PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE: Dear Jamieson Families, October was a very busy and eventful month! I hope that everyone has had an opportunity to admire the beautiful Fall and Halloween art that is currently on display at our school.

We were very fortunate to have 3 Crows Production visit us during the month of October - thank you to Dallas Yellowfly for sharing with us about Indigenous Culture, traditions, and values through the art of Storytelling.

We are very excited to be getting ready to move back to our Jamieson School Site! The move will begin after school on November 8 and finish during the November Long Weekend. The first day of classes in our newly renovated school building will be Tuesday, November 13. There is so much to be looking forward to! KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION - NOVEMBER 1 TO JANUARY 31 Kindergarten Registration for children born in 2014 begins on Thursday, November 1, 2018. Priority registration for Kindergartens ends on Thursday, January 31, 2019. This year, the VSB is implementing a new registration process which includes two separate steps: Step 1: Completion of an online application form (available Nov. 1 - link will be posted on our school website when it is available) Step 2: Bringing supporting documentation, along with your child, to your English catchment neighbourhood school. Please note that the following supporting documentation is required for registration:

1. Proof of Residence in Vancouver 2. Child’s birth certificate 3. Immunization documentation (if

applicable) 4. Immunization records 5. Court Orders/Documents (if applicable)

If you would like to apply for a choice program or cross boundary, you must first apply to your English catchment Elementary School. Applications to Choice Programs and Cross-Boundary placements will begin to be accepted in early 2019. We have posted onto our school website further information on Kindergarten registration. MANDARIN BILINGUAL PROGRAM REGISTRATION - NOVEMBER 1 TO JANUARY 31 Registration to the Jamieson Mandarin Bilingual Program begins on November 1, 2018. The deadline for applications is on January 31, 2019. Application forms are available in our school office. We will be hosting a Mandarin Bilingual Program Information Evening on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 6:30 PM in the Jamieson School Library. HALLOWEEN PARADE - OCTOBER 31, 9:15 AM Our Parade will begin at 9:15 AM. If your child(ren) are dressing in a costume for the parade, please note the following about appropriate costumes for school: • Fake weapons of any sort (plastic or otherwise)

should not be a part of a costume • Costumes should not display excessive gore or

horror (no blood) • Masks are allowed, but they should be taken off

when asked by staff We kindly ask that Parents/Guardians that would like to observe the parade to please do so from the designated outdoor areas (basketball court blacktop, primary grass field, primary playground).

REMEMBRANCE DAY ASSEMBLY - NOVEMBER 11, 11:00 AM Our Remembrance Day Assembly will feature a number of performances from different divisions. Thank you to Ms. Korf for organizing our Honour Guard for this important assembly. There will be limited seating for parents/guardians. We kindly ask parents/guardians that would like to attend to not applaud during this assembly.

‘BACK TO JAMIESON’ WINTER SOCIAL - NOVEMBER 30, 6:00 PM Mark your calendars! The ‘Back to Jamieson’ Winter Social 2018 will take place at our newly renovated school on Friday, November 30. Join us for a free, fun evening of fantastic food, friends and entertainment. This is also a great opportunity for Jamieson families to see our newly renovated school! Please bring an appetizer or main dish to share at the Potluck Dinner, your own plates/cutlery/water bottles (let’s protect our environment!), and your dancing shoes and best moves! The PAC will also be hosting a Silent Auction (toys, gift baskets, gift cards and more) with all proceeds going to support our school! More information about the Winter Social and Silent Auction will be sent out to families in the upcoming weeks. Jamieson PAC Fantastic Fall Fundraising Campaign is on! The popular gift card program is back, in addition to Cineplex movie tickets, St Germain certificates and new this year – poinsettias! Order for the upcoming holiday season – for your family, yourself or as corporate gifts – and help raise funds for Jamieson. When you buy from our school program, a portion of sales goes to Jamieson PAC to support school needs such as student agendas, classroom equipment and school supplies! Order forms have been sent home with students, and extra order forms are available outside the school office.
