The First Shot of

everythings in the

beginning.This is the fi rst shot when I exit the MTR Station undergrounded. I was surprising that there are not much local Hong-konger in the weekend. Anyone in the street who are passing though me, are Philippino, Indian and Nepali. However, there are still typi-cal Hong Kong cityscrape, chinese wording signboard, chinese font road direction, etc.

This interesting phenomenon is typical old area of Hong Kong cityscape.

“Hey, please casually have a look, randomly choose, very cheap, pick and buy”, A street vendor shouting loud to their customer.

Colorful Life is

happening in the

old districtColor in old district is much more meaningful; relatively, color in the urban area always treat as a visual element to attract human attention, which is only for functional.

In old district, human is living with color, work with color, they treat color element naturally.

Keep LEFT.

“Look left” seems to be the usual behavior in Hong Kong, especially in some rural area, maybe this is the design of the road system. I’m thinking that the charming Hong Kong People keeps looking left but they don’t know what exactly they have to look; any car sudden comes from left? any friends sudden bump into you? any luck sudden happen on you?

Nothing, but they are “Looking”.They are just politic followers.

I wanna sell my government, may I put it down here, I just need some money for my transferation, I will pick it back if it starts to make me feeling comfort-able.

I walk and walk and look around...from left to right and down to top.I feel warm in this district as it is full of “human touch”, I found many of living elements here. Not like Central, there are cool, here is warm

Anyway,It is times to celebrate Mid-Autumn.

“Yellow”and

“Dayglo”industry

Many people are misunderstanding Sham Sui Po that is existing so many “yellow” industry, yes it exist, but what I observed, the “yellow” just for sign-board or signage for sales promotion.

Don’t misunderstand it, don’t misun-derstanding our old district. They are not that worst, Keep them.

Welcome with unfriendly faces.“Just $7 for a cup, thanks. one more?”They are really friendly, even they don’t smile.

Red color used to represent welcome in this district.

Walking for so a long journey.My Derive, of course, is a short journey, however, some of the path I passed though are living for at least 30 years ago. I seems to be walking timeline rather than walking a simple path.

in Hong Kong, however, what this city lacking is LOVE.

Love is all-around, just fi nd a tiny coner in your area nearby, stand in front for a

minute, a romantic relationship which is building will be found in front of you.

Life... is so lonely

Old man in old district is always live alone, they are contructing one of the key visual element of old district. They are usually ap-pear in the coner of the street or under foot-walking bridge.

Their appearence is important for me to walk pass though this street, they are so contrast between me and them, they make me feel that I’m young, and they as a visual object, is giving me a “foreigner” identity who seems not belong to this district.

Standingin front ofintersection crossing road.

We can see through four different straight road when we are standing in the center of the intersection crossing road. If you look far, there are some row of high building, seems surrounding the old district.

New Building is reaching high, it makes the old district visually disap-pearing when you looking at the city landscape. However, they are still exist. Please give them a little oxygen for their little breathing.

I can’t wait to long, so I walk.The greybeard with white hair in the photo had wait bus for a long time but there are still no bus comes. At the end, she gonna leave, she said she can walk, her destination just one bus stop.

Memories, somehow, are provoked by visual object. These toy machines make me picturize my childhood in my mind.
