NOTES: As a specialist within the racing community I am often asked for guidance on specialized lubrication challenges. Sometimes the answer that I must give is a qualified answer and often is dependent upon knowing and understanding the specifics of the actual application. The attached Motorcycle Chain Lubrication article was published in Motorcycle Consumer News in 2001. In the following article I participated with the author by giving technical guidance on testing methods, my equipment and methodology and on the evaluation process of products. The product that I was responsible for was the Torco International, Corp. “Titanium Chain” Lubricant. The product in the MCN 2001 article used a “third generation” of the Titanium chemistry lubrication technology that was intended for extreme motorcycle and ATV conditions. This chemistry was the next generation of lubricants that had heritage from my development of the Lubrication Dynamics, Inc. / Duralube ® products. Due to the costs involved in laboratory testing and then application field testing it was determined by the magazine that these informal testing methods adequately answered the common questions and concerns related to motorcycle chain lubrication. I hope that this information helps people understand that many factors are considered when high speed motorcycle chain lubrication is discussed. Respectfully, Chris F.
