Dr. Sylvia Genevieve Dee, ([email protected]) Postdoctoral Position in Climate Science The Rice University Earth, Environmental, and Planetary Sciences department seeks a post- doctoral researcher in paleoclimate and climate modeling. The researcher will work with Dr. Sylvia Dee in the newly-forming Climate, Water & Energy lab @ Rice. This fully funded re- searcher will be expected to address problems in tropical climate changes and ENSO dynamics over the last 2000 years. The initial project is pre-defined (contact Dr. Dee for details), but the postdoc will have flexibility in choosing additional research directions. This position requires a strong background in climate science & modeling, as well as big data methods for managing paleoclimate archives. Experience in numerical/statistical, and geospa- tial modeling is required. Additional Experience Required: Advanced programming in Python Advanced programming in Matlab Basic command of Fortran Experience with climate model output, (preferably NCAR CESM) analysis and visual- ization Background in ENSO and Last Millennium climate dynamics Experience with paleoclimate data assimilation products (LMR, PHYDA) (preferred) Experience with high performance computing The start date for this position is flexible, but January 2019 is preferred and we intend to fill the position immediately.
