The Medical Council of India has sanctioned an intake of 250 for the MBBS course, 140 seats for the post graduatemedical course (MD and MS) in as many as 20 subjects, 24 diploma seats and 5 seats for super-specialty (M.Ch.)Course in Neuro-surgery, Urology and DM (Nephrology) to the Medical College. The MBBS degree of theVidyapeeth has been recognized by the Malaysian Government and Malaysian Medical Council.

The Dental College has highly specialized units and equipment managed by empathetic staff, renowned specialistand highly skilled technicians. It was then only 2nd Institute in India so graded. The college has a sanctionedintake of 100 students for the BDS course and 49 students for MDS course in nine dental specialities. We haveestablished a Clinical Research Centre in the Dental College that will undertake teaching and researchprogrammes in collaboration with Goldman school of Dental Medicine, Boston University, Boston, USA. TheBDS degree of the University has been recognized by the Malaysian Government and Malaysian Dental Council.

In keeping with our commitment to excellence, a large hi-tech hospital is under construction on the campus, whichwill have an area of 7, 25,000 sq. ft. and provision for 1480beds. This hospital will have 12 basic OPD's, 10 Super-speciality OPDs and 21 OperationTheatres.

Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centreestablished in 1996, received recognition of the MedicalCouncil of India (MCI), for the award of MBBS degree from itsvery first batch.The Dr. D.Y. PatilVidyapeeth comprising of Dr.D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, hasbeen accorded the status of University under section 3 of theUGC Act, 1956, vide Notification No. F. 9-39/2001-U.3 dated11 Jan. 2003 of the Government of India.th

In 2003, the college was permitted to conduct postgraduatecourses in a some subjects. In June 2005, the college wasallowed an intake of 81 students in post graduate degree anddiploma courses. Presently there are 250 intake for MBBS and126 PG-students in the following 20 subjects : General Surgery,Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology,Otorhinolaryngology (ENT), General Medicine, Paediatrics,Anaesthesiology, Psychiatry, Radiodiagnosis, RespiratoryMedicine, Dermatology, Venerology and Leprosy, Pathology,

Community Medicine, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry and Emergency Medicine. The college alsoconducts super-specialty courses in Neuro Surgery, Urology and Nephrology. The Ph.D. Programme is also available in all subjects inMedical College.

These recognitions and expansions granted by the MCI, UGC, MHRD and by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government ofIndia are the result of visionary guidance and whole hearted support of our President, the efforts put in by the faculty and the excellentfacilities such as spacious buildings, measuring 1,03,671 sq. mtrs. large lecture halls, well-equipped laboratories, well-stocked library, ahospital with super speciality facilities, such as MRI, whole body CT Scan, ICUs with ventilators, and the equipment required for NeuroSurgery, Plastic Surgery, etc.

Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune Administrative Building andDr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre arelocated in the same sprawling campus at Pimpri. The college buildingis a masterpiece of architecture and has state-of-the-art facilities thatare in tune with the best in the world. The college building basks infine aesthetics and is impressive. The college has five well laid-out lecture halls; six with seatingcapacity of 300 each and three examination halls with seatingcapacity of 250 each. The desks are well spaced out and halls are airy,well-lit and have fine acoustics. Each hall also has the latest audiovisual teaching aids. All other aspects pertaining to medical learninghave been taken into account in planning and making of these lecturehalls.

The FacilitiesAUDITORIUM - InculcatingVersatilityThe Auditorium is centrally air-conditioned and is fully equipped with audio-visual facilities. It is extensively used for seminars,symposia, lectures of eminent speakers, etc.

LIBRARY -AResource & Information CentreThe college has an excellent central library facility. It has a total floor area of 4000 sq. meter, with a provision for a separate reading roomfor the teaching staff and spacious reading halls to accommodate over 750 students. The total collection of the library is more than 22,060volumes. The Library subscribes to most of the National and International Journals required for the undergraduate and post-graduatestudents and faculty.Apart from 1747 online journals, in addition to the central library facility, each Department has its own DepartmentalLibrary. The Reading Room of the central library is kept open from 7 a.m. to midnight for the students to use it according to theirconvenience, need and habit.

The central library has been provided with Wi-Fi internet facility and students and the faculty have open access to this facility. As theCollege and hostels are 'Wi-Fi' enabled, the students can access information from any point any where.

Parental CareStudents admitted to the first year MBBS are from 10+2 streamfrom other different states of India and there is a structuraldifference between the school and college education. In a bid to provide better health care facilities to its patients and society, a new state-of-the-art, Siemens Avanto 1.5 Tesla MagneticResonance Imaging (MRI) machine, with matrix technology was installed at the Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital and theResearch Centre, Pimpri. With this addition, the institute has two MRI machines and 30-40 MRI examinations are daily providedimmediately to the needy patients.

The department of Radio Diagnosis and Imaging is very well equipped and is one of the best center in Pune.

The department incorporating the newer ideas and most up-to-date features, has facilities, such as Two MRI Machines, DSA and MultiSlice CT Scanners.An excellent Mammography unit helps in early diagnosis and management of breast diseases. The department also hasHigh Resolution Colour Doppler and Ultrasonography units with all the latest probes. Digital Radiography, Conventional X-ray units andImage Intensifier provide the basic radiography set up.

The machine uses Total Imaging Matrix (TIM) technology. The MRI is capable of imaging the whole body with applications for brain,spine, abdomen, heart, musculo-skeletal, breast etc. In addition to routine studies, advanced applications in neurology, orthopaedics,whole body diffusion, non-contrast perfusion and high resolution peripheral imaging are possible. Also, in case of non-cooperative andpaediatric patients it is possible to correct motion artifacts. Imaging of abdomen without holding of breath by the patient can also be donewith the help of this machine.

Other advanced applications like colour mapping of tracts of brain, functional brain imaging, brain perfusion studies without contrastinjection along with whole body diffusion imaging are possible on this equipment. Three dimensional (3D) acquisitions with sub-millimeter resolution of body, high resolution breast imaging, early detection of degeneration of cartilage and spectroscopy are otheravailable tools.Angiographies of limbs are possible without patient repositioning adding to the patients comfort and speed of examinationthroughout.

In keeping with our commitment to excellence, a large Hi-tech Hospital is under construction on the campus.

Dr. D.Y. Patil Hi-tech Hospital and Research Centre is being built on a total area of 7,25,000 sq. ft. with a provision of 14800 beds, 12 basicOPDs, 10 Super-speciality OPDs & 21 operation theatres, angiography, angioplasty and stent implantations, cardio-vascular surgery(bypass and valve replacement), electrophysiology and radio frequency ablation therapy, paediatric and neonatal surgery, transplantationof kidney and bone marrow, replacement of hip, elbow and knee joints, cosmetic surgery & laser surgical facility.

Cancer diagnostic & treatments including radiotherapy, ultra fast cardiac C.T. scan, In-Vitro Fertilization and embryo transplant (test tubebaby), trauma centre, eye bank, stem cell bank, bone marrow bank, blood bank with component separation facility, Cardiac, surgical,medical, neonatal & paediatric intensive care units, etc. The hospital is proposed to have a helipad with facilities for air ambulance in caseof emergencies

2. Internship means 12 months compulsory rotatinginternship after passing the MBBS examination as per thenorms laid down by the Medical Council of India(“MCI” ).

3. Co-ordination Committee means a Committeeconstituted by the Hon'ble Vice Chancellor of Dr. D.Y.Patil Vidyapeeth for conducting the Entrance Test for theselection of students for admission to PostgraduateCourses.

4. Recognized Qualification means the Degree of MBBSobtained from any Medical College or Institution in India,recognized by the Medical Council of India.

5. Registration means registration of MBBS qualificationwith the State Medical Council/MCI after completion ofinternship.

6. Postgraduate Teacher means the Medical Teacherrecognized as a Post Graduate Teacher by theUniversity/Medical Council of India.

7. The bona-fide NRI, PIOs and Foreign Nationals aredefined as follows :

(a) An NRI is a person who is 'not a resident' or who is 'notordinarily resident'. A person is treated as 'notordinarily resident'(i) If he / she has been resident in India for less than182 days in the year preceding the date of application.(ii) If he/she has been in India for less than 365 daysduring the four years immediately preceding the date ofapplication.

(b) A PIO is a person having foreign citizenship (exceptPakistan and Bangladesh) within NRI status, but whoholds a foreign passport at the time of application or atthe time of consideration of admission and during theperiod of his / her study and whose one/both parents oranyone/both grandparent (s) is/are (or was/were),citizen (s), of India by virtue of the provisions of theConstitution of India or Section 2 (b) of the CitizenshipAc 1955 (Ac. No. 5 of 1955)

(c) An FN is a person having Citizenship of a foreigncountry (an country other than India) and not havingthe status 'NRI' and / or 'PIO'.

Important : Under NRI, PIO & FN categories, "Only those non-resident Indian students, who have studied and passed thequalifiying examination from colleges located in foreigncountries, will be included as international students. Eligibility Criteria:1. The candidate, who possesses Indian Nationality, with a

proof in the form of Nationality Certificate /valid passport,is eligible to appear forAIPGMET- 2016.

2. The candidate who has passed final MBBS examinationfrom a recognized Medical College, included in theschedule of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956, iseligible.

3. The candidate who has obtained registration either fromthe MCI or from authorized State Medical Council aftercompleting one-year compulsory rotating internship.

4. The candidate who is still undergoing one-yearcompulsory rotating internship and is likely tocomplete it by 31 March, 2016, will be permitted to

appear at the AIPGMET - 2016. His / Her selection will

be subject to completion of compulsory rotatinginternship of one year and registration before 15

April, 2016. He/she will have to submit documentaryevidence from the Principal/Dean of the Collegeregarding the anticipated date of completion ofinternship along with the application, failing which,his/her application shall be rejected.

5. If a candidate who does not fulfill any or all the aboverequirements or fails to pay the fees at the time ofcounseling he/she will not be considered eligible foradmission irrespective of his/her appearing forAIPGMET- 2016 examination & securing a rank in the merit list.

6. A NRI/PIO/FN candidate, who has passed the MBBS orequivalent examination from a College outside India, shallbe eligible for the admission, provided he/she obtainsregistration from the Medical Council of India (MCI).Candidate under this category is not required to appear forAIPGMET-2016.Admissions will be made on the basis ofinter-se merit as detrmined by admission committeeappointed for the purpose by the CompetentAuthority.

Admission Procedure:1 Candidate should obtain 50% or more marks atAIPGMET- 2016 to qualify for admission.2. The provisional selection for the General Seats in the Post Graduate Courses will be done on the basis of merit-cum-preference inAll

India Post Graduate Medical EntranceTest (AIPGMET- 2016).3. When all the Seats in a given Course are filled admission of students to that Course will instantaneously cease and Dr. D. Y. Patil

Vidyapeeth, Pune, will not be responsible for non-availability of seats and non allotment of seats to rest of the candidates.

TheAnnual Fee shall be increased by 3% each year.

All Postgraduate Degree/Diploma students shall have to

execute a one year bond, in the prescribed format, to serve in

the Institute. The conditions may be relaxed in case vacancy

is not available in the concerned department.

This will not be applicable to NRI/PIO/FN Category.

Students selected for various disciplines will be entitled for

stipend.

The Annual Fee is to be paid by the student at the time ofCounselling by a Demand Draft (DD) drawn in favour of“Dean,

Dr. D.Y. Patil Medical College”, payable at Pune.

(Note:Annual fees include tuition fees and development fees.)

Vidyapeeth Eligibility & Registration Fee (One-time Fee)

Ten Percent (10%) of the Annual Fee, payable for the first yearonly, shall be paid by the student separately at the time of fillingin the Eligibility Application, as Vidyapeeth Eligibility &Registration Fee. This fee shall be paid by a Demand Draft (DD)drawn in favour of“ ”Registrar, Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth

payable at Pune.

(Note: - The Vidyapeeth Eligibility & Registration Fee is non-refundable)

Vidyapeeth Examination Fee:-

In addition to the above fees the student shall pay the VidyapeethExamination Fee as prescribed by the Vidyapeeth from time totime. Other conditions and formalities shall be as per the byeLaws of theVidyapeeth.

Rules for refund of Fees

Admission to the course can be cancelled at the request of thestudent on submission of an application in the prescribed format.Refund of the fees in such case shall be done as under :

1. In case, the seat remaining vacant, due to leaving of anystudent, if consequently filled-up by the institution, by thelast date of the admission, then the student, leaving thecourse shall be eligible for the refund of fees, after deductionof the processing fees of Rs. 1000/- (OneThousand only)

2. If such vacant seat is filled up by the Institution, by theanother candidate by last date of admission, it will return thefees collected with the proportionate deduction of monthlyfees and proportionate hostel fees, where applicable.

3. If the seat after due efforts still remains vacant after last dateof admission the student shall not be entitled to get anyrefund.

Subsequent Selection Round:The notification will be published on the Vidyapeeth websiteand displayed on the Notice Board of Dr. D.Y. Patil Vidyapeethfor the subsequent selection round, to be conducted by theCompetent Authority for vacant seats, where candidate has notjoined or cancelled his/her admission.

WarningThe candidates seeking admission to the course of theVidyapeeth is warned against possible cheating by unscrupulousperson(s), who may promise and assure seat by extracting largesums of money, from the parents/candidates. The Vidyapeethhas not appointed any such agent(s). The Vidyapeeth shall not, inany way be responsible for the misdeeds of such persons.

RaggingRagging in any form is a punishable offence in accordance withthe“UGC REGULATIONS ON CURBING THE MENACEOF RAGGING IN HIGHER EDUCATIONALINSTITUTIONS, 2009” and committing this act ofindiscipline shall result in – PUNISHMENT UNDER THEPROVISION OF ANY PENAL LAW FOR THE TIME BEINGIN FORCE.Candidates, on admission, will be provided with detailedguidelines related to ragging.

Conduct of the Entrance Test(AIPGMET - 2016)1. The candidate shall attend AIPGMET - 2016 at his/her own

cost.2. Use of technology based calculating and communication

devices like mobile, pager, watches, calculator, etc. isstrictly prohibited in the Examination Hall.

3. No marks will be assigned where there is overwriting,scratching, double marking, or multiple answers.

4. The examination medium will be English.5. AIPGMET - 2016 paper will be of three and half hours

duration, containing 300 Multiple Choice Questions(MCQ). Questions will be single best response objectivetype with four choices. Each correct response will beawarded one mark. There will be no negative marking forwrong answer. Scratching, overwriting and multipleanswers will be considered as wrong answers. Candidateshall darken the circle corresponding to correct response byblack ball point pen.

Tie-Break for Equal MarksIn case two or more students obtain an equal number of marks atthe entrance test AIPGMET - 2016, i.e., in case of a tie, thefollowing procedure shall be adopted for deciding the finalmerit: If there is a tie between two or more candidates havingequal number of marks at the entrance test –

First Level: - The candidate, having more marks in the final yearof MBBS examination shall be preferred. If the tie still persists,then -Second Level: The candidate, having higher aggregate marks inall the University examinations of MBBS course shall bepreferred. If the tie still persists, then -Third Level: - The candidate, having more marks in thesubject of his/her choice (for PG) at the Universityexamination of the MBBS course shall be preferred.

Counseling andAdmissionsA reasonable number of qualified candidates, as per the meritlist, shall be called for Counseling and Admissions by theCompetentAuthority.

The candidate shall produce all the originals of the requiredCertificates at the time of counseling and admission.

The selection to the course shall be done on the basis of merit-cum-preference given by the candidate.

The selected candidate will have to join the course on or before01/04/2016. The admission will be made on provisional basis.The candidate has to give an undertaking for completion of theCourse.

Student shall submit the Eligibility form to the Vidyapeeth at thetime of joining the course and the admission confirmation shallbe subject to grant of eligibility by theVidyapeeth.
