Correspondence about "N.W. Europe", mainly 1949-54, This ha.s been arranged alphabetically by correspondent _. and then chronologically within this . The letters have been lis t ed in some detai l and indexed under the personal name of the correspondent.

It was decided t o divide this section into three groups in order to distinguish between the types of papers . Firstly , II/ 4a cont ai. ns the official documents on the campaign in N. W. Europe which were use d by North in writing his history and t her e are also notes from the I.Jar Office about the purpose of this history , along with North 's outline and comments made by the War Office . Section II/ 4b contains vari ous newspaper articles abo ut ·world War II and , finally , section II/4c is made up of al l the ::-eviews and press cutti.ngs about "N. W. Europe", the book.

Everything has been listed in de tail, and where applicable , items have been included in the subj ect index to give the reader complete coverage of;:. topic.

Booklets about the ca:npaign in N.~I. Europe published by va rious official bodies , These have been listed 3nd included in the subject index.
