Barren Land Transforms into Oasis of Greenery

While accepting years of request from a new-age spiritual organisation Quantum Life University, I happened to stay at the Pragati Green Meadows and Resorts, situated close to Hyderabad airport and not far from Hyderabad city. It turned out to be a learning experience in many ways. I thought I should share that with my well-wishers.

Throughout my stay of six days in that green campus with lot of trees, shrubs, waterfalls and swimming pool, I did not feel the presence of any mosquito.

Pragati Green Resorts is a one-of-its-kind resort in the country - it is a man-made eco-village developed on barren land creating a natural habitat. The environment here is completely

The 68 year old engineer - turned into an innovative industrialist by producing chemical equipment at Pimpri-went on to set up a high speed steel plant in Orissa, exported high speed steel, imparted skill to rural youth to grow vegetables and make household industries raising the standards of the rural poor in Orissa.

The founder chairman of the resort Dr. GBK Rao said that he had chosen certain trees and herbal plants, which are repellent to mosquitos. Also certain plants that are repellent to reptiles like snakes. Thus a zero pollution environment has been created.

Dr. GBK Rao hailing from a farming family in a village in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh, is an engineer turned environmentalist, who is the architect of Pragati Biodiversity Knowledge Park and the founder Chairman and Managing Director of Pragati Group. He believes that a healthy, wealthy, happy and joyful world can be achieved only through Indian Vedic way of living – biodiversity with plant and cow.

According to Dr. Rao a clean and hygienic environment supported by the aroma of certain Indian native herbal heritage plants brought about the miracle of creating a rare destination of mosquito and pollution free space.

In India of late, symptoms of revival of malaria, dengue and Chikkengunia are noticed. Zika, another deadly virus is spread by mosquitos. Pragati has been recognised by the United Nations and the global community for successfully maintaining balance of nature to sustain the ecology at the Pragati Biodiversity Knowledge Park. The Park spreads over 2500 acres, with nearly 30 lakhs of trees of all types. The herbal and medicinal plants have been arranged at various pockets. The healing herbs remove toxins and refresh anyone through aroma therapy.

Pragati has the collection of rare species of cattle including heritage cows and bulls of Punganoor and Ongole besides rare breeds of mountain sheep. At least 65 varieties of birds and 20 rare animal species have found a secured habitat here.

A wide variety of compost fertilizers including biofertilizers, vermi-compost, cow dung, Green leaf mould, Neem, Tulsi and cow based products are generated and used for organic farming.

Green crusader gets Padma Shri

Some youth of his village scurried to the humble green shed home of Green crusader Daripalli Ramaiah -popularly known as Vanajeevi - to greet him with the news that the Central government had announced Padma Shri, the fourth highest national award, to him for social work. He took it calmly with all humility.

‘Trees give oxygen, shade and fruit’ is what he had learnt in school. Since his school days, he took planting trees everywhere as a campaign. He and his wife intensified the campaign and took the plantation drive on a mission mode, when his daughter complained of headache due to lack of oxygen.

Always clad in white dhoti and shirt, Ramaiah is estimated to have planted more than 1.30 crore saplings, predominantly neem and ganuga (pongamia).

Contemporary Research on Reincarnation, Past Life Regression and Related Fields

The evidence found in our ancient cultures and traditions may be enough to convince a majority of the people about the validity of reincarnation. However, to make the concept acceptable to the modern-day

skeptics, scientific evidence is required.

Skeptics argue that Past Life Regression is unscientific. In reality, there is an enormous body of research work, findings and empirical evidence to show that Past Life Regression is a very scientific process wherein we get repeatable results when we maintain the same conditions. The challenge is that most of these conditions have to do with non-physical reality, which cannot be perceived with our physical modes of perception and test & measuring

instruments. We therefore have to depend on empirical evidence from the work done by contemporary researchers.

We shall now take a brief look at some of the important areas of research on reincarnation and related fields along with the work done by some pioneers in the various fields.

Psychoanalysis and Psychology

Though not directly related to reincarnation research, the work of Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung and Wilhelm Reich needs to be mentioned, as they recognized the role of the Subconscious Mind, and the memories of the past stored in the Subconscious Mind, in shaping the behavior of individuals. This laid the foundation for all the work to be done later in the field of Past Life Regression, which can be viewed as an extension of, and not a deviation from, the work of these pioneers.

One of the most famous persons responsible for awakening an interest in reincarnation was the philosopher and psychologist William James. He believed that consciousness does not end with death.

Dr. Ian Stevenson, M.D., a professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Virginia, was one of the pioneers in the field of scientific research into reincarnation. He wrote several books on the subject.

His outstanding contribution to reincarnation research is his meticulous documentation of over 3,000 case histories of children with past life memories. The cases were researched in diverse regions like Sri Lanka, Africa, Alaska, British Columbia, Burma, India, South America, Lebanon, and Turkey. The children studied usually started recalling a past life between the ages of two and five. In hundreds of cases

around the world, multiple witnesses confirm that children have spontaneously furnished names of towns and relatives, occupations and relationships, attitudes and emotions that clearly pointed to a single, dead individual – who in most of the cases was unknown to their present families.

There is an unmistakable correlation between the birthmarks and birth defects observed in the children and the injuries that they suffered in the life that they remember. The birthmarks that he has observed resemble bullet holes,

stab wounds etc. The cases were investigated so thoroughly that it became evident that they were due to the trauma carried over from the past lives.

Xenoglossy

Another verifiable phenomenon researched by Dr. Stevenson is Xenoglossy. Xenoglossy is the paranormal phenomenon in which a person is able to speak a language that he or she could not have learnt by natural means. For example, a person who has never studied French, has never been to a French-speaking country, and was never associated with French speaking people, but speaks French fluently like a native, would be said to exhibit xenoglossy. Dr. Stevenson observed that xenoglossy was suggestive of reincarnation as the person most probably remembered the alien language from a past life. One of the cases cited by him was Uttara, a woman in India who normally spoke only Marathi, but after participating in a Meditation during a

hospitalization, began speaking in Bengali.

Dr. Stevenson has reached this conclusion: “I think a rational person, if he wants, can believe in reincarnation on the basis of evidence.”

Rebirthing-Breathwork

Leonard Orr is best known for developing Rebirthing-Breathwork, a 'system' or technique of breathing that can help one to overcome the 'trauma' of being born. Birth is a very traumatic moment in the human experience. Certain types of breathing techniques can help a person to re-experience the trauma of birth. The work of Leonard Orr expanded the scope of 'birth trauma' into a major field of study and research.

“Born Again and Again”

Edgar Cayce, one of the best-known psychics of the twentieth century, in his book 'Born Again and Again', deals with topics
