Sizes for 6 inch (9 inch, 12 inch) blocks Uses 2 different fabrics Cut Fabric A, center star 2 squares - 3 1/2 inches (4 1/2 inches, 5 1/2 inches) 1 square - 2 1/2 inches (3 1/2 inches, 4 1/2 inches) Fabric B, sky area 2 squares - 3 1/2 inches (4 1/2 inches, 5 1/2 inches) 4 squares - 2 1/2 inches (3 1/2 inches, 4 1/2 inches) Take the 2 - 3 1/2 inch squares of fabric A and fabric B to make 4 half square triangles. Using 1 of each color, stack 2 squares right sides together.

Draw a line diagonally across the 2 square combinations.

Then sew a line 1/4 inch along the drawn line on both sides. This will result in two stitched parallel lines 1/2 inch apart. Cut along the drawn line carefully leaving a 1/4 inch seam allowance on both halves.

Repeat for second square set. Press open toward the darker fabric.

Trim to 2 1/2 inches (3 1/2 inches, 4 1/2 inches)

You now have 4 half square triangles, 1 Fabric A center square and 4 Fabric B corner squares

Lay out the resulting 9 squares as illustrated, carefully pointing the star radiants in the correct direction.

Sew the 3 first row squares together and press open toward the outer squares.

Sew the 3 second row squares together and press open toward the center square.

Sew the 3 third row squares together and press open toward the outer squares.

Lining up the corners, sew the 3 rows together.
