Source : Nanotechnology Industrial Strategy (MIST/MoTIE/MoE, 2015.4)
Recently, in the "Nanotechnology Industrialization Strategy (2015)" report,
- Nano companies (570 companies surveyed, '14) believe that they are hoping to support technological
innovation infrastructure for the development of new products and sharing for risk on Investment gap with the
government(* Investment gap: the government is at the basic stage, and the private sector focuses on
commercialization investment, and there is investment gap between TRL4 ~ 7),
- In particular, obstacles to commercialization include: ① technical difficulties (long time span, high process
costs, etc.), ② difficulty in verifying safety performance, and ③ lack of information (lack of exchange between
technology and capital).

1. Background : Extending EU REACH Regulation
Consulting needs for nano materials and product registration to
be exported to the EU are expected to increase sharply
REACH : Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and restriction of Chemicals
It is a chemical substance management regulation that permits the registration evaluation
approval and restriction according to the manufacturing imports and risks for all substances
manufactured and imported in the EU within 1 ton per year since June 2018.

After 2018.05 with ACEnano Toolbox :
There is a pressing and urgent need for a tool to overcome the
anticipated EU-REACH regulatory barriers and the bottleneck
effects resulting from the nanomaterials and products industry.

1. Background : Need for International Cooperation
- The EU plays a leading role in regulating the safety of chemicals and nanomaterials. Therefore, by
establishing a network through joint research with EU research groups such as the ACEnano
consortium, we will be able to proactively respond to international standardization and new
regulatory trends in ISO TC 229, OECD WPMN, and ECHA led by EU researchers. It is absolutely
necessary to hold it.
- In order for domestic companies to participate in the ACEnano project as a partner and to secure
the right to use final products and to commercialize them later, they actively contribute to the
development of original technologies such as ACEnano WP1 & WP2 at a research institute with
original technology development capability (Hanyang Univ.) And an international cooperation
strategy that enables domestic participating companies to commercialize the final products (expert
system, education / training / consulting service contents) derived from WP3 & WP4.
