Clean Nova Scotia LED
Holiday Light Exchange
Saturday November 30, 11 am – 2 pm
Clean Nova Scotia is pleased to partner with Downtown Dartmouth
Business Commission this holiday season to invite visitors to Dart-
mouth’s growing neighbourhood of vibrant shops and businesses.
Please drop by the main office of Clean Nova Scotia at 126 Portland
Street in Dartmouth on Saturday, November 30 between 11 am to 2
pm as a part of the Santa Shops Downtown event.
Clean Nova Scotia will be hosting an LED Holiday Light Exchange,
where we will offer visitors one set of LED holiday lights in exchange
for two sets of traditional holiday lights, to help save energy this holi-
day season.
Last year there were over 100 light exchanges held across Nova Scotia
through the Holiday Light Exchange program and close to 20,000
traditional holiday lights were collected and recycled responsibly. The
program resulted in an energy savings of over 270,000 kilowatt hours
during the holiday season.

You are invited to contribute to the 2014 Budget Consultation process by partici-
pating in online engagement. Citizens are encouraged to share their thoughts on
service priorities and how they would like to see municipal tax dollars allocated.
HRM has also just launched a new online tool, the Budget Allocator, via the
municipality’s web-based engagement portal:
www.shapeyourcityhalifax.ca/hfxtax
This tool provides people with a unique glimpse into the experience of balancing
the city’s budget. It allows residents to simulate adjusting the municipal tax dol-
lars allocated to various services like transit, parks and policing – and see the
potential impact this has on both service delivery and the overall budget.
The feedback provided online via HRM’s online engagement portal and the
Budget Allocator tool will help inform HRM about what residents consider to be
their spending priorities.
The Public is advised that the Alderney Ferry Terminal Plaza will be completely
closed to the public for approximately two to three weeks as part of the upgrades
to the plaza.
During this time all doors from the ferry terminal will remain open, however
pedestrian traffic to and from the building to Portland street will be through Al-
derney Landing only. Residents can access the Ferry Terminal Park and the new
playground through the door directly adjacent to the Tim Hortons located in the
terminal and along the boardwalk.
Upgrades to the Alderney Ferry Terminal Plaza began on October 14. The scope
of work includes the removal of the red brick pavers which will be replaced with
timber decking and a concrete thoroughfare. The upgrades will also include ad-
ditional lighting, benches, and new planting.
The full work is anticipated to be completed in late December.
