ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensures all Permits and Consents are submitted and approved in time and in full compliance with regulatory requirements.

Manages offshore operations, working closely with offshore supervisors and key contract drilling personnel. Takes a lead role in the communication, planning and decision-making processes to ensure programmes are delivered safely and effectively. Ensures processes are in place to control and approve proposed changes to programmes.

Establish a schedule to deliver the well objectives by controlling and prioritising all activities. Maintain the schedule by tracking progress and re-scheduling for changes as they occur to keep

control of and prioritise activities.

Manage the maintenance requirements both within TAQA and with the drilling contractor for the drilling equipment. This will include interfaces with the platform teams for equipment that is the asset responsibility.

Ensure efficient turnaround when moving operations between platforms. This includes ensuring that all maintenance and upgrade work is ready in time for the rig team arriving.

Develops and maintains procurement plans for services, materials and equipment based on the well schedule and ensures materials, services and equipment are available in line with well schedules and operations. In conjunction with the Contracts team, takes a lead role in the tendering, evaluation and negotiation process in relation to the award of drilling services, materials and equipment contracts and agreements.

Ensures the team and relevant contractor/vendor companies comply with the requirements of the Company’s Business Management System and that all relevant documentation is systematically recorded, auditable and traceable. Makes recommendations on improvement to the Management System.

Ensures an effective interface and communication process is established between the team, other TAQA teams and external/3rd party representatives to ensure clear understanding of project objectives/work programmes, encourage open transfer of knowledge and information and to identify, record, track and close out actions in an effective and timely manner.

Develops and manages project budgets and ensures compliance with budget management, control and reporting processes.

Controls well interventions procedures and practices through the effective and efficient preparation of detailed programmes, peer reviews, risk assessments, programme reviews, etc. Monitors and records issues during well servicing activities to ensure these activities do not impact asset safety and environmental performance.

Takes a lead role in the development of highly positive relationships with external/regulatory bodies e.g. Well Examiner, OPRED, HSE and third parties and ensures team members support the relationship-building process.

Represents TAQA externally through e.g. membership of industry forums, attending conferences/seminars

Makes visits offshore to enhance onshore-offshore relationships/communications and to check compliance with the TAQA Management System.

Participates in the duty rota for emergencies & incidents.

JOB DIMENSIONS

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING

Essential

Degree in an engineering/technology discipline (or comparable practical rig-site operations management experience)

Fully certified by a recognised Well Control Authority for well activities e.g. IWCF, WELLCAP

Offshore Survival Training Certificate, UK Medical and MIST

Essential

Experience of drilling, completion, intervention and abandonment operations and engineering – at a senior level

Sound knowledge of completion, intervention and abandonment work over operations and of the HSE regime governing offshore UKCS operations

Proven track record of successfully leading offshore teams High level of technical expertise in relation to drilling/completions/abandonment engineering and

operations and well services/technology with proven ability to deal with complex scenarios, challenging environments and develop creative solutions

Proven ability to work effectively with senior management and influence/challenge senior management

High level of commercial awareness Up to date knowledge of technological developments, industry initiatives, etc. Proven relationship-builder at all levels – internally and externally

Preferred

Experience of working in an Operator environment and in mature assets
