Teacher’s Page: These colorful math mats align with Common Core Standards for 1st Grade Geometry. A corresponding interactive is available for classrooms with Interactive Whiteboards. Preparation: Print mats on pp. 1-7 and laminate or place in sheet protectors for reuse. Print manipulatives on pp. 8-10, cut apart and laminate. Students will need dry erase markers or crayons. Mats: Bubble Shapes - Student will draw and color bubbles in the shapes of circles, squares, rectangles,
and triangles. Sun Shapes - Student will draw a sun using circles and triangles. Watermelon Slices - Student will trace the words, and then arrange watermelon halves and
quarters to form whole slices on the plates. Beach Blankets - Student will trace the words, and then arrange halves and quarters to form whole
blankets on the beach. Building a Sandcastle - Student will use shape manipulatives to design and build a sandcastle. Building with Shapes - Student will use shape manipulatives to build composite shapes. Flat/Solid Shape Sort - Student will sort flat and solid shapes. Optional: Students may be required to count sides or corners on shapes as they work.
