About the service

Documents to be submitted

To enhance the convenience of foreign investors living in Korea, KOTRA’s ICC now exchanges foreign driver’s licenses for a Korean one

Holders of the D-8 visa and their accompanying family members (the spouse and unmarried children aged 18) can exchange their foreign driver’s license for a Korean one.

※ The written exam is exempted for D-8 visa holders and their accompanying family members.

※Applicants may be asked to submit additional documents.※ Please note that the screening criteria may differ depending on the

agreement signed between Korea and the applicant’s home country.

1. Driver’s license issued in the applicant’s home country

※ Expired license will not be accepted.

2. Certificate of Entry and Exit and passport (the driver’s license issuance date or renewal date should be stated)

※ The Certificate of Entry and Exit can be issued at KOTRA’s ICC (Handling fee: KRW 2,000).

※ In the case of a license issued by a third country, a document proving that the applicant resided in the issuing country for 90 days or longer should be submitted. For inquiries, please contact the ICC (☏02-3497-1056).

3. Al ien Registration Card or Domicile Registration Card

※ Short-term residents of less than 90 days are not permitted to exchange their driver’s license

4. Certificate from home country’s embassy or an apostille proving the authenticity of the applicant’s foreign driver’s license

- Certificates issued by an embassy are valid for one year from the date of issuance. In the case that the period of validity stated on the certificate is less than one year, the stated period shall be applied.

- The apostille shall be valid until the date designated by the Lottery.

※ In the case of applicants from the United States, United Kingdom, Hong Kong and Uzbekistan, an apostille shall be submitted because the embassies of the countries do not issue a certification of authenticity for driver’s licenses.

※ Embassy-issued certificates and apostilles should be in English or Korean.

5. Three color photos (3cm×4cm) ※ Identification photo taken within the past six

months

6. Physical exam report - KOTRA’s ICC does not provide physical

exams. Please visit a designated hospital for a physical exam and submit the report (Refer to page 9 for the list of designated hospitals).

7. License issuance fee: KRW 7,500

The above documents PLUS the D-8 visa holder’s Certificate of Alien Registration ※ “Accompanying family members” refers to the

spouse and unmarried children (aged 18) of D-8 visa holders.

※ The Certificate of Alien Registration can be issued at KOTRA’s ICC (Handling fee: KRW 2,000).

本サービスは、D-8ビザ保持者やその家族(配偶者及び18歳以上19歳未満の未婚の子供)が外国の運転免許証を韓国の運転免許証に切替える際の手続きに関するサービスです。

※ D-8ビザ 保持者やその家族は筆記試験が免除されます。

▶ Kotra ICCまでご来訪の際は、次の書類を揃え、切替えの申 請者ご本人がお越し下さい。(住所と連絡先は10ページを参照して下さい。)

KOTRAは外国人投資家の生活の便宜を図り、

必要な書類審査のみで運転免許証が切替えできるサービ

スを開始いたします。

- Kotra ICCには身体検査場がないので、近くの

指定病院で身体検査を受けた後、身体検査書を

ご提出ください(指定病院については9ページで

ご案内)

※ ここでいう同伴家族とは、D-8ビザ保持者の配

이제 KOTRA ICC에서도 외국인투자가의 생활 편의를 적극

지원하고자 필수 서류심사만을 통한 운전면허증 교환발급

서비스를 실시합니다.

본 서비스는 D-8 비자소지자 및 동반가족(배우자 및 만 18세 이상 19세

미만의 미혼 자녀)에게 외국 운전면허증을 한국 면허증으로 교환발급 해

주는 서비스입니다.

※ D-8 비자 소지자 및 동반가족은 필기시험이 면제됩니다.

※ 면허교환 발급을 위하여 요구되는 필수서류 제출은 모든 외국인에게 서류심

사를 위하여 요구되는 최소한의 공통 조건입니다.

※ 서류심사 과정에서 국가간 상호협약에 따라서 국가별로 교환발급 심사기준

이 상이하게 적용될 수 있음을 미리 고지하여 드립니다.

▶ 다음 서류를 구비하여 KOTRA ICC에 발급대상자 본인이 직접 내방하여

1. 외국 운전면허증

※ 외국운전면허증 원본에 기재된 유효기간이 만료된

경우에는 한국면허증 교환 발급이 불가능합니다.

2. 출입국사실증명서(Certificate of Entry and Exit) 및

여권 원본(면허발급일 또는 갱신일이 포함되어야 함)

※ 출입국사실증명서는 KOTRA ICC에서도 발급 가능

(수수료 2,000원)

※ 제3국 취득 면허의 경우, 취득국가에서 90일 이상

체류한 사실을 증명하여야 함. 자세한 서류안내는 담당자 문의 요망(☏02-3497-1052).

3. 외국인등록 카드 원본(Alien Registration Card,

Original) 또는 국내 거소신고 카드 원본(Domicile

Registration Card, Original)

※ 90일 미만의 단기체류자는 서비스 이용 불가

4. 면허증에 대한 대사관 확인서 또는 아포스티유

(APOSTILLE)

- 면허증에 대한 대사관 확인서의 유효기간은 발행일로부터 1년이며, 확인서에 기재된 유효기간이 1년 이내인 경우는 기재된 유효기간이 적용됩니다.

- 아포스티유의 유효기간은 발급 LOTTERY가 지정한 기간이 적용됩니다.

※ 미국, 영국, 우즈베키스탄, 홍콩 은 대사관 확인서가

발급 불가하므로 아포스티유만 제출 가능

※ 대사관 확인서 또는 아포스티유의 언어는 한국어 또

는 영어로 표기된 것만 한하여 인정합니다.

5. 칼라사진 3장 (3cm×4cm)

※ 최근 6개월 이내 촬영, ID 카드용 반명함판

6. 신체검사서

- Kotra ICC 내에는 신체검사장이 없으니 가까운 지정병원에서 신체검사를 받으신 후 제출하여주시기 바랍니다. (지정병원 안내 9 페이지 참조)

7. 발급수수료 7,500원
