A zero blood alcohol limit applies to:

• all learner drivers (L)

• all Provisional 1 drivers (P1)

• all Provisional 2 drivers (P2)

What are the laws around driving for L and P Platers?

• It is against the law to have any alcohol in your system as a L or P plater Under the NSW law.

• Between the hours of 11pm and 5am you must not drive with more than one passenger under the age of 21.

Young drivers aged 17 to 25 years are at a higher risk of crashing than drivers of older age groups for lots of reasons including inexperience, attitudes towards driving and risk taking behaviour.

involvement was known, alcohol was a contributing factor in 54% of fatal crashes on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, 25% of all fatal crashes, 8% of injury crashes and 6% of all crashes.
