TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

I believe that “knowledge is power and learning is an ongoing process”, which I intend to share with my students so that they also recognize the value and purpose of their lifelong education. My formal lectures are usually both interactive and instructive. My teaching approach is based on an augmented interactive style. Often I initiate a “two-way learning

6 | C . V o f D r . M a z h a r u l K a z i

process” in that I employ both personal interactions as well as computer-based learning techniques. I use PowerPoint, Projectors and other available devices of presentations to deliver my lectures. I also make my notes available to my students (as hard and/or electronic copies). I adopt the most recent and well-written books as “text” and supplement them with other relevant books and papers drawn from related journals/conferences. I make formal learning interactive in order to make it less rigid, but more importantly to make it interesting to my students so that they can explore their full potential through active participation in the learning process. Apart from the conventional classroom mode of teaching, I am capable of delivering in other modes that include both “online” and “distance education”.

I believe that my qualifications and skills in finance and economics subjects coupled

with the dynamic teaching approach and mind-set for sharing my knowledge with students are the indispensable ingredients for effective learning. I am keen to continue learning and embracing a wide range of teaching ideas and strategies. I let my students know that I value each of them as a “person” rather than a “number”. I encourage students in their learning efforts and support them through making myself freely available for consultations either in person or through internet/email. All my students are treated with the equity and respect that they deserve irrespective of their backgrounds (skin colours, race, religion, culture, age, disability, and sex). INDUSTRY QUALIFICATIONS
