize for Chantelle’s actions,

we didn’t really expect her to gocrazy at the camera. Oh and we’llpay for the damage for the clip

mic...

She then WHISPERS and looks around the room.

ALEX TALKING HEAD (CONT’D)Erm, Somehow...

Giles interrupts Alex and momentarily LEANS forward. His handSPRINGS forward in motion with his speech, whilst he closeshis eyes in a prideful manner.

GILES TALKING HEADBut what do you know! Maggie is nowWendy! We all know that show bizzcan be tough, but at least now wehave a chance to shine!

Alex in revenge interrupts him with a patronising grin - shepretentiously smiles at Giles as she corrects him.

ALEX TALKING HEADGiles, you do know her name’sMaddie, not Maggie, right?

Giles attempts to reply however stops after a few moments.His excitement suddenly turns to a face of guilt as herealizes he has been saying Maddie’s name wrong. He now moveshis hand to cover his face, looks to his right-hand side andSTEALTHILY mimes something to himself.

GILES

Bugger!

Alex’s pretentious grin then turns to a very ADAMANT smirk.
