The Whos celebrated Christmasthough the Grinch tried to ruin it.We can practice any religion we wantthanks to the First Amendment.

We’ve all been to parades and presentations for school toothanks to the First Amendmentthese things we can continue to do.

The 2nd AmendmentAmendment two says You have theRight to bear arms,So you can have aWeapon to protectYou from all harm.

The 3rd AmendmentWhen smog was dumpedInto Lake ErieThe fish had to leaveAnd were very weary.The 3rd AmendmentPrevents soldiers in our homeSo we don’t have to leaveJust like the fish and their domes.

The 4th AmendmentThe fish was right To have the Cat go awayBut the Cat in the Hat Played anyways.

The 4th Amendment saysThe Cat cannot barge in to playOr can’t search the houseWithout a warrant for the day.

The 5th AmendmentAmendment 5 says the government can’t just take your land. They need to pay for it. Land is precious.Just ask the Lorax. He’ll understand. When the sun gets up,The citizens jump,There’s a grand jury today That they can’t delayAmendment 5 Wakes them up With a jive,Protects Americans from double jeopardy,And for all to have a big party!Self-incrimination doesn’t have to happen The prosecution doesn’t have to leave commentaryUnless it is absolutely voluntary.One cannot beDeprived of life or libertyOr property Without due process of law.

The 6th AmendmentAmendment 6 statesThat we have the rightTo fair a trialThat won’t take awhile.Like in Go, Dog, Go!When they drive in their cars.

When accused of a crime you have the right to a lawyer No matter who you are.

If no one wants to bea witness for youYou can force them You tell them what to do.

The charges you are given Must be told to youOr elseYour argument won’t be true.

The 7th Amendment Amendment 7 saysEveryone has the right to trial by jury Makes a professional decision In a hurryJust as fast as Go, Dog, Go!The trial begins now!Ready, set go!

The 8th Amendment Amendment 8 Is really greatIt protects youAnd others tooFrom unreasonable punishmentsFrom bad mistakes.

The 9th and 10th AmendmentAmendment 10 gives people the powerAs does Amendment Nine. Nine gives some power to the states too.It’s that just divine?

The 11th and 12th AmendmentAmendment 11Says you can’t sue another stateBecause you won’t be ableTo put up a debate.

Amendment 12Is about presidential electionsThat makes electors meet in their own stateTo vote for representativesAnd then celebrateOnce they have wonAnd are number one.

The 13th AmendmentAmendment 13Says no more slaveryYou don’t have to work for anyoneUnless its voluntarily.The poor dog has to Work for the GrinchNo matter what.But Amendment 13Had the chains of slaves cut.

The 15th AmendmentThe Sneeches divided themselvesby whose bellies had starsAmendment 15 says you can’t be segregated no matter how different you are.

The 14th AmendmentAmendment 14 defines citizenship and protects citizens rightsWe all have equal protection of lawsMaking it easier to sleep at night.When we are born in the glamorous U.S.A.“I’m a United States citizen!”Is something you can say.

The 16th AmendmentAmendment 16 approves the income taxSo the federal ship can stay afloatAnd keep our government With the Federal Reserve notes.

The 17th AmendmentAmendment 17 says the Senators get elected directlyNot just appointed by their stateThat way we can inaugurate.

The 18th AmendmentEveryone knows the story Of Sam-I-Am,And how he tried to get his friendTo eat green eggs and hamBut he said no just like the governmentIn the U.S. alcohol ban.

The 19th AmendmentAmendment 18 give equalityTo women and their voting rightsSo Cindy Lu Who can Celebrate tonight.

The 20th AmendmentAmendment number 20 says the president starts to work on 20th of JanuaryCongress on the 3rd

That way we can keep law word-for-word.

The 21st AmendmentIn Amendment 21Alcohol was back It was no longer illegalIn the brown paper sackIt’s like in Green Eggs and HamWhen he finally said,“I do. I do like them Sam-I-Am.”

Glossary• Amendment- a change to the Constitution• Petition-a formal written request, typically one signed by many people appealing to authority with respect to

a particular cause.• Arms-weapons• Warrant-an order from a judge that authorizes police or other officials to take certain action, such as

searching someone’s property. • Congress-the law making body for the United States• Inaugurate-Is the operation of starting a practice or operation • Senators-representatives in the Senate. There are two senators for each state in the Senate.• Federal-pertaining to or of the nature of a union of states under a central government distinct from the

individual governments of the separate states• Federal Reserve-The federal authority in the US that performs the functions of a central bank and is used to

implement the countries monetary • Slavery-the treatment of people as property for the purpose of forcing them to do labor. • Trial-a judicial examination of issues of fact or law disputed by parties for the purpose of determining the right

of the parties • Jury- a group of persons sworn to render a verdict or true answer on a question or questions officially

submitted to them.• grand jury hearing- A grand jury, which normally consists of 16 to 23 members, has a more specialized function. The United States attorney, the prosecutor in federal criminal cases, presents evidence to the grand jury for them to determine whether there is "probable cause" to believe that anindividual has committed a crime and should be put on trial. If the grand jury decides there is enough evidence, it will issue an indictment against the defendant. Grand jury proceedings are not

open for public observation. 28
