Dr. Sylvia Genevieve Dee, (sylvia.dee@rice.edu) Postdoctoral Position in Climate Science

The Rice University Earth, Environmental, and Planetary Sciences department seeks a post-doctoral researcher in paleoclimate and climate modeling. The researcher will work with Dr.Sylvia Dee in the newly-forming Climate, Water & Energy lab @ Rice. This fully funded re-searcher will be expected to address problems in tropical climate changes and ENSO dynamicsover the last 2000 years. The initial project is pre-defined (contact Dr. Dee for details), butthe postdoc will have flexibility in choosing additional research directions.

This position requires a strong background in climate science & modeling, as well as big datamethods for managing paleoclimate archives. Experience in numerical/statistical, and geospa-tial modeling is required.

Additional Experience Required:

• Advanced programming in Python

• Advanced programming in Matlab

• Basic command of Fortran

• Experience with climate model output, (preferably NCAR CESM) analysis and visual-ization

• Background in ENSO and Last Millennium climate dynamics

• Experience with paleoclimate data assimilation products (LMR, PHYDA) (preferred)

• Experience with high performance computing
